    Kind of like Matt Boyd was a nice break for us in a spot start. It should be good for us but lets hope they get it done between the lines tonight. So glad the break is over.

    BoSox are trying to win THIS year too. They hit a ton and their pitching sucks. They just added a 2.5 WAR SP for someone who might be really good. Few turn out the way Noah has so far and they are gambling its worth the risk. I think its a good deal for them.

    I guess that's my point. Shoulder, toe, hip...no amount of yoga is going to slow down much the beating of playing RF for a 36-37 year old. Which makes him a DH and any long term expensive deal like he wants too risky.

    Those 2 are big holes to fill but so far this year they have provided only 3.3 WAR in 2 roster spots and we have 50 wins at the AS Break. With the money we would save in not signing them there is room to backfill that loss. I see 3 years as the max risk we could take on them, and even that scares the hell out of me with their expected AAV. Have to say though that if Jose doesn't come back with a vengeance, his value will drop big time. DL/lost production/age = risk The big argument for a 5 year deal some were making was how well he kept himself in shape and that that would allow him to beat aging curves. The guy has had hip, shoulder and now toe issues of all things.

    Sounds like every hockey player interview "we are going to keep it simple. Get pucks down low and on the net. Work hard. Play it one shift at a time" He is doing a good job at keeping expectations minimal.

    Me too. Maybe they will be forced to trade for Mike Aviles and have to give him to us again.

    No kidding. What memories. Gm 6 made us endure endless "the Royals way" comments. Martin scorched a ball with 2 on. I think that JD liner to 3rd for an out have an exit V of 110. No luck. Price went to his breaking ball a lot after the HR and the Caleb 2B and started pitched well. The strike calls to Navvy and Revere against Davis finished us snuffing out the rally. I'm still bitter. To be that close and have to the umps affect the outcome so drastically. The difference between 2-2 and 3-1 against Davis is everything. Even with all that, at the end of the day we had the right guy at the plate in JD and he just couldn't find a hole. 2016 is a big year for us.

    Got the All Star Break blues going on. Watching the 7th of Game 5 against TEX on YouTube to wash them away. Its sometimes easy to forget just how rare, crazy, awesome that was. Never seen anything like it.

    True, but not as bad a fall as Esmil. Yan has battled some injuries. C is such a hard position.

    We hate on Thole and him taking up a roster spot. And I get that. But 800k for neg .3 WAR vs Navarro neg .1 WAR for $4mm. I wonder if we make too much of our Thole disdain sometimes. I guess it's because he is tied to RA and all he can do is supposedly catch a KB well. And no, thanks RA but time to move on.

    Me too. I am trying to view it as the upside is every day Jose's toe and Estrada's back should be getting better without missing any games.

    Interesting. Not saying he is a Grilli, but when we got Grilli is BB rate and numbers splits vs LHH (like Vmart was on Sat) were AWFUL.

    There already is a report tying him to PEDS. Ortiz would have to break through that and none have yet. Also he is a DH. Another knock. Emar hasn't made it and an argument can be made he is more worthy of it.

    Just not squaring up pitches away like he does when he locked in. He stands so far from the plate I don't know how he gets to them.
