  1. Biggest complaint I had all year against Gibby was his over reliance on Sanchez and under utilization of Hendriks. I think it was a concern shared by many.
  2. He is ok but his numbers against LHH will keep him from becoming an arm I like to see in high leverage. Ok with him staying in the pen.
  3. Slow ball news day.
  4. He is grumpy but he is probably one of the best posters left over on that shanty town of a board. He has some knowledge. Are Sempai and BJ Kneepads still over there? I haven't looked in so long.
  5. Org and L54 are really solid posters...foreign or not.
  6. Ya. That's fine. I have an immediate JPR default bias.
  7. Who is really upset? I could give a s*** about anything JPR says to anyone ever. I just don't know what his objective is. That's all. Yawn.
  8. JPR is a tool. Can't say as I miss him at all. I'm not sure what his objective is here.
  9. Started. I can't bare to watch it. They peaked again at the right time when we were sliding back a tad. Giant f***ing horseshoes up their ass. I guess that's ball.
  10. I joined right away pretty much but just read posts in 2013. Stuck to old board until it became too much to take. Started posting GDT in 2014 and more in 2015 with this years season. Effit and Nafro are relatively new I think and have been good new contributors. Vote for MIP "most improved poster" is Trouba. Insufferable during GDT's his contributions this off season much better.
  11. I'm copping out and not voting except for a few positives. We all know the negatives. Love this Board (even the posters I don't much care for) and enjoy interacting with everyone who engages, except the one poster on my IL. Very appreciative of the opportunity to vent and debate ball and other matters. I like to think I've learned a lot from many on here that have a good deal of knowledge on ball and other subjects. Much more than I. Most people I know are ball retarded and its impossible to discuss it with them. For best over poster I'd go with IW, KingKat, NJH or BTS, Dinger in no order. G-Snarls is the nicest poster and a good Mod. Hon mention to Gov, GD and Deadpool. There are too many good ones to name them all. Have enjoyed Thanos enthusiasm as a new member. Spanky is a guy that contributes a ton unless he gets sucked into warring with trolls or is banned. Can't imagine the board without him. King breaks more news than Shi Dividi for us. What a year and looking forward to 2016. Thanks all.
  12. Shapiro could be just pissing in all 4 corners in this role with new team and the players agents. Money talks whenever it's offered, and I'm sure Edwin would like to stay here if the deal is right. Not sure he doesn't try to put something together with Edwin, but I expect we are looking at picks for both Edwin and Jose B and ill miss them.
  13. Shot across the bow by Shapiro to Edwin's agent that he isn't going to have timing of negotiation and terms dictated to him in public.
  14. Fair comment. What Edwin did at 30-32 doesn't necessarily inform what he does at 35. Ortiz had a dip in 09 at 33 to 100 wRC+. There was a lot of talk he was finished then, but he rebounded as he got older well. Doesn't often happen. To my point above, its interesting to compare their spray charts below. Edwin is an elite bat. His contact and K rates are great with that power. A reasonable ext is worth discussing seriously. http://www.fangraphs.com/spraycharts.aspx?playerid=745&position=DH&type=battedball&pid2=745&ss1=2015&se1=2015&ss2=2012&se2=2015&cht1=battedball&cht2=battedball&vs1=ALL&vs2=ALL http://www.fangraphs.com/spraycharts.aspx?playerid=2151&position=3B&type=battedball&pid2=2151&ss1=2015&se1=2015&ss2=2012&se2=2015&cht1=hangtime&cht2=battedball&vs1=ALL&vs2=ALL
  15. I think Ortiz does a better job of hitting the ball away and driving it to CF and LCF than Edwin and its one of the reasons he is still elite at that age. It's rare.
  16. If there are reasonable terms on the table, it will happen with this mgm group.
  17. Fair comment. Its really all about evaluating risk. I was looking for some AA quotes (not that he speaks the gospel on this subject) on this issue that I thought were interesting from last year on this topic. But I cant find them.
  18. I think they took them for the same reason. Edwin had only put up one and bit big seasons before the extensions. Edwin's D was more limited than Jose who had a 6.5 WAR in his breakout season. They were fair deals for both sides at the time with some risk that they were both one hit wonders.
  19. That's not really an absolute. It CAN cost more money. OR you could extend someone who turns into Romero( or Moore perhaps) and in those cases the extension could actually cost you more money. Players don't always continue to improve.
  20. http://fullcount.weei.com/sports/bos...al-to-be-done/ Further to this discussion. Herp just posted this in a new thread but Jose will follow suit likely. Edwin paid his dues on a team friendly deal, but now that he is an established masher he is going to cash in.
  21. agreed. picks coming, or deals if we are out of it in 2016.
  22. That's a given. Its a matter of profiling risk. Sometimes teams want more information before they lock into a bigger investment even if it costs them more later. AA went on about that a lot in his tenure. Im not opposed to a reasonable ext for Stro of course. Matt Moore's deal is interesting. Since 150 IP in 2013 he has struggled. Remains to be seen if he bounces back and that turns into a good deal for Rays.
  23. I may be missing something here. Have a large number of MLB pitchers been signed to long extensions after 160 IP? Is this a thing?
  24. Fair. But Id like to gain more information on him than 160ish IP in MLB. 30 more starts this year and agreed it may be time to talk ext. Hopefully we only have one Romero in our lifetime. The Rays deal with Chris Archer looks very smart right now.
  25. It's probably early on Stro with the control we have. Good luck to us with the other 3. Only ext I see possible there for anything remotely reasonable is Edwin and not optimistic on that. I see both JB and Edwin moving on.
