  1. Pass on Robertson, probably pass on Gregerson, unless it's a pretty reasonable contract...
  2. From Wikipedia... "...he was traded on December 6, 2010." and "On December 22, 2009, Anthopoulos traded reliever Brandon League..." Assuming Wikipedia is correct (which it ALWAYS is, no joke!), then that was during AA's tenure.
  3. Three team deal, Jays ship out Reyes and Buherle, get Trout and Kershaw. Angels and Dodgers eat all salary... Also, we get a capable SS in the deal somehow. MAGIC!
  4. Frankly, so far we've gotten more upgrades at a lower cost than I expected this off season, so I'm not all that worried if our payroll doesn't go up, because the quality of the team definitely has. Hell, if we could make some even crazier trades that added 10 WAR and lowered the payroll by another $20M (I have no examples of such trades, this is just fireballing here...) I'd be way happier than I would be adding 10 WAR and raising the payroll to $160M...
  5. This is too far in the other direction, IMO. Edwin CAN play 1B (and theoretically 3B and LF, though I would hate to see that in more than an emergency situation) and the DH spot is a great place to give regulars a "half day". I'd probably be okay with Edwin DHing say... ~90-100 games (possibly even a bit less) and the other ~50-~60 rotated between (mostly) Reyes and Bautista. Martin could definitely DH on some days w/ Thole (or hopefully someone better) catching, and Donaldson could probably use a half day now and then as well...
  6. Mostly agree with the premise of the original post, but as was pointed out interleague is (sadly) still a thing, and I really do see Edwin DHing in more than 74 games.
  7. Yes, but these are "jokes". (I say "these" since the same joke was made twice in this thread. f***ing people and their lack of reading. Yeah, I'm looking at you, King!)
  8. Meh, if Ryan Goins hits a walk off home run to win the World Series for us this year, he'll be in the same echelon. Carter may have been overrated (but, dem ribeyez were advanced metrics back then...), but he certainly contributed what is easily the most memorable moment in franchise history.
  9. That chain would look super douchey on most people, but Stroman manages to make it look endearing. f***ing #StroChez
  10. Based on free content for their TV stations alone, they're making money. Gate receipts have so little bearing on a team owned by a media empire. Also, the giant billboard in downtown Toronto has some value too.
  11. Personally, I like the deal even with cash involved. Saunders has some upside, is far better defensively and there is a chance that he could put up better numbers (with the exception of average, I'd suspect) than Melky starting next season. Melky is sort of a 1 tool guy, he hits for average, plus he's not a guy I envision aging particularly well. Saunders will undoubtedly fare much better playing 50% of his games @ the Dome than he did in Safeco as well. In what way have you heard he's like Rasmus?
  12. "Alex Anthopolous completes a 30 team deal in which he acquired the rights to the 2015 and 2016 world series titles in exchange for 4 15th round draft picks from 2094-2098. Since standard draft picks aren't tradeable, he was forced to bend Bud Selig over a table and mercilessly spank him until he agreed to change the rules. Bud Selig was the one who suggested this..."
  13. Pfft, you don't have to force Buck to get drunk. He's earned that s***.
  14. Retractable fences. Go with the theme of the building. 10' closer when then Jays bat, 10' farther when the other team is up. Hey, ballparks get to be "unique", and they allowed that abortion that is NewYankeeStadium to be built in blatant violation of the rules, so why shouldn't we have a 'unique' ballpark?
  15. Travis was #1 in the Tigers' system, became #9 in ours (according to MLB.com, he's not on the list that came out this morning..)
  16. Yep, he pretty much jumped off the page and beat me with a stick. Wasn't expecting him in the top 10...
  17. I miss free agent compensation (without the qualifying offer...)
  18. J.A. Happ, in a league (and category) of his own!
  19. Voted "Don't Know", because that's always the funniest option.
  20. Stroshow is hot for Saunders. Giggiddy.
  21. ? /threecharacters
  22. Huge, unwashed taint wins for best insult of the day thus far.
  23. Or as he was known in a confusing tweet from a few weeks ago "Anthony Gose: Fancy Name Edition"
  24. That's a slick lineup, but no way Gibbons has the stones to bat Reyes 5th...
