  1. Reyes Cabrera Bautista Utley Encarnacion Lind Lawrie Rasmus Navarro This is a ridiculously tough lineup to get through.
  2. Beltre would be great, with even his personality fitting in on this team well. His defense doesn't seem to be close to what it used to though and Lawrie's (SSS) #s don't look very good for 2B. It would be a pretty big downgrade defensively. Really anything that moves Lawrie from 3B to 2B is a pretty big downgrade defensively. Would love Utley if his knees could handle it.
  3. Great to see a pitcher in our org having some success. Getting guys like Stroman, Norris and Hutch in the rotation as useful pieces really makes it easier to go after the real top end guys in a few years when Dickey, M.B, Happ's and Morrow's money is off the books and clears us 40+ million dollars. It's sad that Drabek actually seems to have his control together but can't miss enough bats to be useful.
  4. What did I just read? It is incredible that time after time of seeing players with ridiculously bad k/bb rates, or super high strikeout rates, that people still want to pin some dreams on these guys. Francisco has struck out 44 times in 112 at bats. That would equal about 200 strikeouts in just 500 ABs. How did I just read he has GREAT contact skills but strikes out too much. Francisco is useful. I'm glad we have him. But getting any more excited than that would be a bit ridiculous. His OBP will float down towards .300 pretty quickly.
  5. They went all in already, last off-season. As soon as they got all those players, the next question asked was "Do they still have more money to spend?" Fans will always want the team to get better, I get that, but at this point our payroll is not the problem. Actually nothing is the problem, the players, the manager managing them, the coaches coaching them and the GM that assembled the players all together have us sitting in first place by 3 games.
  6. Can't be bothered to figure out how to make this small enough to post, but let's not forget this man... http://cdn.fangraphs.com/not/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/3k9Qe.gif
  7. I remember someone who posted something showing that Seitzer might actually be worth quite a few wins (in the offseason) based on his time with the Royals. What thread did that post come from?
  8. Could've and would've if the ump didn't blow that early call. It's been a lot of that tonight, really hurting.
  9. Guess the MLB is getting tired of the Jays being in !st and the message has been sent down the pipes.
  10. Happs often sat 92/93 in starts. He's always struck out his fair share of batters for a guy who doesn't get a lot of credit for his stuff. The organization obviously traded for Happ thinking he had another step up. I really can't blame them even though in never really panned out so far. Just a little improvement on his command and he'd definitely be a very solid MLB pitcher.
  11. Brandon Morrow could also be the worst pitcher on our staff. All he's done when healthy in the last two years is kill our bullpen. If someone gets injured right when he is about to come back then give him a shot, but I would not remove anyone doing even half decent to give him a shot.
  12. Kevin Seitzer needs to continue being a great hitting coach. Jose Reyes needs to remain healthy and produce like an all-star. We have several players over-performing, we'll need him and Lawrie to step up offensively when those players cool down. I don't know what else, but I know if Morrow comes back I don't want him anywhere near our starting rotation.
  13. Not really. Percentage of a guy scoring from 3B with no outs is very high. No reason to risk that.
  14. These couple of threads that exist here are so dead. The majority voted them over to the main board, I don't know why it wasn't done just because of the loud minority. It's so rare lately for our prospects to have two good seasons in a row. Almost every time one steps up they struggle the year after.
  15. People here love Molina when he's on the Rays. I don't see the problem with our catchers in the Buck/Molina year, or this year. The only real problem with the catching was Arencibia. It was a BIG problem obviously though.
  16. Almost every single one of our pitchers are under performing again. All of this is useless unless we get rid of Walker in my opinion. I can remember having bad hitting and pitching for stretches of years, but nothing like this. As for trading guys. Don't think we are there quite yet. Might as well wait until late June. If we are still terrible at that time then yes, it will be time to make some moves. People here still have way more faith in top prospects then they should though. We've seen no real sign that this organization can develop good prospects, so I am more than happy hoping on a miracle this year than committing to 3 or 4 more years of crap.
  17. Lawrie you idiot stop waving your bat around. You had the right idea when you started to go quieter. He's still quieter at the plate than last year but come on. It's how he moves his bat back rght as the pitch is coming each time that really screws him over though. Just awful.
  18. Definitely was out. You can see the bag move / compress as Edwin's toe went back down. Didn't even look like a question to me. As long as you can tell he's out, then he's out, no matter how close it is. No harm done though.
  19. Hutch being forced to work the middle of the plate instead of the edges. It's ridiculous so far, Orioles consistently getting calls way outside and Hutch not even getting the corners.
  20. McGowan's fastball is still okay but the breaking pitches aren't near what they used to be. He's my favourite pitcher, but he won't survive long in the rotation without some better offspeed stuff. Pretty lucky night tonight for him.
