  1. Yeah they kind of do especially since they don't even entirely prevent you from getting a s***** overnight slot.
  2. Tomas and a guy we all derped on last year so very nearly just one guy.
  3. Drafting Santana over Kang just because the former is younger makes zero sense to me.
  4. I don't quite like Kang enough to not care about his position. There are some upside plays that I like as much or more, who are better fits and who should be there for me later. I'd draft Kang if I had still had the pick I suppose but I'm not kicking myself that I don't.
  5. Not in the slightest. I'm quite content rolling with Nick Franklin, Jose Ramirez, Brock Holt and maybe eventually Mookie Betts.
  6. I feel like the opportunity to sell high was during the same off-season where Nicolino et al. were unloaded. I'm not so sure that's he a sell high anymore. It all depends on how teams view his bullpen stint. Does it make him more appealing by establishing a short reliever floor? This board is pretty divided on that with many like myself (and I believe yourself too) feeling that his stint as a reliever didn't really establish much of anything.
  7. Suspense is going to build up during the day... Who are these players that Gibbers is trying to choose from? Is Kang even one of them? What's Dinger's play? Is he merely going to do the obvious thing and replace the closer he had to trade away? (I'd say more than likely since he's doesn't strike me as the kind of guy to over-complicate his strategy or try to make himself look like the smartest guy in the room).
  8. Yes it was a measured response and I think part of it is that Zaun may realize that he pulled a Hayhurst. Even though his intent was to praise, he still spilled the beans on the kind of clubhouse stuff that doesn't get talked about and in addition to that, he named names . I can see why Zaun is more concerned with doing right by his former Orioles teammates at this point than he would be with keeping up the shtick. Gotta give him credit for having some self awareness and decency. He could have easily reacted with Charles Barkley style, "you never had a date to the prom, you nerd", type nonsense.

Maybe he's not in on the joke. Maybe he thinks he provides quality analysis.
  10. Anyone know who Minor Leaguer is?
  11. At this point the waiver draft is really just filling out your roster so it's hard to call anyone a reach. There was only good International guy (maybe two if you count Kang but it's highly debatable) and by some unusual fluke of collective inattention, there was also Souza.
  12. I can be a bit of a wildcard too. I think Boxy had a reason to think there was a chance.
  13. Doubled down on Rays. Traded Odor to nab Souzas and replace Odor with Franklin by trading H. Rondon.
  14. Nah. I'm taking Souza. I probably would have still taken him even if GP went off the board with his pick and I certainly didn't trade Odor just to replace him with Kang. I'm hoping that I'm going to luck into a big power bat here. I'm not overwhelmingly optimistic about it but I feel it's a chance I had to take and if it doesn't pay off big, it should still pay off modestly.
  15. A 32 year old replacement level player. Kind of guy you hope you never have to resort to using.
  16. Thanks AA. Any other insights you care to share?
  17. I figured Hawkins or someone a lot like him was going there which is why I traded the pick. I have no idea if that's what he has in mind or not.
  18. I'd say Estrada has a slight edge over him but there's definitely an opportunity there if Estrada falters and Norris doesn't. McGowan probably had longer odds when he ended up taking a job last year.
  19. That's fair but he was a 21 year old two pitch pitcher who probably didn't belong in the majors in the first place. That being said, Sanchez himself is still only 22. It's funny how Alvarez's rise seemed meteoric while it feels like Sanchez has been taking forever to develop. In reality, they both made the majors at 21, the only difference being that one pitched a significant amount of innings as a starter and the other pitched only a few as a reliever.
  20. Hum... I'd be interested to explore this comparison more to see how well it holds up. I feel like beyond the velocity, there was a lot more data to support the idea of keeping Alvarez than there would be for the idea of keeping Sanchez right now but I'd have to dig some more to give you a real answer.
  21. Waiver #5 is on the board if someone wants to jump up at the last minute (presumably to nab one of the top closing options).
