  1. Pompey did for sure.
  2. Could be a lot worse when rotation arms go down. Some time off for Jose should be ok. He really hasn't been that good (for him) on offense and shockingly I think Zeke may provide more value on D. Wish Dalton was coming up. Every team deals with these things through 162. I don't think we are too bad off.
  3. f***. I knew it. If Bautista would have just been stretching his toes a little more we could have avoided all this.
  4. Don't want to get ahead of myself but after Mike Wright's comments about the holes in Edwin's swing last time he faced them, I'd really love to him(and others) light him up tonight. http://www.thescore.com/mlb/news/1015771-orioles-wright-encarnacion-is-over-hyped
  5. Jose is fond of saying this is a business and its about the high bid primarily with no home town discounts. That's fair but that works both ways when it comes to paying premiums for past and current performance. Having said that he is very capable of getting hot and putting up some monster 2nd half numbers, if he can stay on the field.
  6. For all the talk about Jose defying aging curves because his yogic abilities, he has been banged up a lot over the last few years. His hip again...his toe last night....his shoulder. He looks more awful in the OF and the only + asset he had in his arm is now a negative. He is a 1B/DH option only at this point really. He will maintain his eye and pop, but he is basically a dead pull hitter with numbers I expect will continue to decline. Any contract might have 1/2 more well above avg bat years, but after that its a total crap shoot. His WAR this season is 0.8. He has a lot of work to do to get back to close to 2015 4.5.
  7. I'm actually looking forward to seeing Sanchez back in the pen. If the offense is performing we can get by with Hutch, Floyd or Chavez in the rotation. If Sanchez success against LHH carries over into the pen he is a great 1/2 inning addition. And if Cecil can be lethal again we should be a hell of a lot better lock down pen.
  8. Meh. Their O's offense is legit and their pen is solid. Going to come down to who stays healthy, and moves made to plug holes. All 3 of these teams are pretty close. Still like our chances as I expect our offense to lead the pack for at least a couple months of whats left. Also like the depth we have at SP to backfill Sanchez going to the pen.
  9. Joe Siddal losing his mind over the out call on Pillar. Can't blame him.
  10. Was total BS - Happ had the K. Same pitch ump called Jose on in the 1st. They give it to Parades but ring up the guy with the most BBs in the AL. Idiots just love to do that to JB.
  11. .... f*** I love E-Rex time every season. Back to back jacks with our secret weapon - Saunders.
  12. Ump changes inning with brutal call on Jose....yet again. I really hope Happ gets those pitches
  13. Its crazy. The first 4-5 weeks he (and Tulo) honestly looked like he just one day forgot how to hit....period. Now he is putting balls in play with authority and his BB ratio is climbing and K's coming down. I'm not worried about Martin's D numbers. He is still quick and has a cannon. His offensive demons were probably hurting his D. That's can be a thing. It must have been tough. I think this offense will have a long run when they are better than the BoSox and O's. Its comin' bruther.
  14. Ya I am. Grant, I know their pitching issues, but they are scoring about 6 runs a game. That leaves a lot of room for error. Price and Wright have been pretty solid. The O's pen and Tillman have been solid for them. Our rotation has kept us in this division even with Stro and Happ coming apart at the seams lately. I"m still pleasantly suprised when you look at how bad and/or unlucky our pen has been. And our offense is starting to look more 2015 lately. Martin looks like a brand new hitter. Was a shame Tulo went down when he was on a roll with the stick. It will be a good test for them tonight.
  15. Its pretty shocking to me with how bad our offense has been and with our pen struggles juxtaposed against red hot offenses for the BoSox and O's that we only sit 2 out. You have to think our offense will have its time as #1 again this season and our pen is performing better overall. Unless there is a rotation meltdown we are looking pretty good going into the rest of this season. In terms of the rotation, having Hutch, Floyd and Chavez as depth gives me confidence they will be fine if not great.
  16. He really is. His first AB tonight was awful but he got it going. Pulled one to LF. Loved that line drive to RF. Just like last year.
  17. who doesn't love a good continuous yodel?
  18. Estrada still trying to find it tonight. But battling as usual.
  19. That was NOT a good pitch to throw Edwin. He hammered that.
  20. Probably wouldn't hurt but Travis is having some good ABs. I don't think he is far off. He is missing some pitches away still he was driving last year. He doesn't look overmatched like Goins and Barney is coming back down to earth.
  21. lol.....no kidding. I didn't even think about it as I couldn't imagine them having neg WAR!! (except Zeke)Dumb on my part. Wont do that again. thx for pointing out.
  22. Me as well. He has done a hell of a job overall.
  23. why? I don't get it. what am I missing Gov?
  24. 2016 Jays WAR: Jose Bautista 0.9 Edwin 0.9 ZEKE 0.8 LONG way to go in this season for these numbers to change, but when you factor in aging curves and $40mm "ish" per for these two in 2017, its starts to paint the picture of what a gamble this is for mgm. These two have just not been very good this year yet. Edwin has been raking lately so lets hope they both get hot.
