  1. He got groundball singled to death, and even one groundball double. He wasn't top notch in terms of swings and misses, but overall it was a good start where it matters. Some batted ball luck and his line would look a lot better.
  2. For a good defensive outfielder with speed, Upton sure doesn't seem to be giving 100% all the time. He just casually jogs over to the ball a lot.
  3. Thole cannot frame a pitch.
  4. Every groundball is going by, just awesome.
  5. It's pretty weak contact, soft line drives, weakly hit grounders finding holes.
  6. Could someone please swing at a fastball down the pipe with 2 strikes? Jesus Christ.
  7. f*** sakes Thole, that wasn't a hard block.
  8. What the f***? He put his entire elbow in the strike zone, how is that allowed?
  9. Gustavo Chacin wasn't half the pitcher Liriano is lol.
  10. 7 strikeouts and 4 walks through 5 innings. Vintage Liriano.
  11. Excellent pitch right there. Liriano has been pretty much as advertised.
  12. Well it's a good thing they recognized that Pat Dean is pitching.
  13. So those first two strikes were pretty bad. Seems like the ump has a shifted strike zone, it better be consistent at least.
  14. Yeah Smoak! For whatever reason he seems a lot better hitting from the right side this year.
  15. The Reds beat the Dodgers 9-2 and then 11-1 in consecutive days, s*** happens.
  16. This is confirmation bias at its finest. Stroman and Happ have continued to be awesome, Liriano has been inconsistent in limited time, Sanchez hasn't been quite as good but that's probably regression, and Dickey is Dickey.
  17. Meh, he just gave up two tough homers to two of the best players of all time, not much Estrada can do there but tip his cap.
  18. I absolutely love Joe Maddon's/the Cubs' strategy of making every player as versatile as possible. It tries to fix the issue of prospects being blocked at some position because an established MLB player is there instead. Of course, not everyone can do it, but to have a guy like Kris Bryant being able to play multiple defensive positions at a high level is just so incredibly useful that it warrants praise. Ben Zobrists all over the field!
  19. I don't believe there's anything wrong with him doing that as long as he doesn't do it after coming to a set position. The only question was whether the balk was called before or during the time out call, and clearly it was the latter. The home plate ump handled it fine, the only thing to get mad about would be the two outside pitches that were called strikes.
