    I think he's done. Injuries did a number on him, the stuff backed up, and the command went completely out the window. If even the Cleveland pitching factory is giving up on him there's little chance left for him save for toiling around the minors for a bit and rebuilding himself from scratch. Not even sure he gets claimed on waivers. The Stuff+ models grades his Location+ as 58 which is like, unfathomably bad. He must be hanging every pitch or missing badly nowhere near the zone.

    Handling the pressure is why Gausman is being paid the big bucks. He can and should be able to give us a good start here when we need it.

    Lucas has now given us the full Jekyll and Hyde performance with two excellent starts followed by two awful ones. His next one will be crucial for him to determine if he can stick. The one silver lining in this Saturday start is the strikeouts were still there. If he blows up again I could see Jake Bloss getting the call with Lucas being optioned.

    There's not much depth in the 40-man remaining due to the injuries. The last 40-man pitchers we have in AAA are Bloss, Macko (injured) and Josh Walker who doesn't provide much length. Schultz is likely sticking around until one of the injured RPs come back.

    This seemed inevitable. Little defensive utility, not fast, and it seemed like the same issues at the plate persisted. If he can't catch up to the fastball and he can't hit lefties there's no room for him on the roster.

    This is all valid and all, but with Kirk on base things get a bit more dicey. Will he even make it to third on the tag attempt? Will he score by staying put on second on a single into the outfield? Will he score on a wild pitch to the backstop if he had successfully tagged? With Kirk the best outcome is likely just the safe option in just about any scenario I think.

    Yeah just straight up a bad call. I don't think our own video people would have enough time to determine if it's worth burning a challenge here, and given that Jomboy probably spent a decent amount of time on it, seems unlikely it even gets overturned. I understand our own coaching staff being quick to blame Vlad given that the challenge room said it wasn't worth replaying, and his previous history on the basepaths. Just straight up umpire malpractice. Sucks for Vlad who made a rare smart baserunning decision.

    Little has been outstanding, a great find by the FO. My only fear with him is his stuff is so good that he can't really control it at times. There's been a few instances where the sink is too hard and drops below the zone, luckily the stuff is good enough to still induce swings on those pitches. But could be a case where he runs into trouble if players force him into the strikezone.

    Not to mention Kirk for making the most out of Bill Miller's strikezone. Sean Murphy, his Braves counterpart, was not getting the same calls.

    Chris Bassitt leads the league in pitching fWAR and trails Hunter Greene in bWAR by 0.1, essentially negligible.

    So according to Dan, that's a franchise record in combined Ks by the pitching staff over a 9 IP game with 19.

    That was basically identical to Kirk's swing but slightly better positioned.

    I've been told we should be extremely excited about our pitching staff dominating the best lineup in baseball.

    Roden's groundout came at 107 mph off the bat. His EVs are starting to creep up tremendously.

    Encouraging swings from Kirk today. Line drive @ 105 mph into left, hard hit flyball to RF (gone in Yankee Stadium).

    Despite the off day I wouldn't mind tacking on two more and letting Fluharty close it out. Don't have to use our top arms every time even if we have a break. Save those bullets for late in the season.

    Garcia just steamrolled past the Braves' 1-4.

    Vlad trying to prove he's just as good as Soto by shuffling on his takes now too lol.

    Straw with the immense swagger jogging home after stealing second to set himself up for an easy run. What a player.

    Kirk is putting on a clinic with Bill Miller behind the plate. Nothing near the corners is safe from being a called strike.

    Sandlin has been a godsend in the middle of the bullpen. Just a tough guy to square up, and he can get some crucial strikeouts if needed.

    Roden having great ABs. Crushed one that missed being a homer by a few feet, then draws the walk on a long AB laying off some tough lefty on lefty pitches.
