  1. Its too bad. They are just good-not good enough. Perceived under performance or performance expectations were too high. Big money signings that haven't worked out - dead money or under expected performance. Glaring holes being glaring. Too RH'ed. Lack of contributing depth. Pen issues. Even though they have stayed relatively healthy. Anyone who expected a full season of Springer was overly optimistic. With the Braves winning last year some people clinging to "just get in and get hot at the right time". Sure. Thats possible not probable with the talent that will be faced. Even death row inmates have the feint hope clause to lean on.
  2. But he is a "professional hitter". Another RH bat, and a mediocre one at that. Exactly what we needed.
  3. I guess this is the post deadline signings WAR counter. Things like Yimi's blown save vs the O's Tues, who he also signed(ya, overall been pretty good) don't count.
  4. Wicked movement in on Jano and LGJ. Had them swinging at pitches way inside. Pray Romano holds em because I dont want to see the next arm coming out of their pen at all.
  5. That sucks with Tapia but what a play at 2B to not let that get by him, wheel and throw home. Tapia got a bit of a late break at 2B for 2 out in the replay. Cost us.
  6. 1-1 We have a ballgame. Every remaining gm against these wildcard teams in the hunt is going to feel like a playoff game.
  7. Ya, he is good. Sounds good. But I feel like he is wasted too much talking about the new raised pens in the OF.
  8. I actually think Ross is really smart and competent. I know a lot of guys, especially who do a lot of fantasy, seem to love what appear to be his smaller incremental low cost moves. Personally I can't listen to him for a second. If he comes on TV or radio I literally cannot shut it off fast enough. He reminds me of Ned Flanders on the Simpson's or that Lego Movie I watched with my kids song,,,"Everything is Awesome", when he speaks. Whether he is talking about Derrick Fisher and 42 years of control or signing Springer everything is awesome. It's all pablum. I know that's GM speak but he is a special kind of annoying. I do agree the chortling at AA grinds my gears still. Especially when you compare the prospects they have sold, FA spending, signings and actual results. Oh well let's see what the rest of '22 and '23 bring. I'm in no rush to see him gone but im not looking for the "competitive team" award. We have been there before. Many times since '93.
  9. How are our Jays morphing into the Leafs before our very eyes? A team built for the next year in perpetuity.
  10. At the time that was a steep price and they didn't give Martin or SWR over $100M deal. Hard to swallow. He has exceeded my lowest expectations. Ironically the guy we needed smashes a HR off Berrios on a tough pitch.
  11. Yep. 21 was the lost season. Squandered. I suppose if this team goes on a heater it could look different in a month but I see no trajectory upward. Unfortunately I expect we will lose the top wildcard but make it in. Then bow out quickly as the holes drag us down. For the FO talk of "waves" coming in from the farm we also have a wave of dead money and arb years on its way in, and after 23 there is a wave going out of Chappy, LGJ, Teo. The deadline was milquetoast. Limper than Moreno's bat. We need to make some changes for '23, address the f***ing pen and make a real run at this. Expect the BoSox to be back on their feet next year. The AL is never easy.
  12. Coincidentally I was watching a documentary Pelotero this am from 2009 with my son about the 16 year old signings of Sanchez and Miguel Sano, whose nickname is "Big Mouth" in the DR. Sanchez got over $5M and was the huge deal at the time. He had a hot start in the bigs but has always been a defensive liability. Bocaton got $3.1M. Got signed as a SS. Got fat and now sucks pretty much.
  13. I've watched it like 20 times and he pretty clearly goes down to block the plate with his knee before he is in any tagging motion. I think it's the right call technically, but I'm shocked we got it. That was a shallow f***ing sac fly ball attempt. Whit, of the good body, be fast. And I drink the tears of the MINN fans. Amazing to get a split on the road against a good team when we really didn't play well.
  14. Ya. Just flying en route to Alaska fishing. Was following on gameday with my son. Saw 2-0. Then took off. Now reading this thread LOL. Heart attack salad. Romano is good. But he isn't that good. His stuff can be so far from elite. Oh well a W is a W! We"ll take it.
  15. I don't care if he can hit for s***. He has a "great body". Just ask the Tabster.
  16. I loathe it. I just don't believe their data and the correlation arguments. Kershaw back on IL etc. He was load managed up the ying Yang. Bring back Steve Carlton and 350 innings. Lol. I think Duane Ward threw like 160 in relief one season. Mind you his arm then fell off. Ok bad example.
  17. Its been a need for a very long time and many options have come and gone to fill that hole. In terms of where they play the Springer IL, which we all knew was coming, has made "where do they play?" a lot easier to answer. I think its risky to think Teo and LGJ will stay red hot given their propensity for big slumps. So we give up Castillo, who has solid depth potential at least according to Eno Sarris stuff analysis, plus Taylor to get yet another RH bat. I mean Merrifield is ok. Speed. Vetrin presents.
  18. Mayza, Springer and Strip to the IL. They knew about the last two. Deadline moves looking even more minimalistic juxtaposed against our competitions. Really need a Twins split today.
  19. Dislocated? Added 2 at deadline and just lost 1. This series is getting the stink of death to it.
  20. Fouls off 88 meatball and swings under 92. Not his best effort. Hold 'em here.
  21. Seems like his V is down a bit since the injury. That pitch was away. Just up a bit. Good hitting to drive it the other way. We have to do the same.
  22. My 14 year old son and I both burst out laughing simultaneously.
  23. I know my man. Knew you were joking.
  24. Tabby getting himself excited over Whitts great body.
