Unlikely but not impossible. But even if they are great in MLB you have to evaluate things at the time of the trade. candymartinez recently posted a fangraphs analysis of the RA deal at the time it was made and the thesis was that it was comparable to market, but few here will ever see it that way now. Regardless a lot of guys hated the RA deal from the get go. We gave up young arms for JD too, but because of his season there aren't many complaints about that deal.
Anytime you deal for a known commodity like Tulo and throw in Hawkins (if you believe the narrative about his leadership qualities for the pen) you have to pay in potential future upside plus an inferior known quantity in Reyes. Without Price and Tulo I don't think we see the playoffs this year I am thankful we aren't going into 2016 or 2017 with Reyes at SS. We could win the WS in 2016 if we can address the pitching.
Admittedly 2017 is much sketchier but that's why Shapiro is there.
