  1. He was great bro but sample size matters.
  2. Ross already fired his pick Buntoyo. Firing his pick Schneider et al would ensure he used his last life line.
  3. Terrible frame job on that 2-2 pitch. Garcia what a job!! Now lets hit the ball boys.
  4. Valdez is tough. Like 9 WAR the last couple seasons. I can't explain last night lol. Berrios is keeping us in it. Pray.
  5. Belt had a 138 wRC+ and was a LHH. JT was 114 last year and projects 105 costing more than Belt. He is hot right now and has always had a good approach. But I don’t know how he is an upgrade.
  6. Jose dealing. So much better than ‘22 when his stuff got hammered consistently leaking back over the middle of the plate.
  7. 100% I don't draw any more conclusions from that no hitter, than I do from a 39 yr old JT having a hot Game 4, but projected 105. I don't know what Clement really is yet etc. etc. etc. Its such a long season - ups and downs and sample sizes right now are tiny. Its not that likely, but there is a decent chance they come right back and hammer Valdez today.
  8. Varsho “chopping down trees” swing and spring narrative buzz produces IF hit.
  9. Vlad looks better at plate so far. Last thing I want him thinking about is playing 3B. He just needs to sit at 1B, lay off s*** and mash in the zone.
  10. Man good to see these at bats. They worked him over until Justin came through.
  11. W tomorrow. Happily take a split at the Trop.
  12. Ya, I think he makes it but I don't think a lot of fans will be showing up with the Davis 'stache this yr. Its only ST - lets hope he turns it up for the real deal.
  13. Just woke up in AZ. Turn on TV. Real baseball on. Manny smashes first pitch into LF stands. So good to see it back!!
  14. Ya. Just in general. Things change so much in ball. Belt was awful to start. Ends up 138. Chappy was great first month and then…spring is such a sss and varied competition level it’s hard to make judgements. I don’t have a better mousetrap.
  15. ST narratives in full flight with everyone in the best shape of their life. Player X has bad game (s) and its only Spring Training. Who cares? "They are working on something". Player X has good run, and should 100% be on the team. Can't wait for March 28th and "fo' real" baseball.
  16. Schneider is the quintessential darling of the casual. They all think he will be a "30 HR 100 RBI guy". They haven't heard of WAR or projections but they will forever cling to his historic debut and mustache in 2023. I'll take the under he produces his projection in '24. Still hope he is on the team. Love Votto but he could be a nice little story or a total blip here and gone. Its incredible how much media coverage and comments on X etc there are. Neither him or Vogelbach are great options. Guy hits a couple of spring home runs and some fans swooning.
  17. 86 Wins for reasons mentioned. Huge season for Bo/Vlad window. Deadline deals will be really interesting. Listened to Passan this week. FWIW doesn't have us a playoff team. Calls O's and Yanks better. Points out last years rotation was 2016 healthy which is very rare. "Old team" and he doesn't bet on old teams.
  18. If anyone thinks Chappy struggled at the plate last year, wait until we watch 2 years of IKF. This off season has been epic.
  19. Such a big year for rotation while we anticipate seeing if the offense will improve. The D should be solid again regardless. Gausman - Almost into house money on his deal after 2 seasons. Great signing. Berrios & Kooch - Big year for them. They gave us net 0.4 total net WAR in 2022 for $35M and 5.6 WAR for $29M in 2023 with bounce back. Hound - 200 IP & 2.6 WAR in 2023 for $21M. Will be 36 with 2/42 left. Can he do it again, or similar. Manoah - Who knows? His name could change to Francis or Yariel quick. Hoping the ST start was a blip, but 3 HBP is concerning lol. We don't talk about the pen much now, like we did in 2021 and parts of '22. Its solid. Not elite. Lots of options if healthy. Green needs to be impacting. Pearson and White X factors again. Sort of.
  20. Ya, thats fair. I think we are thump light. Or to quote Spank - ISO. Now if Vlad hits 40 and Springer and Bo bang 30 each problem solved? I'm not thrilled about Turner. Love the player in his prime but at 39, middle of our order is not where I want to see him. The ST narratives around him are so typical. He is a coach and a great clubhouse guy...a teacher...almost yogic and Svengali. His BoSox won 78 games last year. Actually, he might just be our 4 hole bat. Projects 105. Gulp Last year Belt was a "winner" who has "been there and done that" to show the way. At least he produced a 138 wRC+ Killer signing. At the EOD, this all just comes down to performance. Not saying the "intangibles" have no value, but WAY too much is made of the vetrin presents etc.
  21. Ya, He wasn't alone. He has a history of moving early to hedge in case of a surging market. He likes some insurance early - guys like Roark, extending Grichuk, taking an early shot on Yates, Kendrys Morales etc. This off season IKF and KK. Given how the market has shifted 2/15 for a guy with 0.2 WAR in '23 makes even less sense. OTOH his 1 year deals have been mostly very successful. Still a bit surprised PECOTA projects Yanks 94 W's and us 88.
  22. Ya, agree. I just scratch my head sometimes. How did we end up with this size of payroll and the oldest line up & rotation in the AL East? Its not what I expected. Lets hope it works out.
  23. I don't disagree but who has a higher probability of a 4 WAR season in 2024? Chappy's hard hit % and high avg EV numbers in '23 plus his D. I'd bet on him over Bellinger having a higher WAR in ''24.
  24. Bellinger deal gives actuals clarity to this market. I think the epitaph on this off season will say that Boras did overplay his hand. Who wouldn't do 1/30 on a pillow for Chappy with our window? Rogers maybe. Its overpay but its 1 year. He ticks a lot of boxes for us. Or even a deal similar to Bellinger's with Bo & Vlad around this yr and next. We didn't get the bat we hoped (no disrespect to JT). Even with last yrs frustrating season offensively, Chappy was 30% better than IKF's career number.
