  1. Dam, it ain't always pretty but overall the Jays are playing some pretty dam good ball and racking up some W's. Nice job boys. Fun to see down the stretch...again.
  2. That's a massive hit Tapia. Thank you.
  3. I didn't see his first two at bats. He won't win MVP unless and until he makes some approach adjustments. There is little doubt about his talent to do that. He is well down the pecking order on the list for 1B value in 22.
  4. Vlad swings at another first pitch pitchers strike low and away. Rolls over and yet Another GB bounced to 3B.
  5. Better inning there. Probably have to roll the dice and send Berrios back out. We need some run cushion.
  6. Will say 10 Hail Marys and pray for one more IP from Berrios. He is painfully grinding. Lucky we are still up thanks to the Os base running.
  7. Fictional? Bellinger and Vlad WAR totals by 23 are just statistical facts. You didn't make any points worth responding to, but I did have to say its strange that you are excited by 100 home run by a certain age and think that equals contract value. You also think Miggy & Vlad had/have the same body type 21-23, which is inaccurate and deserved a comment.
  8. Bellinger had put up 16 WAR by 23 and 1 elite season. Vlad by 23 has 9 WAR ok? Who gives a s*** about just 100 home runs? We are talking about overall value created = money and contract term and AAV. Early hitting success doesn't automatically = 10/300M and continued offensive success. Yelich was a little later...not that much. Wonder how they like that deal now? Speaking of not adding to the conversation, Miggy is not a "obvious" comp as a 21-23 year old to Vlads body type LOL. I cant believe I have to explain this but Miggy didn't always look like he does now. Also Gywnn put on weight much later in his career. As did Puckett. They had already racked up consistently big numbers and frankly they are anomalies anyway. They also had D value. Vlad is pillowy now. He has been since he was a kid in MTL, and its going to get harder for him to stay 240-250 each season. Your argument that ballooning in weight doesn't affect performance success probabilities is not a good one. Soto's career wRC+ is 20 points higher than Vlad's. Thats a player who is more likely to be truly elite and possibly HOF player than Vlad, even with a tough '22. You think in this video, early FLR Miggy is a "obvious" comp to Vlad's body type lol? You must think when you look in the mirror you look like prime Arnold. Take off the rose colored glasses. Vlad is a very good bat and he may become great. His D at 1B seems fine but there is a limit to what anyone will pay for D at 1B. Just not in a rush to give him 10/300.
  9. Lol. I was just going to type exactly that! Ummm and also the game is over and we got a W. f*** off Apple TV. YIMI just f***ing going at the kid with 4 run lead. Gave up a solo shot. Big f***ing deal.
  10. Watching Chappy's D has been a massive highlight this season for me. Reminds me of when we had Rolen.
  11. Kooch is disaster. But 1 run pushed across through the last 13 innings is just not getting it done in September. We aren't facing Mad Max.
  12. Cmon. Bellinger, Yelich etc etc. Look at his body type. Mo, Prince, Pablo. Not saying he goes full Pablo or that he doesn't have another 2021 in him, but to even suggest that off 1 elite season it's a no brainer $300M, and his spot in Cooperstown is waiting for him is a bit much. There is a lot of risk. Especially juxtaposed against reasonable comparables of players of have similar offensive and better defensive profiles.
  13. I would not do that deal. Riley is only 25...adds more value on D and got 10/210 M. 145 wRC+ and a 5 WAR player already in '22. I don't know why so many think he is worth a 9M premium to that per yr because he can really smoke a ground ball (facetious). With Vlads body type and the 3 WAR season he has had exposing more possible risk, that makes little sense to me. I'd rather sell if we have to as we near FA.
  14. I hear ya. Today just kind of shows the wildcard series is a bit of a crap shoot...unless we are at the Trop, in which case we are surely f***ed. Also, look at the bright side...you predicted we get rolled in this series and we won it.
  15. Look at what the Mariners did to come back the other night. Its not probable but its possible...."Soooo...you are sayin' there is a chance"
  16. Its a 5 run lead against one of the leagues top offenses at home that has 6 outs left. Not 15-0. I don't get that ^
  17. Yep. 4 WAR season 2021. He is a playa.
  18. I don't know if we have any other bat that can look so good or so bad more consistently than Teo.
  19. Yup, that and the Rays capitalized on that ridiculous gift, and we had their guy on the ropes and couldn't convert early. Need to get that pitch count up argh - not that the Rays pen is a joy either.
  20. Honestly I've heard better analysis from Caleb Joseph on the GB % increase and why its happening. I mean if Vlad did just one thing only differently, he would be so much better. That is to do a better job laying off pitches low and away. He is missing or rolling over on them. Rays had a plan with him, especially with 2 strikes. He seems to be worse at laying off when runners on and "clutch". Some say thats just stat noise. Last night with the bases full he rolled over again chasing low and away. If it wasnt hit so softly its a GIDP and no run scores. Next AB runners on same same = GIDP. Book is out this year he will fish. Some guys struggle with this their whole career, but we have seen selective Vlad before. We know he can do it. Its frustrating because our expectations are high. He hits a 2B Tues night and HR last night both nobody on. For any human ball player thats solid. For Vlad we just expect more and want to see him drive in more runs in these big moments. I'm sure he will come around (I keep saying that).
  21. lol!! Dude was stuck in 2018? I dont think his D metrics are near what they used to be but he is still a pretty solid piece on D at least with the eye test, FWIW. Certainly compared to Tapia, Whit, Biggio, Teo and LGJ. He used to have some pop but not anymore.
  22. Anyone else amazed at comments from Jays fans when they go to games? Not to slag them really. Every fan base has them and they are the bread and butter of the business. But wow....always amazes me. People decked out in Jays regalia: - Ball ripped 30 feet to Biggio's left at 2B. "Bro, you gotta dive for that. What are you doing?" - Why aren't they bunting and playing small ball? - Manoah can throw 105 MPH. Lots more like that. Seriously no clue. The worst poster on this Board, that isn't an overt troll, knows more about this game than most casual fans.
  23. Great W! Strip and the pen awesome overall tonight. Jano in the action at the plate. Springer looking good. Bo rolls on. Groundzilla got a nice solo shot but then reverted back to pulling balls 6 inches off the plate. Lets stay greedy and get another W tomorrow!!
  24. To me this is a given. If you get pitchers strikes or balls, just pass the baton. Trust the guys behind you in the order. At this point I don't care a lot that Vlad has hit 12000 balls 800 MPH this year. I just want him to have a better approach on what pitch he is zoning up, swing at better pitches to hit when he is at the plate, especially when guys are on, or just take the BB. He got a 2B down the line last night nobody on. But watching live last night he looks more in between and off than on TV to me.
  25. That's about what I remember. I'm not sure about the clutch debate. All I know is Vlad at bats are truly complete s*** a lot when he has an opportunity to clear some bases off, other than with a GIDP. At the end of the day if Vlad, George and Teo are more consistently driving in some runs, we will be fine. If they don't, we won't. Approach and execution matters as do situations.
