  1. I'm not sure Dickerson is a buy low, he's been injured but his hitting has been very good and he's pretty much proving that last year's defensive breakout was an outlier and he's back to being awful out there. Not the guy I'd be most comfortable investing money in, unless he's one of those practically free guys, which he very well might be.
  2. Someone get d'Arnaud some extra padding. Poor guy is getting killed back there.
  3. Bo Bichette is unreal.
  4. Buck is spewing so much garbage on this broadcast, it's so embarassing. Old man yells at clouds while Carlos Peña is being really personable and trying to counter those points.
  5. Awesome slide from Vladdy, which he's apparently pretty good at since that's the second swim move I've seen him successfully pull off.
  6. f***ing epic initial AB for Bo. That was insane.
  7. Tonight's game is on YouTube btw.
  8. Found North's alt account.
  9. None of our catchers in the lower minors - including Riley Adams - need to be added to the 40-man though, and I think it's safe to say that we'll have 3 catchers on it, even if Taylor isn't that guy.
  10. I think the 40-man crunch can be broken down into the following categories: Replaceable relievers Jason Adam Derek Law Justin Shafer Wilmer Font Ryan Tepera Buddy Boshers From this group I think Font and Tepera stay, and there's an outside chance Boshers stays. 6/7th starters or long men Sam Gaviglio Sean Reid-Foley Brock Stewart Thomas Pannone Gaviglio stays, SRF probably stays, Brock Stewart is definitely off and Pannone is gone as soon as anyone moderately better is signed. Third Catchers: Luke Maile Beau Taylor One will probably stay, or both will be replaced by an outside option. Depth outfielders Anthony Alford Billy McKinney Jonathan Davis I think Davis is DFA'd, probably replaced by Palacios. Alford and McKinney are on the brink, barring any other signings they'll stay. Alford probably gets traded for garbage to a bad team. Utility guys Brandon Drury Devon Travis Richard Ureña Ureña and Travis gone for sure, Drury non-tendered and brought back as a minor league deal. All are likely off the 40-man barring a (really) hot month from the latter. Elvis Luciano Elvis Luciano No idea what's done with him. ------------------------------------------------------ Definitely off: 9 Probably off: 1 or 2 Brink: 2 or 3
  11. Curry definitely has age + injuries to consider so I agree with you. However he's got as good a chance as anyone to be the top fantasy player for the next 1-2 seasons.
  12. Davis is too injury prone, definitely Giannis or Harden, and tack on Curry to that.
  13. Here's the notable rule 5 eligible guys that we'll have this offseason: Anthony Kay - acquired in Stroman deal Santiago Espinal - acquired in Steve Pearce deal last May Forrest Wall - acquired in Oh deal, 23 y/o, had good year at AA and promoted to AAA Josh Palacios - 24, had good year in AA in his age 23 season Thomas Hatch - acquired in David Phelps deal Curtis Taylor - acquired in Eric Sogard deal Jake Fishman - older (24) lefty reliever who did well in AA Dany Jimenez - way older (25.7) RHP reliever who posted great numbers in A+ and AA Bryan Baker - 24 RHP reliever, tall, good strikeout numbers but high walks between AA and AAA Kirby Snead - 24 y/o LOOGY (?), immaculate in AA, mediocre in AAA, high groundballs, good strikeouts
  14. Michael Lorenzen today: pitched the 7th and 8th innings (not particularly well), stayed in to hit and jacked a 2-run bomb, and then played the 9th inning as the team's CF. Now that's f***ing awesome. Apparently also the first player since Babe Ruth to get a win, homer, and play on the field. And I bet that fat ass Babe wasn't playing CF.
  15. WAR for relievers isn't the best, but bear with me for a second. Here's the top 10 relievers by fWAR just two seasons ago, and their current status: 1. Kenley Jansen Dodgers 2018: 0.3 WAR 2019: 0.9 WAR Once one of the premier relievers in the game, now seen as a liability on the best team in baseball 2. Craig Kimbrel Red Sox 2018: massive drop off to 1.3 WAR, awful in the playoffs 2019: unsigned for the entire offseason and midway through the year, -0.6 WAR 3. Roberto Osuna Blue Jays 2018: DV scandal, 1.1 WAR 2019: 1.0 WAR, has gotten worse across the board 4. Corey Knebel Brewers 2018: ERA ballooned but still good otherwise, stupidly demoted, 1.0 WAR 2019: TJS 5. Pat Neshek Phillies/Rockies 2018/2019: has pitched a combined 42 innings, 0 WAR 6. Chad Green Yankees 2018: 1.7 WAR, slightly less effective but still excellent 2019: 0.9 WAR, demoted once, turned into opener, HRs skyrocketed 7. Andrew Miller Indians 2018: injured, 0.4 WAR 2019: -0.6 WAR, his constant usage in the regular season + postseason caught up to him 8. Felipe Vazquez Pirates 2018: 2.1 WAR 2019: 1.8 WAR (still a month left to go remember), is still one of the top relievers in the game 9. Mike Minor Royals 2018: 2.5 WAR as a solid starter 2019: 4.3 WAR (!!!) in a career rejuvenation breakout 10. Anthony Swarzak White Sox/Brewers 2018/2019: -1.1 WAR You can go and take a look at this year's top 10 for comparison. Moral of the story: relievers are extremely volatile so don't invest heavily on them.
  16. The K rate isn't even the most alarming issue, he can strike out 30% of the time for all I care, he's just not producing anything the rest of the time either. A 95 wRC+ in his second full season in AAA is awful, and he's now 25 years old, the walk rate wasn't anything special at all, plus the power (.159 ISO) was brutal considering they are now using the juiced ball. People here love to rag on Fisher and McKinney but those guys have at least consistently hit well in all levels of the minors including AAA, and they were younger than Alford when doing so. Alford's gonna need to s*** house his way to an 80-85 wRC+ at the major league level if he wants any sort of opportunity going forward.
  17. Lol Alford.
  18. Raise your hand if you thought TJ Zeuch would have a strikeout an inning through 4 against this Braves offense.
  19. I kinda figured he would go to the slider again on 3-2, I think it would've been an excellent pitch if he threw it on the outside corner/slightly off the plate but he hung it.
  20. Zeuch has 5 swinging strikes on the slider on 26 thrown. He has no other swinging strikes. Incredible stuff.
  21. It's weird, he's thrown all sliders and changeups as his secondaries. Ironically it's gotten him a couple of strikeouts already.
  22. A couple of nice sliders there to Joyce low and inside. The first one was a good take and the second got him.
  23. The NL fans f***ing love the DH, it's idiotic.
  24. Zeuch got squeezed! Should have had a walk.
  25. If they're shifting it's because the numbers say that's where they hit the ball to most of the time lol. Vlad hits the ball the opposite way sometimes too but that doesn't stop him from grounding out to the left side substantially more.
