  1. If you had your choice - which of the two would you go for? All things being equal, I'd rather get a bat like Tellez, and it's not really an organizational strength.
  2. I've been following Burns in A+ as well. No mentions of his speed in that assessment either. 20/28 in SB this year along with 47 RBI in 60 odd games.
  3. Oh okay, so it's only if you go much under-slot when the player is signed that it would be used on other picks? I think before the money allocation wasn't lost and could be fully reallocated. Thanks!
  4. Something I'm wondering...maybe this doesn't make sense - and it might now as I only have a peripheral vision on the slotting and how this works. I understand that next year is expected to be a significantly better crop than this year. Might the low-ball Bickford below slot and if signs, great, and if not, then they get the additional pick next year, as well being able to allocate the funds they would have spent on him to Tellez and/or the other guys that fell in the draft?
  5. I dunno, to me I'm just glad that he's even open to considering to sign. Granted though, the amount that he is "thinking of" just might not be feasible. Who knows, I think if any one can find the wiggle room, AA can.
  6. I suppose - especially at those levels where typically a starter might go on 5 or 6 and it is based on 6 starts. I guess it's just that especially with the question on his arm, I just don't see the point in rushing it. Yep, the K/9 & BB/9 is pretty impressive for someone so young at that level.
  7. He's progressing so well through the system and doesn't seem to be bothered much by advancing a level. Even up to mid A this year, his K/9 is about the same as last year, which is great considering, but yeah his walks, his BB/9 is about half of last year's rate. SSS but it's a heck of a good start to the MWL. I'd just hate to rush him though.
  8. Okay, thanks - I think - that's what I kind of figured because I didn't understand. If Hollon signed for slot - which he apparently did, I didn't see how he it would help out with Bickford. I see what you're saying now though, in that IF Hollon had agreed to underslot, it could have gone towards Bickford. Thanks.
  9. No reason to rush it IMO, especially since there are arm issues. It could do more harm than good - physically and from a development standpoint - to have a young pitcher like that jump from Lansing to NH in the space during the same season.
  10. I think that you raise a really good point. Even though he's dominating the league now, it's a great opportunity to refine the other pitches that maybe aren't quite there yet. I had originally thought that maybe in August he could be promoted to FSL but maybe you're right, maybe leave him where he is now for the year and start him in the FSL next year with a possible promotion to NH later in the year.
  11. I can't say about the surgery, but just based on the results from yesterday's game, I'd think that it's a really encouraging sign. I'd probably want to wait a few days - or perhaps a few starts - to see if his health regresses though. It'll be interesting to see how he's feeling in the next couple of days after the start. Definitely part of the 'next wave' of high end pitching prospects IMO.
  12. I kind of think that's not the way you wanted to word that. If he's detrimental to the team's failure, then that means he's hurting their failure, which means that he makes the team better. Probably just dropping off the word "failure" would have worked
  13. Unless it's a digital clock, then it's always wrong
  14. I'm not saying I like the thought - I'm concerned with some big bats that could have been passed over but meh, they Jays weren't the only team, whether that makes it easier or not.
  15. You're right, there are a lot of teams that went heavily on SP. I took a look and 11 teams other than the Jays took at least 7 pitchers out of their 10 picks. There were none other with 9 (I don't think) but pretty sure that there 3-4 more that drafted 8 pitchers.
  16. That may be but regardless we kind of need position players too - and not just scrubs.
