  1. Metafour would put all the chips in on aging long term expensive deals for players with declining abnormal, anomalous skills. Awesome. 🙄 Just what we need.
  2. Yep. At least extensions that make sense risk/bet wise. Its a debate that should intensify as the deadline comes next year depending on where the team is at obviously. Big decisions.
  3. Clearly. Bo’s bat to ball skills would have to be elite to put up the numbers he has with the chase and bb rates he has.
  4. Hicks is much better now than Nate, and throws 2 MPH harder avg but ya same kind of vibes on V/stuff with lack of command. You get the feeling on any given outing he could K the side or f*** it all up with a BB, HBP and a double etc. I started looking into comparing their pitch movement stats vs avg but I never finished. Greene a bit like that as a SP for Reds.
  5. Smoking hot. Slugging .823 last 15 and .605 the last 30 gms
  6. He is found money pretty much and was pitching better and in more leverage than anyone expected. I think he continues to be the up/down guy in various roles but less leverage. He throws more sliders than Sergio Romo haha. Bound to miss and get crushed at times.
  7. I just ordered a McCoy jersey.
  8. A laugher today would be good medicine. Nice to see the bats show up. And a solid performance by Bassitt.
  9. I don't put any deal past Ross at this point. The trades he made for Berrios and Chappy were ballsy, whatever you think of them. Trading LGJ and Teo before just before their walk years also big moves. Lots of fans liked pineapple head and mr seeds or whatever their nicknames were.
  10. Best show ever. Kenny Powers baby!!! lol
  11. Jesse Pinkman lol. Definitely can’t escape the image of him selling meth when he is selling gambling now.
  12. This is an unpopular take lol. To me its just about Term/AAV. He will be a 28 year old SS who is bottom third D now at 25. 3rd and 10th percentile on BB & chase respectively. The Baez contract must give DET nightmares.
  13. There is lots of chatter and speculation now about this from quite a few of the talking heads. Especially with the odds of making this playoffs dropping for the Jays. He and others are floating deal ideas pretty regularly now. They seem more freaked out about this window closing fast than most fans OTB. Media.
  14. Thats all true. Under performance from some was/is a big issue. But to the positive for us and the FO, aside from Manoah crater, which was a touch offset by Ryu unexpectedly coming back to give us some quality innings, this team has been incredibly health lucky. Lots of teams just have to battle the IL all year. ATL won the WS with Soroka, Ozuna and Acuna Jr out. Its part of the game, just as under and over performance is. I'd also say Belt and KK giving us 4 WAR could have been pillow deals gone wrong. But they went our way. Whit bounced back with 2.5 WAR.
  15. Fair. A lot of writers picked them to win the D and the WS in 2022 too. Didn’t they start 2022 as the Vegas odds top bet to win the WS? Close to it anyway. Vlad was worse than I could have imagined but he was a 2.8 WAR player in 2022. He wasn’t 2021. Springer is tough to actually count on given his injury history but he was a 4 WAR guy in 22. Kirk was not great most of the 2nd half 2022. He hasn’t rebounded. The FO won’t be evaluated by fans and owners based on 2023 alone. It will be on the body of work, and results, since 2016. I suspect they stay and some coaches don’t return.
  16. What’s so weird about this year is that the FO made a huge shake up in the teams make up breaking up the barrio last off season. Focussed on OF D. That was a big deal. The OF D clearly got better as did the rotation and pen. But the O has never clicked. Could they have been less optimistic on the projections? Could they have been more aggressive at the deadline given the O struggles they saw all season? Fair discussions. Do they have to do another major shake up or do they feel like they can roll with this basic group sans Chappy, backfill the roster and go again. Will be interesting. Tough to assume pitching will repeat 2023.
  17. Morosi was musing on an Alonzo + for Vlad deal yesterday. The plus because of control. He is saying Pete is available. Assuming it’s possible(who knows) what’s thoughts?
  18. I’d bet you on the League average, but it’s not a bet I’d want to win. So I don’t want to be hoping for that. Conflicts with my fandom of jays.
  19. There is a reasonable chance he is not around if no playoffs. Ross fired Charlie last year. Using that card on John now again not likely. What’s that Daniel Day Lewis movie? There Will Be Blood. At an absolute minimum I expect some of the coaches would be done.
  20. Screenshotted. I hope you are right. Projections were off on him this year. Unless he has a blistering Sept. We will need it Spank.
  21. I listened to JS. The At The Letters podcast was all over Espy swinging 3-0 in that situation. He said “I trust my guys to get a good pitch in that situation and put a good swing on it”. He wasn’t going to throw him under the bus so who knows if he was green lit or went on his own.
  22. Seems like only a month or two ago the board was “we are on a X win pace” and “it’s early” and “we are coming into a softer schedule” dominated the board after pissing away yet another winnable game. Been a tough year. Ain’t over yet but it’s getting tougher with every L. Shame if we waste such a solid pitching season.
  23. I think we all agree that is a given.
  24. I think this is fair on moving from LF to CF. Fans were tough on Varsho because we paid a very high price at the time for him. Expectations were high. We all saw the 5 WAR number by his 2022. A lot of fans imagined him to be a lock to improve offensively even though at 27 he is a career 95 wRC+ bat in 1500 PAs. The team didn't help expectations when they started the season with Varsho batting clean up. He didn't help himself when he sucked at the plate. Moving to CF and being a league avg bat will be solid value in 2024.
  25. With Bo, sometimes there is a referral from another injury from over compensating in recovery Happens to pitchers a lot. I've had it happen. Pure speculation on Bo. Hope he is ok.
