  1. Goins hasn't approached a .390 SLG above AA... I'm not really the one to calculate WAR here, but at least put reasonable numbers out there, even if you generously gave him a .320 OBP that would be a bit more realistic than a .390 SLG.
  2. That woman on the right looks like a cardboard cut-out from the waist up.
  3. We just grabbed Ezequiel Carrera on a minor league deal. If we just want a speedy 4th outfielder (apparently Pompey doesn't count, whatever...) we've already got one.
  4. I think Morrow is unlikely, he's going to take a role where he can try to rebuild his value as a stater... I don't have enough information on Anderson to make a credible comment, and I think there's like... 15% chance the Jays make a competitive offer for Shields.
  5. One of any number of incredibly poisonous and deadly Australian critters could have gotten him...
  6. Because you might like to earn a living wage one day?
  7. That's not an uncommon opinion around here... Probably a 60/40 starter/reliever split in opinions on this board.
  8. A negative plus a negative is a positive right? I'm sure I heard something like that in math class...
  9. And if my penis cured cancer, I'd be f***ing a lot of bald chicks! (this joke brought to you by: poor taste!)
  10. Hilarious in the saddest of ways...
  11. I also tell her to delete her account and start over...
  12. Honestly, I'm at the point in my life where how hot a girl is matters a lot less to me than how well she can hold a conversation and how much she makes me laugh. Obviously, I still have some physical attractiveness standards (anyone who says they don't is full of s***), but hot and dumb is no longer sufficient for me.
  13. "Toritani, a 5-foot-10, 176-pound left-handed hitter with a .285 career batting average and some power, has spent his 11-year career with the Hanshin Tigers. He has played in 1,444 consecutive games over the last 10 seasons." That's pretty cool...
  14. My own personal feeling says I'd rather sign Toritani than Lowrie, as there's a lot less risk there. Frankly, I like the projections I've seen on Travis, and I don't want a $10M guy in his way if he plays out of his mind in AAA... Also, Gruber, you're the first person I've seen suggest that he couldn't play SS or 3B, so where are you getting that information?
  15. Pretty surprised Infante wasn't taken... He's the type of guy I figured would have Rule 5 written all over him...
  16. 10:03am: Gabe Speier is the other arm in the deal, Speier (no relation) reports on Twitter. 9:21am: The deal is done, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports tweets. Righty Alex Wilson and a lower-level arm are heading to Detroit, WEEI.com’s Alex Speier tweets.
  17. Wouldn't those guys be from the MLB phase of the rule 5? I'm not 100% versed on the subject, but the article you're pulling those from suggests it's not the minor league phase...
  18. This, while technically a "stat", has zero predictive or analytic value. In hindsight, you could look at that and say "that pen was effective at holding wins during this sample size", but it doesn't tell you why, or give you any valuable information going forward. To use an easy example, let us say a team had 78 games in which they were leading 20-0 before the 7th inning, and in 77 of those games, the bullpen allowed 19 runs to score, but in one of those games, the bullpen allowed 21 runs to score. By your stat above, that's a great bullpen, but by any realistic measure, that's a pretty f***ing terrible bullpen.
  19. Just figure this should go here Edit: Can someone tell me what i did wrong? Edit the thing and just put [tweet]542853630819176448[ /tweet] without the space before the /
  20. Bring on the new Japanese guy, at least that's what I'm getting from that quote... Of course Boras saying "yeah, the Jays totally have interest in my client of whom you've never heard..." wouldn't exactly be an unthinkable tactic to get people interested in a client of whom they've never heard...
  21. They will have to pay literally twice what other teams would to get him... (well, okay, not exactly, since other teams would be over the limit and whatnot if they added a $10M+ guy, but still...)
  22. Property of their teams.
  23. And Angels, apparently... Unless they sign for $300K or less (unlikely...)
