  1. Yup. He does. He has a new career as a contortionist when he winds up his next contract.
  2. One of the reasons I didn't think the "point of pride"^ on 1B was as big of an issue for Jose is that he is a converted IF for the most part. Not his first rodeo.
  3. The last 5 seasons his fWAR show negative def numbers. This year they were much worse and no doubt the arm was part of that. DH ing some is a good idea. He missed good parts of two seasons since he signed the 5 year deal - hip etc.
  4. Sorry I mentioned Brunt's thoughts now, but I heard them a couple weeks ago. That piece with Edwin was filmed last year before the season. (2014) His follow up one on one with Jose was very recent. I got the impression he spoke to them on a somewhat regular basis but don't know that. It was just his opinion that he thought Edwin was very different than Jose and a better candidate for wanting to extend and stay in TOR. "Jose is all business" inferring its his last deal and he will go for max. Anecdotally, he said when Jose and he were out for dinner in the DOM REP, Jose had a friend join them and most of the dinner convo was about real estate investing in TOR. I don't know anything about shy introvert motivations or village donations. I also don't fault any player for going for the max. Its a biz.
  5. ^ I love Jose and on a team friendly deal (which we wont get I don't think) Id love to see him stay...but if I have to watch him in RF for FOUR MORE YEARS the cheese will slip off my cracker. Not a chance. 1B Please.
  6. Yup. And on the Texas fan MB their con is: facing Stroshow.
  7. lol. pretty funny. Kinda sure its Stephen.
  8. I wasn't at the game but every time I travel to TOR and go to a gm at the RC I look at that MNP sign and imagine what it must have been like to be there when Carter hit a ball over that LF wall in game 6 93.
  9. That game was very painful and sadomasochistic to attend as a Jays fan. I was exhausted after. Like a bad hangover with no booze. But tomorrow we turn the table on them bud.
  10. Just 26 and grumpy with an old looking avatar
  11. Funny we are discussing this on the eve of a Game 5 win to go to ALCS and have a strong looking team going into 2016. Its not a lot to go on, but I like Brunt and he spent lots of time with both of them in DOM REP. His interview recently with Jose was telling to him. He was saying they are very different people from different parts of DR and different backgrounds. Edwin loves TOR and Jose is all business. He sees an Edwin ext and Jose walking for his last deal based on who and where they are in their lives/careers. A min of 4/80mm for Edwin is a big ticket but you may be right BTS. I don't like the Vmart deal.
  12. I know what his numbers are but 5/100 is not going to happen. If it does I wish the E-Rex well. I think he is a better candidate for accepting a reasonable 3 year extension than Jose.
  13. Edwin wont get close to that. Jose will.
  14. Not to worry. He is going to snap his back on an Estrada change.
  15. Jesus. What a bomb....they just cant find a hole in this guy.
  16. Sadly, an Edwin rental wont have that much value 2016. He is only a poor 1B or DH option. Some teams looking to add RH power like the Mets did with Cespedes would for sure have an interest, but a high A prospect? He has veto regardless.
  17. Yup...thats exactly what happened. He could be very good. Just needs command of that FB and secondary pitch...but you can say that about a lot of arms. His FB down in the zone alone is very tough for a hitter to elevate.
  18. http://www.fangraphs.com/statsplits.aspx?playerid=3395&position=SS&season=0 Yup, he sucks at the plate both sides....but sucks more hitting RH. We net lose starting him against Hamels.
  19. He isn't as good of a hitter as he showed that last few weeks but he isn't as bad as the last 4 games either. When he was swinging it ok against LHP he was being very selective and staying short punching balls into LF. Lets hope he can do that against Hamels a time or two. When you get those kinds of contributions from Pillar and Goins this line is unstoppable.
  20. Hope not. We shouldn't need offense at every pos and ill take the glove over Penny's poor bat. Having said that I wouldn't hesitate to pinch hit Goins one second in key situation.
  21. This Sanchez looks like a much different Sanchez than the one who gave up that 3 run bomb to Beltran weeks ago. The ball is jumping out of his hand and in counts where he has to make a pitch he is getting it done. With Cecil down timing for this couldn't be any better. Osuna getting it done also but more fly balls and contact than I'd like. But ill take it.
  22. ^ this times infinity squared.
  23. That guy is a beast. He got 2 hits and almost 3...and made all the plays....and he couldn't move. unreal player.
  24. I love Jose and the way he plays. He has the "dropsies" in RF but he has given us everything he has all the time. He wont be fully appreciated until he is gone sadly.
  25. Its easy to say now that the Jose deal was "team friendly" but at the time it was controversial with Bautista coming out of nowhere to go from 16 HR to 54. There were a lot of skeptics in FO's he would ever come close to repeating that performance. There was endless PED speculation. Jose is a hard nosed business man and knew this. So did his Agent. At the time it was a fair deal for Jose and the Jays. Props to AA for having the balls to sign him long term.
