  1. 2014 was an outlier with PITT and we are paying for that. His 2015 3.5 WAR and great value for us. When he is at his best he shows legit pop to RCF, but that's been missing 2016. Watching him now, its shocking to imagine how he had a .400 OBP in 2014. After the JPA and Navarro years, he is an expensive and valuable anchor. Its still early and I look for him to produce a lot more. It bothers me to see McCann doing so much better to this point 2016, as he is a solid comparable @ 32.
  2. His shtick only works if he delivers consistently. If he doesn't its just annoying. He has left the bases loaded a couple times(NYY and CWS)and the pen hasn't gotten it done for him. It would be easy to blame the pen, but the real issue is the BBs and contact are up...the balls are bouncing through. This kid shouldn't have an xFIP of 4. He isn't using his other pitches or the upper half of the zone enough. Hitters are only looking to the bottom of the zone against him, which gives them the whole upper half of and around the zone. I'm confident he has the stuff to figure this out at some point this season.
  3. Travis please.
  4. We know he can and should be better. He is pitching to contact with a low K rate and ground balls all day chewing up IP like RA. He is a very different pitcher from 2014, and now pounds the ball down and around the zone almost exclusively. BB/9 is up. Still as cocky as ever, but the performance isn't really backing it up by any informed statistical measure. Is he a #1 or #2 with the current approach? Does he need to change it and if so, does he have the stuff to do it?
  5. Exactly. f***. He has enough movement and great D. Just f***ing rear back and throw the ball elevating sometimes with that lead. I appreciate locating as much as the next fan, but the 2 seamer isn't the be all end all. I want to see him be more aggressive in the zone and if he gets beat sometimes, so be it. Cecil let him down but he left the situation out there with a huge lead. That's not front end starting.
  6. Just watched end of game on PVR. Stro let down by the pen but its getting too familiar with him falling behind nibbling the bottom of the zone. BB and BABIP luck. Rinse and Repeat. Throw the f***ing 4 S upstairs some more and get some Ks...not dribbling f***ing ground balls. Cecil just ain't Cecil...he isn't getting the swing and miss on his breaking ball yet. Liked our pen to start season but its been a train wreck overall. Brutal. Doesn't get easier tomorrow. Cant wait to watch Thole, Carerra and Goins flail against Sale.
  7. Yes. Because Zeke is 29 years old and we already know what kind of player he is. This success won't continue. Saunders was pounding the ball when he went down.
  8. The GDT thread had a debate about this....some said: A. Hutch is bad at holding runners. Its not Thole's fault. B. Holy f*** what a noodle arm Thole has AND Hutch sucks at holding runners. C. Hutch sucks at holding runners. Thole sucks and RA sucks too, but can hold runners on well. I'm leaning to B or C.
  9. I know they are/have both been injured for the 3rd time lol. That's not the point. Who knows what would have happened if either of them never got sent down. Our 4th OF is getting lots of ABs, as expected/predicted and that will continue. I don't see how Pompey (forget about turf toe for a second) would have had his development impeded by this role, although he would have burned a year as an asset....as some have mentioned. Dalton has to learn to produce at MLB level. Zeke has had a great couple gms aside from the injuries, which will make this all moot anyway. He isn't going anywhere for awhile. Lets hope he can continue to produce. His WAR is higher already than 2015
  10. That's always been his issue. Loses it....falls behind and gets hurt in a big inning.
  11. Goins so far is BB ing half as much as he did 2015 and K'ing over 20% of the time. Lets hope he gets it together.
  12. Barney Magic returns. No more Barney drunken bottle memes from G-Snarls
  13. lol....I know. I have been bitching about him for weeks. Good for him. Off a LHP no less.
  14. I think he has been locating all pitches pretty well. I don't like to see him falling behind like he has to the last couple hitters, but he is coming back on them. 95 MPH 4S FB upstairs. Id like to see Stro use that more.
  15. Hutch is an enigma. He can have such good stuff.
  16. He is. But those throws have been rainbows and not in a good location on the bag.
  17. Looked like a pretty decent pitch down in the zone. Sometimes you gotta tip your cap
  18. Looking forward to E-Rex getting locked in. He is just missing some pitches he doesn't when he is really hot.
  19. Just easy to slide him into a start and back to BUFF. Take some IP pressure off the staff and move everyone back.
  20. Been to a lot of games and only caught my first ever foul ball in Phoenix spring training off Mike Trout this year. Gave it to my son who was with me so no issue lol Lets go Hutch. Big game from you!
