    I get this "clubhouse hierarchy" rationale but I don't agree with applying it. The point isn't that Pillar leading off is the definitive reason we are 5-5. Its not. Clearly. The point is that its not necessary and there are better choices which increase our probability of attaining greater results. The same can be said for having Carerra on the roster over better choices and for playing Cola @ 1B facing RHP in NY with that RF porch. At some point maybe they get replaced sure. But that's not really the point either. If he wants to challenge Pillar, tell him to strive for a .330 OBP at the bottom of the order and he give him a shot to lead off at some point. He didn't have to play it out now with Pillar.

    ^ in bold. The average fan thinks Pillar is a very good hitter too, because of those catches they remember last season. Same folks think he was robbed of the "Gold Glove".

    Going into our 11th gm our "leadoff hitter" hasn't walked once lol. Gibby drives me fking nuts sometimes. Sticking with my prediction he will give him 4-6 weeks. Pillar's results and Cola's BABIP drop = most obvious predictions.

    Black out if I can - most of my friends know this so don't mention it and I try not to look at my mobile in case I got a text or something on it. Doesn't always work.

    That's the beauty of the assets in this O. If healthy, when JD and Jose cool off, E-Rex may get some "hat tricks" and other bats will pick them up. Watched gm on PVR. Stro was good. 17 GBs?! Goins has a been more shaky with the mitt than we are used to. He picks that ball (he has to - he has one job) and maybe no runs over 8 IP. Bring on the BoSox.

    Who has uglier ABS on this team than Pillar? Smoak occassionally maybe.

    I don't think his swing has ever looked really good. He is a hacker who takes all kinds of different swings depending on where the ball he is chasing is. His 2015 93 wRC+ is probably his ceiling.

    We also talked talked lot about Drabek's stuff. How much time was spent discussing McGowan's recovery process for various seemingly endless injuries? Shame when he did finally return it fizzled so poorly.

    I agree with that, at least from what I see happening. He seems to be missing, taking or fouling off a lot of pitches that look hittable. Then he chases crap more than I expect. Enigma at this point.

    Ug. That reality is depressing. Votto had a couple lean power years after he had lower body non hip labrum issues. But his pop has returned, so I really hope same can happen for Tulo. Even with loss of power that doesn't explain the reduced contact rates does it? Bat speed loss? He is maintaining his BB rate which you would expect.

    He is also there because he was cheaper than Valencia. I hope its not the end of Cola but a guy with those D limitations can only stay on this roster if he produces well above avg offensively. I think he is the BABIP pumpkin most predicted he would be. It was a good story I loved, while it lasted. Gibby is going to have to get over the emotional connection to this guy. A lot of fans had no idea the rate at which this guy K'ed last year. All was forgiven cause the balls just kept landing in the right place.

    I know this is going to happen if we stay healthy. This team is just too good to be 3-5. Right now we are playing like ass - since Jose called out to end Game 3 on the slide - 2nd f***ed pick off attempt @ 2B costs runs - Cecil walk and a dink into LF costs run - striking out at a rate we won't sustain thankfully - wasting a ton of decent starts from our rotation etc etc. Who didn't see that McCann HR coming if Sanny threw him a FB in? Argh. Today is the first day of the rest of our season. We win this series.
