"In another roster move, outfielder Matt Tuiasosopo, who was claimed off waivers from the Arizona Diamondbacks last week, has been designated for assignment."
I've said some disparaging things about McGowan and have been very skeptical of his comeback. I wasn't a fan of his contract but given the absence of alternatives and given that the team has held on to him for so long, they might as well run with him and get the most of out of him while he's healthy for once. This is the perfect opportunity for the McGowan contract to provide value for both parties.
Yep. I'm a little surprised Jansen isn't starting the season on the DL but that's good news I suppose. The only wild card right now is Reyes and his health. If he's day to day, they'll have to shorten that bullpen to accomodate another infielder.
It's such a lose/lose with Gose. Not having him play everyday isn't ideal but neither is him going through the motions in AAA. It's hard to see any scenario where he plays himself into the starting job for 2015 (which is pretty bleak considering the likeliness that Rasmus will walk).
There's also the strange battle between Sierra and the so far absent Tuiasasopo (I'm rooting for Michael Taylor from the A's in that battle but it's not going to happen.).
Michae Taylor straight up beasting for the A's this spring (.308/.390/.615/1.005) but he's out of options.
