  1. Ump missed the K pitch and Kikuchi got rattled. Settle down here.
  2. Oh yeah the location was awful, he definitely needs to keep that beneath the zone.
  3. The slider, that’s like his only other pitch lol. He’s mixed in a few changes today though. No cutters.
  4. Who said Berrios isn’t? Aren’t there stories that he was in fact working with the team throughout the offseason? Sucking doesn’t mean not caring or not trying.
  5. Springer just hasn’t been barreling the ball at all early in the season. So many bloops and choppers.
  6. Man it’s just not that serious. If Berrios wants to represent his country in the WBC it’s not like he’s taking time off to sit on his couch. None of us know how hard Berrios has or hasn’t trained to overcome his struggles. Sometimes guys just suck and it has nothing to do with how hard they’re trying. Also are we really giving a pass to Kikuchi? He could still be brutal no matter how much he “cares” or how much time he put in over the offseason.
  7. Awful pitch on 3-2, which is a shame because he threw 4 good breaking balls to begin the AB.
  8. Kirk is 24 with 4 years of control. This just isn’t a thing that anyone needs to worry about for a while.
  9. Speculation on my part, but I bet they wanted to have both Kiermaier and Varsho starting today given the size of Kansas City’s outfield, so not even sure if Otto would’ve gotten the start for this one.
  10. I mean arguably this is what allows him to have a good inning or two after every other blow up. Being emotionless is usually regarded as a positive trait for a pitcher since there’s a lot in the field that they have no control over after the pitch is released. He might just be as bewildered as everyone is that he’s blowing chunks given his track record and that the stuff is still good.
  11. The most frustrating part of the outing is that aside from blowing up, it came in spurts every other inning. First inning hot garbage, second inning unhittable, third inning shaky but decent, fourth inning blows up again, 5th inning unhittable. The command just blows up every other inning out of nowhere and he becomes batting practice, but the stuff never suffers.
  12. Yup, 5 runs and the ABs have been pretty competitive from about the 3-4th inning onwards, but Berrios blew up to such an extent that they never had a chance to even get back into it.
  13. Nice Bo, he’s had a great game. Two crushed balls and another decent AB.
  14. His career 100 wRC+ has come in his ages 23-25 seasons. 111 against RHP btw. Ever heard of projecting a young hitter with good pedigree to get better? Or do you only save that for players drafted by the Blue Jays?
  15. So you don’t think that a young hitter who showed good power last year, did very well in the minors, and has been steadily improving each season, isn’t capable of improving further to expect him to be a good enough presence at the top of the lineup, particularly against RHP against whom he’s already showed early success against?
  16. I have actually. Unlike you I actually try to make informed takes as opposed to knee jerk reactions based on small sample size eye test scouting.
  17. Teo isn’t exactly lighting it up for Seattle at the moment lol. At least when Varsho is struggling at the plate he provides top tier defense.
  18. Good stuff from Pop, mammoth homer aside. With that said he simply has to be sent down for a reliever from AAA, we need fresh arms and he’s already put up far too many innings this early into the season.
  19. Varsho projects pretty well as a hitter, moreso against RHP than lefties. I don’t think he should bat cleanup against southpaws, but it’s really not an indefensible decision to have him cleanup against right handers.
  20. Enlighten me on which numbers you’re using to make this claim.
  21. Clearly, based on the 4 games you’ve seen him play in your life.
  22. The team has a .327 xBA, classic Royals ******** that nothing falls when we need it to.
  23. Shocked the ump didn’t make the “show me up” call there.
