  1. Serves them right for having a Juan Uribe bobblehead.
  2. On a per game average, 2015 Dernard Span is outperforming 2014 Span. Just thought I'd throw that out there.
  3. Quite possibly posted somewhere else but I haven't been keeping tabs on the board that closely. http://news.nationalpost.com/sports/mlb/toronto-blue-jays-jose-bautista-says-pain-in-shoulder-non-existent-after-pre-game-throwing-session Toronto Blue Jays’ Jose Bautista says pain in shoulder ‘non-existent’ after pre-game throwing session John Lott | May 26, 2015 10:22 PM ET More from John Lott | @LottOnBaseball TORONTO – On Monday afternoon, Jose Bautista spoke of “throbbing pain” in his shoulder that kept him awake at night and barred him from playing right field for more than a month. Blue Jays' Jose Bautista hopes cortisone shot heals nagging shoulder injury so he can return to right-field duty On Tuesday afternoon, Bautista was playing catch, throwing at 90 feet, and fielding fly balls in right field during batting practice. He said he felt no pain. The cortisone injection he received on Sunday was working. “It felt better,” the Blue Jays slugger said after taking his normal turn in batting practice. “One day at a time. So definitely a progression. A different feeling. It’s been a short window since I had the injection, but I feel encouraged by the signs of how it felt today.” After resting for two days to let the injection work its anti-inflammatory magic, Bautista returned to the lineup as the DH and worked some magic of his own. He drove in five runs with three doubles in the Jays’ 10-9 win over the White Sox. It was his 25th game at DH since he suffered a shoulder strain while making a throw from right field to first base on April 21. Before the game, he made about 25 throws, starting at about 40 feet and working up to 90 feet. The pain that had bothered him for more than a month was “non-existent,” he said. If he continues to progress without pain, he said he believes he can be ready to play right field when the Jays play in Washington on Monday, starting a series in which they cannot use the DH. “It felt OK,” he said of his throwing session. “The strength’s not there, but normally our strength comes back in our arms fairly quick. So as long as I can remain pain-free, I’ll escalate it as quickly as I can.” Bautista said Monday that he has an impingement in his shoulder, triggered by inflammation from that throw on April 21. His shoulder had been sore before that, he said. A cortisone injection typically reduces inflammation quickly. Depending on the injury and the individual, its effects can last weeks or months.
  4. Key word there is "become". He certainly wasn't elite at the time of the trade.
  5. Hard to believe that trade actually happened.
  6. No by proof. I just meant "proof" generally. Re-read the thread. See in what context I made the statement/joke.
  7. I have mixed feelings. I don't listen to his show anymore but I feel that as long as Sportsnet is giving him a platform than someone should be calling him out on his s***. That someone just isn't going to be me.
  8. People who argue when proof is on their side are the worst.
  9. Well I for one have never had a problem with Wilner when I called him (which admiteddly was a really long time ago since I haven't listened him in years). I even won his trivia contest back when they still had those. That being said even though I've never had a bad experience personally, he's still an insufferable windbag and I feel like we really don't hate on him nearly as much as he deserves to be hated on. He's basically Keith Law with half the smarts and twice the arrogance.
  10. I guess it depends on the flexibility of the player but it's hard for me to wrap my head around the idea that you could bend your knee the wrong way without it being pretty serious.
  11. Hyperextended knee to be precise. Being reported as a minor injury even though Dr. Kingkat (not a licensed physician) thinks it sounds kind of serious.
  12. The idea that a DH would provide more value by playing a crappy 1B never sat well with me. I like this more.
  13. If I were AA, I'd pounce on whatever trade window is being created by this recent run but that's just me.
  14. Yeah I'm not worried about that as much as you are. I think his rope will stay about the same as it is now which I figure is about two implosions. If he flukes into a good ERA in the interim, I don't think that really does any real harm. We'll have to put up with a lot of erroneous evaluations of his performances from the likes of Buck and Tabby and casual fans but though that will only get increasingly annoying, it's not really that important in the larger picture. I think the only real concern I have is that AA might overrate Sanchez and refrain from making a profitable trade involving him. Now THAT would be really bad for the franchise.
  15. Or more recently, that time Kyle Drabek started the season in the rotation and was "succeeding" in spite of himself. I remember falling for that when I really should have known better. I hated Drabek but then I started thinking. "His makeup has improved. He's working himself out of jams." which was a really dumb thing to think about a pitcher I never had believed in before. Working yourself out of jams is not a sustainable skills. Sustainable success only comes when you stop making a habit of putting yourself into jams in the first place.
  16. I knew that would get the argument started again. I think what he means (or what I hope he means) is that by whatever fluke, his struggles haven't hurt the team nearly as much as his numbers would indicate and since the last couple of starts were decent to boot, they'll just keep throwing him out there until he does start actually hurting the team. Aaron Sanchez is kind of like Ezequiel Carrera right now where things are working out despite all indications showing that the ability to succeed long term is simply not there. It's just one of those small sample abberations that doesn't really make sense but you'll gladly take anyways.
  17. It's generally one of the better Jays blogs but this post was really amateurish.
  18. I always forget that Goins is a lefty... Also doesn't this mean that Kawa is exposed?
  19. Pompey in his 22 games in April: 203/276/354 Travis in his 14 games in May: 185/241/315 Timing is everything.
  20. Don't be a hypocrite.
  21. This doesn't directly answer your question but it's a solid Sanchez analysis and a good read: http://capitaljays.com/2015/05/19/aaron-sanchez-pitch-fx-joe-kelly-and-a-truly-unique-changeup/
  22. Well he was litterally tasked with finding his own replacement when he first came in and ultimately recommended himself as his own replacement. That being said, you raise a good point. There seems to be a bit of a leadership vaccuum above Beaston. The terms (and length) of his employment shouldn't be this fluid.
  23. Let's not forget that Paul Beaston was originally a temporary hire to help with the transition to a new President and only decided after the fact that he should in fact be that new president. This guy is milking it for all it's worth. A smooth transition may not even be possible. He'll probably have to be forced out like he nearly was this off-season in favour of Duquette.
  24. This seems like the sensible course of action. I don't think a pinch hit appearance would justify compromising the possibility of back dating the DL stint (although IIRC the team has done exactly that in similar previous cases).
