  1. I know this post will fall on deaf ears, but it is pretty funny how not being a blind homer for a team that hasn't made the playoffs in 20 years is automatically interpreted by some as freaking out, being impulsive, and irrational.
  2. Panic? LOL, is this a joke? Firstly, the season is 162 games. If I even tried to panic over each and every one of them like some people on here do, I'd go crazy. Secondly, this is the Toronto Blue Jays. How many times have they teased the fans in the last 20 years only to amount to nothing? I just expect a collapse now and will be pleasantly surprised if they even make the playoffs, let alone win anything of note. Not to mention, this was a 74-win team last year with absolutely nothing done in the offseason to improve the roster aside from jettisoning JPA. If/when they collapse, AA's seat has to at least start getting hot. Even if we do collapse, we still win if AA and Beeston end up getting fired as a result.
  3. Is anyone really shocked that a 74-win team is starting to play like a 74-win team again after a month of good bounces? I said it all winter and I'll say it again: as long as AA, Beeston, and Gibbons are in charge, this team is going nowhere.
  4. I for one never really hopped on the wagon to begin with. I've been in "wait and see" mode all year. This team has teased us all too much in the past 20 years, after all.
  5. Pretty much. This is what happens when the GM does absolutely nothing to fix a bad team in the offseason and just hopes to get lucky. We got lucky with that winning stretch but it looks like the real team is starting to arrive.
  6. LOL, seriously.... I tend to be a worrywart in general and even I can't get all worked up about 162 games.
  7. Or, you know, the 20 YEARS of no playoffs. Constant irrelevance and mediocrity tends to beat fans down and make them reluctant to "buy in." I know I haven't quite bought in yet.
  8. Edwin has been my favorite Jay since he first arrived here.
  9. David Price doesn't look anywhere near a pitcher worth unloading the farm for this year. He's turned into a home-run serving machine with shaky command. AA would also get completely bent over by Friedman.
  10. AA is still a terrible GM. Just because his bad process has lucked out with some good results so far doesn't make up for all the bad decisions he's made, his lies to the fans, his complete inaction all last offseason, his phobia of advanced metrics, etc. He deserves props for dumping a couple bad contracts and the Bautista deal, that's it. AA doesn't even deserve praise for Encarnacion because he let him go to the A's and got lucky that Beane screwed up and got rid of him. And his three panic trades (Napoli trade, Marlins trade, Dickey trade) will haunt this franchise for a long time. In short, just because we have a winning record in June doesn't mean it's time to start sucking off AA. I'd still fire his ass today if it were up to me.
  11. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/BOS/BOS200905190.shtml IIRC, we were leading the division at the time, and that game started a 9-game losing streak. In typical Jays fashion, we ended up finishing under .500 and not making the playoffs.
  12. So now that we've had this year's Wakefield game - courtesy of those two terrible panic trades (Reyes/Dickey) - can AA finally be fired after the inevitable 85 wins and no playoffs?
  13. Yet another loss directly resulting from AA's panic trades. Amazing how he still has a job in this league.
  14. Since the Fire AA thread get deleted, I guess I'll just do my rant in here instead. Fire AA for wasting a fluke year from our bullpen in a lost season at the trade deadline last year. We're now stuck with a bunch of scrubs regressing to the mean in our pen when we could have had assets for them last year. Fire AA for doing absolutely nothing all offseason to address the pitching situation despite lying repeatedly to the fans that he would. The streak was fun and all, but I'm still not buying this team. We still need a starter and some decent relievers, but we all know AA will do nothing but sit on his fat ass and twiddle his thumbs while somehow keeping his job.
  15. Of course, f***ing Boston is once again beating the Barves. That game yesterday is going to mark the turnaround of their season... book it!
  16. The only thing that sucks about our good start to the season is that those smug pricks are being rewarded for sitting on their asses and doing nothing all offseason while lying to the fanbase. Other than that, our offense is like a f***ing video game sometimes. The bullpen has me very nervous. Once again, this is where AA screwed us by doing nothing. The pen had a fluke-ass year last season and AA didn't capitalize at the trade deadline.
  17. I've seen too much fluke-ass s*** from the Sux, and Boston teams in general, to write them off quite yet.
  18. Sadly, I still fully expect this infuriating Sux franchise to fluke their way into the playoffs.
  19. Barves just woke up the Sux. It was fun while it lasted. Sux will probably go on some fluke-ass run now.
  20. In before Friedman somehow tricks AA into trading Bautista and Encarnacion for Zobrist.
  21. It was a great comeback. Still though, Maasai's Nuggets teams were also young and had similar playoff results. We need some legit star power to go with the core.
