  1. Joe Siddall said the same thing, and he I actually like most of the time.
  2. He was filthy in 2013 K'ing 12.58 per 9. However, he also BB'ed 4.45 per 9 indicating what was to come lol. He story is amazing and in 2014 it was a big part of the promo for the team. I remember watching it at the RC on the big screens. Its too bad.
  3. Not really. ST is what it is. Now that the decision is made I'm into acceptance mode and excited to see what he does with another shot. I'd so love to be wrong about him as a SP. Hutch has to be upset but I hope he can turn that into motivation. Sometimes you find out the player you have with that kind of adversity. Its not the same as Hutch I know, but I remember when both Delgado and Halladay got sent down. They turned out kinda decent.
  4. I was hoping Floyd would get it too. On Valencia, AA told a good friend of mine he led the Valencia decision. I didn't believe the "bad in the clubhouse" thing either, but AA told him face to face over dinner that the guy was all about the dough 24/7 and he got cancerous. So they kept Cola who was just happy to be in MLB.
  5. Thanks. Keeping fingers crossed. So far we have had a relatively smooth spring on the injury list. Let's hope we stay lucky all season. I know it was probably over his head but an. 859 OPS from 2B with this line up?
  6. You know its going well for your team when Alcides or Pat Borders (92) are WS MVPs. Didn't everyone feel it when Alomar hit that one off of Eck. A "this is finally our year" feeling.
  7. lol. Excuses? Instead of 3-1 count against Davis its 2-2. Totally different ABs. Those pitches weren't called all game and were unhittable off of him, mixed in with the sink he has. Sometimes umps calls influence the outcome of a game. Its a reality. In this case it did and the pitch tracker was clear. These were egregious calls. I don't know how many idiots Ive heard tell me we lost cause we didn't use "small ball" and we didn't bunt to "manufacture" runs when we "aren't homering". Bautista put us back in the game with a bomb, and Pompey stole 2 f***ing bases to get to 3B (isnt that part of "manufacturing runs"?). We did still get JD up and he didn't get it done which ended the game, but thats ball. With 2 outs its harder to get that run in. KC was good but they got hot and lucky at the right time when we cooled down. JD smashing that snagged liner to 3B earlier with 2 on illustrated to me that things just weren't going our way. For them every bouncer found a hole. I think their BABIP was over .400 for the series.
  8. 2 one strike high and away calls on Navvy and Revere against a guy who can't get those calls is what put it away for KC.
  9. How dare you?! I don't see Pillar putting up a 4+ WAR again. He just isn't league avg hitter and I cannot imagine he will stay healthy again with the way he plays the OF. I watched the Jays Top 50 plays 2015 on Sportsnet and the guy had an incredible year on D. I think of the 50 he probably had 12 of the plays, all on D. He had a highlight reel season.
  10. Other teams have had worse for sure so far. I used to think Reyes was going to break every time he slid so im used to feelings of impending doom @ SS.
  11. This is absolutely true. I just have to believe (admittedly havent/can't do the math) that a higher payroll, if required, could see a very beneficial financial return in a country geared up to support the Jays from coast to coast. But I'm sure Rogers has crunched all the numbers.
  12. Loving this interview with Obama. Sport can help do what politicians can't always do. The audacity of hope.
  13. This is incredible. Just tuned on KK's hit. Great spectacle for their country and MLB. Been to Cuba 5 times and love it. Baseball is such a passion there. I'm thrilled to see Obama reaching out to re-establish relations, but selfishly one of my fav things about going to Cuba is lack of 'Muricans.
  14. Few want to see Edwin and/or Jose go but: 1. Being truly competitive and winning long term will make people forgot them, AA and Price. 2. With the money we save not signing them we will invest in other above replacement level assets that provide better overall value. 3. They leave a parting legacy of 2 picks at a minimum when they walk.
  15. Lol. You are talking about our lead off hitter! Maybe I'm wrong but Sanchez has had a big taste of the bigs including playoffs and he will want to start...but not in BUFF. It's kind of moot anyway because he doesn't have a choice.
  16. He has options but the only way he goes to BUFF willingly is if they roofie him.
  17. Choking on the Hendriks deal with Chavez in the pen. But it's a long season and I guess mgm thought he gave us more SP depth. Steep price given the control we gave up with it.
  18. I can't see that happening in a win year. I still think we need him in the pen vs RHH.
  19. I'm with you on that. He looks solid enough. Sanchez has pitched well in ST. I'm just thrilled we have a 4 way comp for the 5th spot of reasonable options and I've finally gotten over nitemares about Redmond.
  20. Agreed. I just can't get past the nose. Kind of Seinfeldian.
  21. Its fun to watch. I'm so f***ing glad we got we rid of that over priced wifebeater (allegedly).
  22. His rise like a phoenix from the offensive ashes continues (at least in ST). I don't really care what he hits but if can get his OBP to be around what it was 2nd half last season Ill be more than happy. His BB rate took off.
  23. I'm ok with Pompey or Ceciliani as 4th OF. Its actually a pretty important decision who stays. There will be injuries. Saunders is so unlucky Vegas has opened up a line on what date Pillar's nose will put him on the DL.
  24. NJH and BTS made some good points I hadn't been considering enough. If its a Ceciliani gamble I can see the argument for it better now. I don't know what the war value delta will be with Pompey and Ceciliani. Nobody does. The 4th OF will likely get lots of playing time and if Ceciliani flounders, I don't want to waste time f***ing around in a win year. Bring Pompey up.
