  1. voting always before playoffs
  2. unless EE played too many games at 1B during the joeybats shoulder flip out time
  3. "good guy" Reyes maybe not the happy go lucky guy he appeared to be on camera....... shocker - sarcasm
  4. Rogers "deal" allows them to set an arbitrary salary budget for the team and prevents revenue sharing with other MLB teams (not sure how this works or how teams would allow this to happen but same thing is done with Yankees and Dodgers, who own their own sports networks - but blue jay viewer numbers blow the Yankees and dodgers out of the water)
  5. revenue bump in Canadian dollars is significant. The value of the TV rights is huge. The TV viewer numbers are the highest by far in MLB. The viewer numbers are higher than the best Nhl numbers Rogers paid $5billion dollars for. The fact that it is Canadian dollars does not change the fact that the Jays should be in the top 5 payroll in MLB and still earn a great return. from a business standpoint, Rogers has to figure this out. Corporate ownership should look to maximize return. The corporate owner will maximize revenue by putting the most competitive team on the field. This year, with a thin minor league talent pool, the team needs to jump into the Free agency pool to fill the pitching needs. YOu need an ace like price or greinkie. you also need someone to fill Estrada's role as 3rd/4th starter. you need to buy a few more power bullpen arms for depth, this will cost dollars. But from a cost/benefit view and a corporate return perspective - going in with a splash will earn them the most dollars. that is my point - Rogers had huge success (both wins and revenue) and have not learned it was because AA went all in.. Toronto loved this. Go get two or three great FA signings and watch the $$ flow in.
  6. the more I think about this the more outrage (or disbelief) I feel why in the f*** would Rogers not increase the budget after the revenue bump they realized with a competitive winning team. a $30million bump to $170mil payroll would have a huge impact on revenue. it would make the team the talk of the MLB and fans would continue increasing ratings and attendance. Why hold payroll?? greed plain and simple. Plus a bit of stupidity, if rogers doesn't think there will be a back lash from a less competitive team that is EDDY ROGERs STUPID
  7. Agree. We've been so conditioned to think payroll will be cut that when it's not we are thankful. TV viewer numbers mean the jays TV rights are the most valuable in mlb. Payroll should jump to keep this momentum going but idiots at Rogers are short term greedy and won't invest in team, Cuba, Japan etc
  8. if he doesn't play the FA market the team will not compete in 2016 either. the offence will be good, but there are some huge holes in the pitching staff that can not be filled internally
  9. I understand that this message board usually has a "they sky is falling mentality" but I'm too tired to look back to see how many of the people on here thinking that the Jays are done without AA were the same people wanting to kick him to the curb this year. Chill Shapiro will do his job. his methodology is more like the buy and hold guy who won't trade prospects. he's been accused of over valuing young talent, but he does have a young shortstop in Clev that may be one of the top 5 exciting players in MLB next year.
  10. noah was never the throw in it was noah and darnaud
  11. I worry that AA refused contract because Rogers said payroll parameters were going down instead of going up. AA countered by saying TV viewer numbers justify much higher payroll (s/b top5) this will cause a fan revolt. Rogers are just incompetent as shown by Eddy boy previous dealings unravelling last off season
  12. Well to all you AA and Gibbons haters looks like you will get your wish. Enjoy - can't wait to see the first "will the new GM be back" thread
  13. how many innings has Osuna thrown before last night?
  14. Probably pillar
  15. It's his act. The f***ing guy is a clown. He's getting so much press for being a s***** ball player y would he speak like a normal person
  16. my biggest fear is a home plate umpire who does a s***** job. Like game 2 for instance.......
  17. that's average!! over 9.4million watched at one point or another Come on Rogers, open up the chequebook and sign a couple starters for 2016
  18. yes kevin barker is worse than any mentioned his voice is so not media friendly but it matches the stupidity coming out of his mouth. I honestly don't think hes ever made a valid, interesting comment
  19. I voted for Davis as he's just a tool - in the Fergie Oliver type way but Zaun is trying too hard. Maybe he's sincere, but saying Harper was in the wrong because he's young - really? He's a four year veteran in the middle of the best season since Barry Bonds and he's supposed to run a lazy fly ball out cause he's young. f***ing moron. I do think some of the insights he has between innings especially pitch selections when guys can't catch up to a fastball etc. but his opinions are way the f*** out there I actually like Wilner - he's correct most of the time. people need to chill after a loss - plus its not always gibbons fault
  20. Eight games to go. Hope the jays take a deep breath and regroup to finish the season
  21. If they sign price attendance will be over 40k a game and TV ratings average over 1 million viewers. The business case is very strong to sign him
  22. except cola has wrc of 144 vs. smoak's 104. that is significant bautista also has 144 wrc this year
  23. sarcasm?? 1.1 WAR in 2008
  24. no but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.......
