  1. So did you create a kickstarter?
  2. Valencia's splits still play at 1B/DH against lefties and just because Donaldson is a better bet for health doesn't mean a backup 3B who can hit a bit isnt's a useful contingency.
  3. I'm not going to just assume that.

I hate wrestling but even I have to admit that's top level heel right there.
  5. Mayberry doesn't really do anything that isn't covered by Pillar and Valencia so that one is a no brainer. Dirks and Smoak is more surprising given the absence of lh hitters on the lineup but the Jays probably know more about Dirks and hit outlook than we do. Health was a question mark and if the probability of him being nothing more than a sunk cost was high, you can't blame AA for moving on. Smoak seemed, at the least, to bea very solid platoon option from the left side and a Smoak/Valencia platoon at either 1B or DH seems like it would provide pretty decent production but we'll see what AA has in mind. He seems pretty serious about committing as little money as possible towards the DH spot.
  6. Yeah I didn't care for the benching. It seemed like an unnecessary humiliation for a veteran player. So he was late one day? Big whoop. Sit him one game. Make sure he knows why he was benched and move on. Gibby seems like he holds grudges and I'm not a fan of that.
  7. I find it interesting that Rasmus has generated so little discussion from the fan base when Melky, a flawed player in his own right, has generated tons of discussion, to the point where some people go far as to gauge the whole success of the offseason on whether or not he's brought back (a notion so ridiculous it makes me angry). Anyways, Rasmus makes a kind of sense on paper. He's a bounce back candidate, he bats left, he plays CF but he's basically worn out his welcome. He's was just so worthless this year. The CF defense isn't even good anymore and the bat doesn't play anywhere else. I'm curious to see where he ends up and how much money he makes.
  8. Saunders has been discussed a lot on the board. He's pretty much the most popular alternative to a big money option.
  9. Might be an improvement over Goins/Izturis as the main backup SS though.
  10. Yeah Drabek's trash, not a reference.
  11. I guess but I like the idea of a journeyman getting this meaningless accolade rather than a superstar. I think the fans could actually get behind that too. It's fun. More fun than just giving it to David Wright.
  12. Poor man's Evan Gatis? The situations are somewhat similar although Souza isn't the power behemoth that Gatis was.
  13. Hum... Perhaps... Or maybe they just have better metric than we do?
  14. Well then how do you explain the discrepancy between how the Nats value him and how Steamer values him? Are the Nats just dumm? They seem like a pretty sound organization.
  15. Wow you are pretty stubborn and arrogant for someone who is not very informed. Twenty-five is still old for the level but I guess it's easier to just make a Randy Ruiz reference and assume stupidity on the part of the people you are debating than research what you're talking about.
  16. Why? What would have been so terrible about Sogard winning?
  17. He put up those numbers at 25 actually. He turns 26 in April. Maybe the most relevant question is why is Steamer so high on him? This guy didn't reach AA until he was 24. His numbers have serious age inflation to them.
  18. MiLB numbers just don't mean the same when you're not the same age. Not even close. I get what you're saying overall but to call JFaS delusional over the top. He may simply be wrong.
  19. I don't know if Souza will fetch a lot or not but I could see the Nationals asking for a lot because they don't really have any urgent needs. They might just keep Souza around for depth. If he was out of options, it would be a different story but since he's only used one option year, I don't see why they wouldn't just keep him for depth unless sometone offers something good. He's a great fit for the Jays under the assumption that he's cheap but no matter how informed the assumption is, it's still an assumption.
  20. Whoah... I didn't say anything about all that. I'm just saying that a MiLB award means as much to Billy Burns as it does to Souza. That was JFaS's point. I'm not taking up this whole argument.
  21. Presenting the MLB Social Media Award. The Jays' own Marcus Stroman is up for best rookie. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/awards/y2014/social-media/?category=bestRookie "Chances are you don't want to step into the box and face Marcus Stroman. It probably wouldn't end well. But follow him on Twitter? It's a fairytale ending waiting to happen." Yes but will it be a fairytale ending for Stroman in the voting will it be Trevor Bauer's Cinderella story? "Do you enjoy comical musings about high school football games and relationships with ex-girlfriends? If so, Trevor Bauer is worth a follow from you."
  22. Spice up your meatloaf by adding a cheese tunnel. Build a flat bottom layer from the ground meat mixture, place alternating cheddar and mozzarella sticks and then build around and over the cheese. Don't leave any cracks or the cheese will leak out you'll have a mess on your hand. Be like a brick layer with that s*** and enjoy!
  23. His point is that MiLB accolade are pretty flawed as a gauge of value. Let us not forget that JPA was once won a MVP award in the minors.
