  1. Well that was an awful throw when you had all the time in the world.
  2. Good 0-2 pitch, better hitting though. Ideally should’ve been lower but it was definitely a competitive pitch on the outside.
  3. Yeah this is the Berrios they gave $140MM to.
  4. Disgusting. That pitch starts at the middle looking like a meatball and then moves enough to saw you off. Unhittable stuff.
  5. Also in the market for high end starters. Assets available: Kyle Manzardo Tink Hence Shea Langeliers Oscar Colas Ezequiel Duran Drey Jameson DL Hall 2024 1st round pick
  6. Damn, that’s basically about as good as you can get for an “average” ump performance. Every single missed call was a 50/50 except for a couple of seemingly inconsequential high strike calls.
  7. Kirk has a .409 OBP and you could argue he hasn't even found his stride at the plate yet. He's a very gifted hitter. Once the power regresses to his career numbers he's going to be a force with how good his plate discipline has been this year.
  8. This isn't peak defensive Kiermaier. I don't think it's that outlandish of a claim to say that current Kiermaier is about as good as peak Pillar, who was a great defender.
  9. The outfield defense is phenomenal, those guys cover so much ground.
  10. Meh, I don't really think Yimi Garcia has been a problem or necessarily the reason why they lost today. First of all, no reason Manoah couldn't have been left to face 7-8-9. With Yimi, he gave up a 99 mph EV with an xBA of .310, unfortunately it was in Yankee f***ing Stadium and it of course cleared the stupid short porch. Garcia had a 3.37 xERA coming into this game, so it's not like he's being rocked, and he had been getting swings and misses. Not sure why we felt the need to put him into a tie game on back-to-back appearances when the guy you chose as the Opening Day starter was cruising through the Yankees lineup and facing the bottom part with a good pitch count. Yimi Garcia should be fine, he won't give up a homerun on one out of every three flyballs he induces all year. But the bullpen needs to stop being taxed like this when the starters are finally performing and not showing any signs of faltering.
  11. Half of Manoah’s swings and misses in this game have come from Judge lol.
  12. Manoah’s looked a lot more like his 2022 self in this one.
  13. If the hitting with RISP isn't gonna work we're simply going to have to start chaining solo shots. I see no other alternative.
  14. Manoah's command thus far is far more reminiscent of his last two seasons.
  15. Cole is really f***ing good. It’s not just the heaters, the breaking pitches are nasty too. Luckily for us he just hasn’t had command of them thus far.
  16. On the other side of the coin, his walk rate is down and the exit velo numbers are pretty underwhelming. Has Bellinger focused on being more of a slap hitter? Maybe he’s cheating a little more on pitches knowing he doesn’t have the batspeed he used to have or the power he used to have.
  17. Can’t believe I forgot Clemens, sneaky with those innings qualifiers.
  18. Without looking it up, David Wells and Burnett are two of those pitchers?
  19. Frasso's worst case scenario absolutely isn't any of those things. That's maybe his 50th percentile outcome at best. His worst case scenario is he gets injured again and he turns into a pumpkin or he gets exposed at the upper levels when he's no longer more polished than his competition (struggling career minor leaguers and young prospects). Mitch White did exactly what Frasso is doing now, and actually has had a modicum of MLB success as a swingman. Fangraphs gave Frasso a 40+ FV at the beginning of the year. That's usually a pretty good reliever, but not elite high-leverage arm, or a backend starter. Mitch White is basically a backend starter/swingman type right now.
  20. Yup, basically exactly what happened to Mitch White.
  21. Frasso's delivery is very reminiscent of Adam Ottavino to me. Can't think of many other RHP with such pronounced cross body deliveries that are part of a rotation. He probably still projects as a good reliever, which is basically what we knew at the time of trading him. 24 in AA with good stuff, a funky delivery, weird arm action and previous injury history seems like it's just about inevitable that he ends up in the bullpen.
  22. 8 swings and misses already by Berrios. 19!! by Luis Garcia, he’s completely dominating this lineup.
