  1. I was given a different version of events than has been reported. There is a lot of grey around this, but money & term always talks. Thats how we got Martin and Springer lol. Rogers is very clever how they use their guys off the record "on background" to sprinkle out the message they want to send. That spreads like wildfire and becomes "fact". We moved early to place a good portion of the $50M AAV investment budget FO had, which has an impact on room to move. The one fact everyone agrees on is that Boras over promised and under delivered taking his guys to market. Anyway....we move on. All good. Chappy is not the messiah.
  2. Read and saw all that plus Blair etc. Lot more to the story. Roger’s has a very high spin rate.
  3. Normally a split on the road is a decent outcome. But I hope they can pull out the next 2 to give them some mojo.
  4. It’s KKs if he calls it.
  5. Please post a link from Chappy and or Boras saying he didn’t want to sign with the Jays.
  6. Listening to Ben Clemen Fangraphs nerd. 1. Kikuchi best chip. Hot commodity if performing at or near this level. 1 + years removed now from negative WAR season. 2. Jano to Cubs makes most sense. They need catching and deep prospect pool. 3. Yimi good chip but reliever rental so not a huge return. 4. They aren't trading Bo or Vlad this season.
  7. No doubt. Was looking at those numbers the other day on chase. His BB rate way up consequently. I remember you making the argument last year he needed to swing less to be better. If he keeps this up he is a 3.5 to 4.5 WAR player again.
  8. Would have liked him on 3/54 deal he signed for with Giants. $5M AAV a year more than Turner one year deal, and he can actually play 3B. Makes IKF more redundant. Projected higher offensively as well.
  9. Good stuff ^. His last since 3 HR's since the late one off Cano have been low or out of zone. Dangerous there if they make a mistake.
  10. Quite a few guys are done around 34/35. Mo Vaughn and Prince Fielder, for example, were done by 31/32. I think of them around a long term deal for Vlad. Jose Bautista fell off the cliff at 35/36. Peak production is usually 27-29 for bats. Couple of aging curve articles below: https://monster-baseball.com/2024/02/24/aging-curves-in-pro-baseball/#:~:text=Turning%20from%20the%20beginning%20of,aging%20down%20in%20more%20detail. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/checking-in-on-the-aging-curve/
  11. Saw him smoke a hit off Skenes fastball. Up to 1.4 WAR and wRC+ 117 $18M AAV starting to look better for SFG.
  12. Looking at Varsho heat map. He is one of those LHH good at golfing pitches low or even just below the zone into the seats. Its a wonder they keep pitching him down - maybe they are just mistakes he is punishing.
  13. BABIP giveth....and Bo taketh away.
  14. This takes me back to the weirdness of covid broadcasts - photos of people in seats in a quiet stadium. I think IKF hit that 470. Not too sure.
  15. Thanks...was flipping through the channels and MLB.com for this feed like a junkie who needs a hit. I couldn't figure out why it wasn't on anywhere for an OAK-COL game with 14 people in the stands.
  16. Good question! Not once Ross is fired lol
  17. Moreno is not a FA until 2029. It’s 2024. Wouldn’t panic just yet on his upside.
  18. Barker is no fan of Gibby for a few reasons. For one Gibby stuck him in the OF. He holds a grudge lol.
  19. Skenes is good. Multi player offer should get it done. Clemens, IKF and Mayza for Skenes. They eat that up.
  20. Keep the band together. Extend Atkins, Bo & Vlad low and keep the "era" alive. "5 more years! 5 more years!"
  21. I think first 81 gms is fine and if its clear we are for real, go Jays. That won't improve his past D & D record though. This deadline is absolutely critical as some of our assets only diminish on an aggressive curve past that (think when we got Berrios or when Soto was first dealt). He is not the right leader for that. I don't want to 2023 LAA deadline it. Its nothing personal - just business.
  22. LOL. Well he writes essays like me sometimes so its hard to tell. I usually agree with Max and you ultimately, even though I'm much more glass half empty. Just my nature.
  23. Replacing Atkins after 9 years to get new minds, that don't have a dog in previous fights, to make recommendations on major decisions affecting our team that are in our windshield, is not razing to the ground. For the first time, I thought he needed to go this past off season. The 48 games since and his presser last week only reinforce my view. And while they are at it, maybe new leadership can help improve on our last 9 years of drafting & development work. Its not a high bar.
  24. Skenes is pitching for PITT this morning 10:35 am MST. Slow day today and not on the road so look forward to watching him first time. So far I've just looked at clips.
  25. Looking at X & Board, its amazing to me how a HR jacket is such a topic. Its kind of like when Votto signed on. Huge splash of the day. Is Votto deceased from an ankle roll?
