  1. Blue Jays' Franklin Morales: Limited to playing catch http://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/baseball/news/blue-jays-franklin-morales-limited-to-playing-catch/ Edit: that article was from two weeks ago.
  2. If only Jimmy Paredes had loved his mom as much as EE and JB.
  3. Fair enough. With the benefit of hindsight, it would have been more beneficial to just turf the Revere contract than make the trade since neither player is worth their salary atm. It's not entirely fair to do that but you're right that's it's not entirely fair to give the front office credit for "winning" the trade either. To trutly win the trade, Revere would have to perform up to his salary because the Revere money could have been recovered otherwise.
  4. Can't complain too much about the supporting cast that was assembled by the FO. Storen is not great but no worse or more expensive than Revere and Biagini, Floyd, Chavez have all solidified the bullpen much like Happ and Estrada have solidified the rotation. Resigning Barney, Saunders and Smoak has really looked and shrewd. Even the much maligned decision to protect Zeke from waivers has looked prescient. The under-peformance of the core has pretty much been the whole issue with the team.
  5. That plus merely opening up the roster spot I suppose.
  6. Biagini was not a particularly good starter in the minors and he wasn't that young either. Twenty-five in AA last year. Turning him into a reliever seems to have been the key to unlocking his potential. Giants probably should have converted him themselves but that's neither here nor there. Now that he's doing so well, I see no reason to move him back to starting.
  7. Yeah WAR is basically assumed to be fWAR. If you want to quote bWAR, you can't just say WAR without confusing people. In any case, I agree with his basic point. Barney is essentially the player Goins is trying to become. Might as well go with established Barney over proto Barney.
  8. He's going by bWAR not fWAR.
  9. Not sure what to say to this except that I feel like this post should not go unnoticed.
  10. That's fine but you're asking him to do his "finding" at the MLB level and that can be a real liability for a team with eyes on contention. I think you need to already have a reasonable idea what's going on with him and how to fix it to make this worthwhile. He's 39 year old so him simply hitting the wall seems probable. I like the trade fine on paper but I'd like to know what kind of plan they have to make this work. Maybe just hope he figures it out and otherwise just DFA him when one of Schultz or Cecil comes back?
  11. It was an accident after which you were told specifically to quit it with the name dropping which you didn't. If you want to talk minor leagues, prospects, whatever, there are other threads for that.
  12. I just don't understand how after the CS incident, you would come in and start the same s*** again? IIRC, our league drafts before any of the others so there's no reason to not just wait until the actual draft to find out who we're taking (not that other leagues don't correct our mistakes anyways).
  13. At this point we might as well start the draft before the whole thing gets spoiled. Cyborg is like ASOIF book reader rubbing it in the face of a GOT watcher.
  14. No please don't actually. Wait 'til you're facing Miami or something.
  15. I draft at 2 and 4. It's confusing because nearly every pick got bumped down by Boxy's 2B pick.
  16. Happ is a solid signing. He doesn't have to be Pittsburgh Happ for that (though obviously we'd all like for him to try and recreate his greatest success). Happ and Estrada didn't cost picks or require long term commitments. They could be perfectly average pitchers and the signings would make sense just as a way to eat innings and give the offense a chance. Anything beyond that is gravy.
  17. Better in terms of current value sure because Allard and Buehler are depressed assets right now but either or both could come back to haunt me. Gibbers is obviously taking the long view here as he usually does. Buehler alone could well be worth more than the pick but I don't particularly have the appetite to wait and find out. I hate my draft from last year. I had someone whispering in my ear and I didn't make picks that fit my usual m.o. They might still turn out to be good picks but I'm glad for the opportunity to get a kind of do-over. Three picks in the top 6 gives me an opportunity to rebuild my farm more to my liking.
  18. Yes I know that in actuality it's the 4th buy it's still listed as the #3 in the team assets because of the whole 2B thing. I'm assuming that 82 is actually 83 too.
  19. Aaron Loup got a lot more sun during his DL stint. He used to be so white.
