  1. To be honest, Yesavage and Stephens should be in A+ yesterday, they're way too advanced for Dunedin. At this rate it would be disappointing if all 3 weren't at least at AA by the end of the year.
  2. Evan Carter might have chronic back issues so I think that's less on the developmental/hitting approach side of things, although he probably was overhyped to begin with.
  3. Nice to see RJ Schreck start to pick it up with the bat. If he could end the year strong and finish at AAA he'd look to be on a Roden like trajectory path. Hopefully the elevated K rate to begin the year is just a blip and he brings those down as the year moves along.
  4. So he's like the opposite of Ernie Clement. Lots of Ks, walks and good raw power with iffy at best defense. Ernie hasn't bought himself much rope with his offensive ability, but is lucky in that he's one of the best 3B defenders in the league to make up for it. In Tirotta's case, the main questions aside from "can he make contact often enough" is going to be, can he hit lefties really well? And can he play a passable 3B/LF? We're desperately missing a good platoon bat against lefties with the aforementioned Clement struggling, and the other RHH on the bench being Myles Straw.
  5. I'm pretty sure Ureña is purely roster fodder. He'll maybe make one, tops two spot starts, eat a few bad innings, pitch in a blowout one time and then get DFA'd whenever we need a fresh arm or one of the injured guys come back.
  6. Yeah this might be at best a case where instead of returning to elite form, he might just not be god awful anymore? A ~90 wRC+ projection with elite defense everywhere in the field is still a valuable player although obviously not close to being worth his contract. As you note, his success to date is entirely BABIP and HR/FB noise. His statcast metrics are arguably all much worse across the board compared to last season. Javy is a guy who lives and dies with BABIP luck.
  7. I wouldn't be looking up recent news about Mariano Rivera if you'd like to keep that image of him intact.
  8. Chad Green went from throwing BP to Schneeman to unhittable the rest of the inning at the flip of a switch. More of that second part please Chad.
  9. I mean Straw drove it 390 feet to CF to move over the runner. Actually worked out well. And then he stays in the game defensively which makes it so nothing drops in the outfield.
  10. Gotta give Berrios his due as well. If it wasn’t for the f***ing Orioles he’d be having a great season. Rock solid starts against the Red Sox twice and the Yankees in New York once.
  11. It’s the forearms. Dude is built like a brickhouse, he must be insane in the gym.
  12. Thank god for Barger’s 80 arm there because he played that hop terribly.
  13. 50/50 call there, but wtf is Bo swinging at.
  14. That’s gone before the renos, tough luck for Kirk who is crushing the baseball right now.
  15. Statcast and xWOBA doesn't seem to think so. His savant page looks pretty good Still hits the ball hard often, his issue is just he's a free swinger who whiffs a lot which makes his profile more volatile and less impactful overall. Still a good player though, and because he debuted so late he's cheap.
  16. Kirk with some excellent swings this game, nice to see him drive the ball in the air.
  17. Vlad’s absurd dive just saved him another stupid out on the basepaths.
  18. Osuna probably. He was nails his first couple of seasons before he became a POS.
  19. Little is nasty. The knuckle curve is unhittable. He’s his worst enemy on the mound because the stuff is excellent.
