I know. I know almost all on here know. More talking about Jays Twitter and the more casual observers expectations. He is still super young and his stuff is hard to argue with. With social media now anytime he throws a pitch its all over the place. Still lots of time to develop, but he won't be in our rotation soon. Unless its a spot start in a pinch as an opener, which would be fun to see.

So much hype around Ricky in our fan base as if there is already an assumption he will become a top of rotation SP in our in the very near future. Not sure what the probability is but at this point without good odds I would not bet on it. Between the injuries, lack of pitches he is throwing and performance blips it’s no sure thing.

Yep. In between on everything. Swinging at balls and not able to square up pitches in the zone he is ripping at. His BA on fastballs has steadily declined since '21. I mean it ain't easy to square up 100 but...he is Vlad. And he is missing breaking stuff in the zone too.

Bo has been pretty dam consistent hacking away to a 126 wRC+ for his career. I won't be surprised at all if he puts up another similar season.

Bo was quiet most of 2022 too hovering around 100 wRC+. He got ungodly hot the last 6 -8 weeks ending up with a 5 WAR season.

Love what I see obviously, but I'm not as sold on them as many long term. SSS. I'd like to see Jays ride them as the hot hand(s) more. Davis is definitely dangerous if you make a mistake - kind of an ambush pull hitter like Jansen, and he has a solid pitch selection.

Crazy game. To think that we haven't hit, but we might come out of today 4-4 based on pitching and a HR from Davis and Clement of all people.

Just catching up on PVR. Kooch got robbed on that 3-2 to Stanton on 97 on the black for the K in the 3rd. Came right back with that slider for the K. Nails. Then Stro gets a SL off the plate called a strike vs Kirk. Frustrating. No wonder he chased that pitch away.

I'm not a rosy optimist or shill for this FO or team but I honestly cant see this. I think I predicted they win 86 and I still think thats going to happen at a minimum. The O is concerning yes. JT is hot but he projects 105. He will hit some valleys over the season. Stevie Wonder could have seen that we didn't add enough offense - and the FO weighted projections for the likes of Kirk and Springer to have big rebounds too aggressively in establishing the roster. I would discount their projections more. Kirk is fat/slow and Springer is older and brittle. I don't give laurels for "being in on" targets or attempts. This isn't the try league and in business, coffee is for closers. It takes 2 to tango for every GM, but their job is literally to find a way to make our targets tango with us. And they get paid well for it. But no matter who we added on the edges, if Bo and Vlad aren't 5 ish WAR stars the team is going to just grind. No way around it. They still might take off. After 7 games I can't pronounce the 2024 Jays DOA lol. After 50-60 we will know a hell of a lot more.

Getting there quickly now. They already fired 1 hand picked Manager playing that card. We could do much worse and they have put a relatively competitive team on the field since 2020. But after 8 years we have a very expensive, old team with disappointing success in player development that has significant impact at the MLB level. Snapshot in time (as it is with all team's rankings) has our farm 18-20 dropping to 23-25 if Ricky comes up. Not impressive. Yes we have renos and cup holders now, but I'd go to games in Exhibition Stadium if we had a great team and sustainable winner. All is not lost. This is a big year for them and how they handle whether its a run or they move major assets because we flop, it will be jugular for them.

Got to give it at least 50 games or so before we go there, at least for me. If they come out of this road trip 5-5 thats a victory. I agree that last yr was the first time ever I wouldn't hit some games when in TOR. Boring and kind of unlikeable team to watch. Down 4-0 felt like it was over all '23 season.
