  1. High risk/high reward signing for both parties, which probably means it's a fair deal for both sides.
  2. This is a favourable matchup for us if anything. Bassitt is better than Urquidy, his first few starts of 2023 notwithstanding.
  3. As he should. He’s been mostly fine since the ghastly first, might as well tough it out for 5-6 innings and save some arms for the rest of the series.
  4. Belt has some really good ABs, if his batspeed/timing catches up to his approach he’ll yet be a valuable contributor for us this season.
  5. At his age there's the likely chance his body is just done and he can't even handle the load of a full season, let alone also being able to perform at anywhere near Joey Votto like levels. His 2022 season had some very glaring red flags that might signal he's done.
  6. Votto is 4 years older than Belt (will be 40 next season), with a worse injury history, and understandably projects worse. Love Votto, he should cruise into the HOF (hopefully if the voters aren't idiots), but I'd really rather not have him be a Blue Jay when he's one foot into retirement.
  7. Great baserunning again by Varsho, those 90 feet are big.
  8. Buck talking about the Jays running the contact play, the bases are loaded…if Chapman doesn’t run home on contact they force him out lol.
  9. Bo taking over from Biggio as the former MLB’ers son getting killed by brutal calls.
  10. Nicely done Mayza, he’s getting back into the circle of trust with his last few outings.
  11. Lightning cat Kirk with the quick reflexes and athleticism.
  12. Zero chance you don’t own this guy in fantasy if you’re bringing up his W-L record.
  13. Can’t blame Espinal too much there. He made a reactionary play, and obviously you’re not just gonna let the guy go home there. Smart read from Rogers the catcher at third to go back to the bag.
  14. Two garbage hit balls and everyone is safe, that’s frustrating.
  15. Need a DP so we don’t get Babe Maton up with men on base.
  16. Spencer Torkelson f***ing sucks. Great pitch though.
  17. Bassitt’s curve is a surprisingly legit pitch at only 70, helps that he has a faster variant at 73-75 with more lateral movement.
  18. He’s also averaging two more inches of drop (vertical movement) on his sinker compared to last year, 3 more compared to 2021. The slider has similar drop (+1 inch vs 2022 but it already broke a lot so the difference is more negligible), but the big difference is it’s breaking 3 inches less horizontally, down from 8 last season. So the slider shape has in fact changed, he’s emphasizing the vertical drop over less horizontal movement while the sinker is also dropping more but with similar side-to-side.
  19. He’s also getting more whiffs on his sinker, which is probably making the slider play up even more. That, or him throwing his slider more frequently, which is an excellent pitch, is making his power sinker even more effective. The sinker has been incredibly valuable for him this season, already as much as of all last season.
  20. Kiermaier’s been no stranger to the IL the last few seasons. Let him get a breather here and there so he can continue his magic in the field for longer stretches and when it matters the most.
  21. Orioles games are basically an average Coors experience. Their pitching is as bad as their hitting is good. There’s been multiple bombs over the Candem wall in this game alone.
