  1. That’s an incredible pick.
  2. Pop’s arm is gonna fall off with this usage.
  3. Like nobody should effortlessly hit that breaking ball at eye level as a rocket up the middle.
  4. Jansen has been swinging an absolute pool noodle early in the season. Little concerning, given that he’s previously also lost all ability to hit before.
  5. I really don’t think Kikuchi has been that bad up to this point. The sun aided ball also cost him 10+ pitches, one of which was the awful one to Renfroe that I think by far was his worst today. He’s only given up three hit balls over 100+ mph, one of which was Othani turning on an inside breaking ball to drive it opposite field 400 feet.
  6. I don’t know, maybe giving benefit of the doubt to one of the best outfielder defenders in the game over the guy sitting on his couch criticizing his technique, as if you know any better.
  7. Kikuchi has 10 swings and misses on 72 pitches and only one walk. His only real mistake to me was the Renfroe pitch, Ohtani just did unicorn things to him. I’m honestly more impressed and encouraged with this start than the Kansas City one by a mile, brutal scoreline aside. He still just misses wildly every now and then with his fastball, but the slider has been sharp, low and inside to righties has been killer this game.
  8. Maybe someone should’ve told Varsho to use his glove so he could block both his view of the sun and the ball at the same time.
  9. High 70s? He’s a sinker baller lol, middling spin rate on the fast ball is not unexpected. Sandy Alcantara had 51st percentile fastball spin last season, he did okay with that.
  10. Man sometimes there just isn’t anything you can do. That ball wasn’t some line drive right at him, it was a moonshot that took forever to come down. He obviously tried his best to play it well but the sun just wins every now and then. Happens to good and bad outfielders every year throughout the season.
  11. You could see the pitch had a bit of tail to it. It was just an awfully located changeup. Kikuchi has fully moved away from his cutter.
  12. The homerun was on a changeup. Kikuchi has not thrown a cutter all year.
  13. ITT: people who have never seen a player lose a ball in the sun before.
  14. Pop just made Ohtani look silly. Good pitching.
  15. Berrios actually looks good this game. 3 runs charged to him is not at all indicative of how much better his stuff and location have been.
  16. I think you misread what I said. The umpire had a 93% called strike accuracy, and it says in that circle the average called strike accuracy for the league is 88%, which seems lower than I would have expected.
  17. Wtf the average correct called strike rate is 88%?
  18. Lol I couldn’t disagree more. His stuff is nasty, the splitter has gotten some ugly swings already, fastball is properly located with decent velo (averaging 94.5 mph, higher than last year even), and the third pitch in the slider is not at all a show me pitch. His swinging strike rate is actually higher than last year’s so far. Swanson totally looks like the real deal and a welcome addition to the high leverage innings.
  19. He was traded for, DFA’d in the offseason and then claimed on waivers by the A’s, who non-tendered him before he signed back with us, technically as a free agent.
  20. Jansen has looked pretty lost at the plate. It's early and he's getting sporadic starts so nothing alarming, would be nice to see some power swings the next few starts of his.
  21. I assume Bass didn’t cover in time so Bo didn’t risk an error.
  22. The team had a .369 xBA this game, they completely s*** on the ball. Great game, offense starting to come alive and pitching finally giving us a chance.
  23. 404 feet with an xBA of .890, awful luck for Chapman, he drilled that. Homerun or XBH in most parks.
  24. The Phillies bullpen is god awful.
  25. I'm surprised he was assigned to AAA and not flipped with Lukes on the MLB roster. Maybe they want to see if he still has a pulse before putting him into a spot where he'd be expected to contribute. Good depth for sure.
