  1. except that he has already regressed and that will continue as he ages....
  2. Profile: As Pillar’s center field defense moves from elite down towards average, it becomes increasingly difficult for the Blue Jays to justify giving the outfielder an everyday role. Pillar has some very major offensive warts. He’s never posted a wRC+ above 94 and his wRC+ of 89 in 2018 was a three-season high. Pillar’s infield fly ball rate of 17.7% was fifth highest among qualified hitters and his 3.3% walk rate was the third lowest. His career OBP is just .298. When it comes to fantasy baseball, however, he has contributed 31 home runs and 29 stolen bases over the past two seasons. Fantasy owners can count on him for mid-teens home run and stolen base totals with an average around .250. Keep an eye on his playing time situation, however. As the Blue Jays enter rebuilding mode,
  3. or shows something else..........
  4. you do realize that Olerud is making the stuff up right????
  5. he's not on the RHP list either
  6. what has this board turned into? i barely visit anymore because of s*** like this. i don't care anymore, but grow up
  7. remember the rule V draft is fairly inconsequential. Last year only 18 players were selected in the MLB portion - NO blue jays. in the minor league 43 players were selected. Only one Blue Jay Mitch Nay - who stayed at single A last season......
  8. if the Jays are that concerned about losing players to the rule V they could have just DFA Tulo, Martin and Morales. No one is going to pick up those guys on waivers and be responsible for the rest of their contracts. Put them on the AAA roster The downside to this is that when you activate the players and put them back on the 40 man, you expose the same young guys but now you do not have the rule V apply and the young guys can be picked up and stashed in another organization's minor league system Obviously out of the box, and I'm missing something - there must be reason its not done. But i think back to how EE was dfa'd and put in the minors. He passed through waivers and had time to regain his swing - don't think that would happen w Tulo - but maybe it would push him to retire?
  9. How did all this crap get posted in a July international signing thread?
  10. mike (ontario): Pardhino is 17 years old, will he likely progress at a one year per level pace? or would his advanced "feel" allow him to advance quicker?? Carlos Collazo: He is very young, but if he continues to have success I could see him finishing each year at the next level up. I pulled in Kyle Glaser on this one because he has a better context for this sort of thing, but he believes Pardinho is still at least three years away. There were only three 20-year-old pitchers in the majors this year and they all played for the fast-tracking Braves.
  11. i hope you are correct, but I didn't think that 2018 could be worse than 2017 and it was. plus starting pitching is very questionable, going into 2018 we were very positive on Sanchez and Stroman - now not so much.....
  12. The outlook for the 2019 Jay is dismal. If you look at the 2018 team our best player by bWar was Kevin Pillar - he was 2.5bWar which ranked 100th in MLB. Our best player was 100th, think about that if you go back over the history of the Jays that is the lowest EVER for the franchise. 2018 Pillar 2.5 2017 Stro 5.9 2016 JD 7.6 2015 JD 8.5 2014 JB 6.7 2013 Rasmus 4.9 2012 EE 5.0 2011 JB 8.3 2010 JB 7.0 Rasmus in 2013 was twice the player Pillar was last year, that is how bad the team was last year. The Jays do not have an all star on the current 25 man roster. The team defence was bottom three in the majors. Look at the advanced team stats available on Baseball Reference. It is consistent. trading morales or travis or solarte is not going to happen. no other team wants our garbage because we are so bad. I hope that Shatkins proves me wrong, but i think that the team has not yet bottomed out. The worst is yet to come
  13. and he is getting to the age where his defence will drop quickly (if it hasnt already)
  14. Have there been any rumors out there about BlueJays players who have passed through waivers in August? I assume the jays have tried to pass everyone through, did Donaldson or Estrada get through???
  15. Jim Callis‏Verified account @jimcallisMLB Following Following @jimcallisMLB  More Jim Callis Retweeted (((Ryan Wagman))) The @BlueJays have spent $8,309,300 in the first 10 rds vs a pool of $7,982,100. They are 4.1% over, which means they only pay a penalty tax. They have an extra $71,905 to play with for picks after the 10th rd (where the first $125k on each guy doesn't count vs pool). @MLBDraft Jim Callis
  16. i would guess that jays got the remainder of the required savings from the signing of Senior C Chris Bec. He is already playing in Vancouver. But that is just my opinion because i can't find any information online Conine deal is close to done but nothing finalized. Maybe he's going to Bluefield?
  17. so Jays have to save about $287,000 from the signings of Conine and round 5 guy. Shatkins has to have this prearranged Name Rd/Ovl Pos Class Ranking Status Slot Bonus vs. Slot Jordan Groshans 1/12 SS HS 37 (4/4) Signed $4,200,900 $3,400,000 -$800,900 Griffin Conine 2/52 RF JR 51 (4/4) $1,350,000 Adam Kloffenstein 3/88 RHP HS 43 (4/4) Signed $ 652,900 $2,450,000 +$1,797,100 Sean Wymer 4/116 RHP JR 88 (3/4) Signed $ 478,600 $478,600 $0 Chris Bec 5/146 C SR Signed $ 357,500 Addison Barger 6/176 SS HS 145 (3/4) Signed $ 271,100 $271,100 $0 Nick Podkul 7/206 3B JR 303 (1/4) Signed $ 211,900 $175,000 -$ 36,900 Joey Murray 8/236 RHP JR 321 (2/4) Signed $ 169,600 $169,600 $0 Jake Brodt 9/266 1B SR Signed $ 149,400 $5,000 -$ 144,400 Cal Stevenson 10/296 CF SR 454 (1/4) Signed $ 140,200 $5,000 -$ 135,200
  18. there was the newspaper article Monday night saying that Kloffenstein had agreed to a big overslot deal with the Jays $2.5million http://www.star-telegram.com/sports/college/big-12/texas-christian-university/article212580294.html Per The Star-Telegram… Top TCU recruit Adam Kloffenstein, a right-handed pitcher from Magnolia High School, was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays with the No. 88 overall pick in the third round of the major league draft Tuesday afternoon. Two sources confirmed the Blue Jays are offering Kloffenstein a first-round level signing bonus of about $2.5 million, and he will forgo his commitment to TCU. The slotted amount for the No. 88 spot is just over $650,000. The Blue Jays are offering almost $2 million more than that.
  19. wtf is this reposting...... site has gone to s***
  20. i believe UZR this year he is a negative.... i know small sample size but his D is declining and hes missed a few catchable ball this year already. Far from unbelievable
  21. um - no his defence is declining and over rated due to TV dives....... below average power
  22. may start in dunedin so they stay in Florida for warm weather, then move to AA when the weather gets better
  23. nope just a spring training insurance policy
  24. so was Edwin in 2010. i so hope Zeke is gone, but bringing him back like this looks like insurance. young guys stay healthy then Jays can release him before his salary becomes vested
