  1. If the hitting with RISP isn't gonna work we're simply going to have to start chaining solo shots. I see no other alternative.
  2. Manoah's command thus far is far more reminiscent of his last two seasons.
  3. Cole is really f***ing good. It’s not just the heaters, the breaking pitches are nasty too. Luckily for us he just hasn’t had command of them thus far.
  4. On the other side of the coin, his walk rate is down and the exit velo numbers are pretty underwhelming. Has Bellinger focused on being more of a slap hitter? Maybe he’s cheating a little more on pitches knowing he doesn’t have the batspeed he used to have or the power he used to have.
  5. Can’t believe I forgot Clemens, sneaky with those innings qualifiers.
  6. Without looking it up, David Wells and Burnett are two of those pitchers?
  7. Frasso's worst case scenario absolutely isn't any of those things. That's maybe his 50th percentile outcome at best. His worst case scenario is he gets injured again and he turns into a pumpkin or he gets exposed at the upper levels when he's no longer more polished than his competition (struggling career minor leaguers and young prospects). Mitch White did exactly what Frasso is doing now, and actually has had a modicum of MLB success as a swingman. Fangraphs gave Frasso a 40+ FV at the beginning of the year. That's usually a pretty good reliever, but not elite high-leverage arm, or a backend starter. Mitch White is basically a backend starter/swingman type right now.
  8. Yup, basically exactly what happened to Mitch White.
  9. Frasso's delivery is very reminiscent of Adam Ottavino to me. Can't think of many other RHP with such pronounced cross body deliveries that are part of a rotation. He probably still projects as a good reliever, which is basically what we knew at the time of trading him. 24 in AA with good stuff, a funky delivery, weird arm action and previous injury history seems like it's just about inevitable that he ends up in the bullpen.
  10. 8 swings and misses already by Berrios. 19!! by Luis Garcia, he’s completely dominating this lineup.
  11. Got to give the opposing pitcher some credit. Luis Garcia has been continually painting the outside corner with breaking balls and fastballs alike. So anything remotely off the plate looks like another dotted fastball that keeps moving away. There’s been a couple of ugly swings e.g. Bo and Kirk once or twice, but the pitcher has been dominant.
  12. Total ********, if the ump calls him safe there Houston doesn’t even challenge.
  13. How on earth did the umpire call Merrifield out there?
  14. Berrios has looked good again, had a weird rough spot at the bottom of the lineup but aside from that the stuff and location have been working well at the same time. Lots of 4-seamers which has been an interesting development.
  15. Garcia’s location has been impeccable. The lone poor pitch was that high breaking ball to Chapman, but it ended up being so far from the rest of his spots that it almost ended up working out as changing locations on purpose.
  16. Garcia is dotting the outside corner right now. Impeccable pitching.
  17. Ugh Kirk butchered that, should’ve been strike 3. Doesn’t matter as Berrios makes another good pitch to retire Alvarez.
  18. Yes you’re right. So not quite as alarming, although still troubling that he’s not managing to put good wood on the ball.
  19. With him it’s all about the batted ball data. He’s not hitting the ball hard at all, hard hit rate of only 11% and his IFBB rate is 33.3%. He’s literally popped it up for a third of his batted balls. Gross.
  20. Being a pitcher strikes again, ugh.
  21. Manoah has already had a season better than any of Stroman's with the Jays, and it was in his first full season in the MLB. Obviously nobody can really complain if he posts consistent 3 WAR seasons like Stro did, but at this point in time his ceiling should be considered higher than that. I think people are taking the "Manoah will probably regress" and seeing his early 2023 results and thinking he's some mediocre pitcher. Manoah has been exceptional early in his career, not just by ERA. He still has room for growth, unless something terrible has happened, he should go back to 2021/22 levels with a chance to improve on that.
  22. Romano lives and dies by his slider. Even when they don’t whiff at it he induces a ton of weak contact with it.
  23. Sac bunt or sac fly and no walks or HBP.
  24. Holy s*** Kirk has a .380 OBP and he hasn’t even caught fire yet. What a hitter.
  25. Amir Garrett sucks and Chapman has baggage. Granted, current Chapman would make this bullpen insane.
