  1. Carter to 1B and Desmond to a Zobrist type role makes so much sense that sadly I can't possibly see the Rockies doing it.
  2. Is stupid Chris Carter going to sign somewhere? I know he sucks but he doesn't suck in fantasy.
  3. Well geez... Looks like he's a catcher again and has a shot according to the good people of Massachussetts. http://www.masslive.com/redsox/index.ssf/2017/01/boston_red_sox_will_give_blake.html This begs the question of what the hell they were thinking with that move to the OF.
  4. Swihart kept his C too. I'm not sure if even that is enough to give him keeper value but maybe... I don't have a catcher, the bar is low, he's still quite young....
  5. I mean honestly what's the point of falling out with Stroman just to keep Mike Stud as your intro music.
  6. Unlike LOD, I'm actually pretty good in this league. 91. Stephen Gonsalves, LHP (MIN) 64. Ariel Jurado, RHP (TEX) 33. Kevin Newman, SS (PIT) 24. Manuel Margot, OF (SD) 22. Blake Rutherford, OF (NYY) 16. Mitch Keller, RHP (PIT) 12. Eloy Jimenez, OF (CHC) Of course, my issue has never really been acquiring prospects. It's that I never hold on to guys long enough for them to pay off and instead mostly just squander them left and right on lousy returns.
  7. It doesn't look like co-commish privileges rolled over (at least it doesn't look like mine did). Not sure what the plan is this year but I though having several people who could approve trades and whatnot was useful last year.
  8. O.K. At least there's some kind of maximum on how many DL players you can add and stash.
  9. Does Yahoo! allow unlimited DLs as a league option? If they do, that could cause some problems.
  10. Mejia is what matters though Dyson as a throw in is a nice touch.
  11. I don't think they want the game to be played on turf anymore. Some franchises have hosted it twice since the Jays last had it. The Rays have never hosted it at all.
  12. Morrow was a very talented and likable Blue Jay. Hard to fault him for not having good health. Reading his name made me wonder about diabetic athletes in general. As usual, there's a Wikipedia entry for that. The list of diabetic athletes is longer than I realized and includes some very successful careers though it's possible that some of these athletes were only diagnosed very late of even after their careers were over. The article doesn't really give any clarifications on that. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_sportspeople_with_diabetes
  13. For a good little while there I thought we were discussing Derek Holland.
  14. 29 waiver for 56 waiver + Gavin Cecchini Spanky to confirm
  15. Yeah it's more about making the season ticket holder's important by making yourself available to them and pampering them a bit. What's actually said at these things is secondary (though the Beest could reliably be counted on for some real howlers).
  16. Yeah I guess that is surprising but I'm o.k. with it.
  17. I just see him as a cheap plan B for Jimenez. Presumably the main reason he's here is that he's cheap. This should give the team the financial flexibility to make another signing.
  18. Jaime Garcia + Andriese + 41 for McCann and Capps. Dinger to confirm.
  19. I'm convinced that the team will do the same. They are filling out the 40 with other names. Assuming he doesn't have a bad season, McGuire would make sense if they need a longer term replacement for Martin but bringing him up for spot duty would be a waste.
  20. Anyone else surprised by Crawford at 4? I thought his stock was higher than that. I'd say ahead of Rosario at the very least.
  21. I'm going to link to Stoeten here because he has the exact text of the message that was sent out: This year, we will not be holding the annual “Leadoff” event. The increased demand and rising fan interest in the Blue Jays over the last couple of seasons has caused us to re-evaluate select offerings. Instead, all Season Ticket Member events will be hosted during the season, including an opportunity to attend our popular Fan Festival and Autograph Session. Full details regarding Season Ticket Member events will be communicated shortly. http://bluejaysnation.com/2017/1/24/blue-jays-cancel-state-of-the-franchise-season-ticket-holders-event There's really no indication in that message that there is a specific measure in place to make it up to the fans. They'll have to scramble to find something.
  22. McGuire's only 21. At that age, he could realistically be still be playing College Ball. You can't just assume that all his development is done and that he can't improve his projection.
  23. The Jays have always done this regardless of how the offseason went so you can bet there will be some belly-aching over this. Some teams prefer to do a kind of fan fest in the offseason instead of something like this which would be fine. They would still get accused of avoiding questions but at least they wouldn't also get accused of stiffing the fans. I'm surprised by this and I'd really like to hear the rationale.
