  1. I could see him getting a bench coach job. As of right now I don't really see any managerial openings that he would fit into. I doubt the Cubs would want a coke-head in charge their young players, and I don't think the Yankees would touch him with a 10 foot pole. Of course I'm sure a couple more spots will open up, but I doubt he'll get consideration. Although with a bench/field coach I do think he has a lot to offer. He has 5 or 6 years of experience being at the helm and he was not completely god awful at it and he does seem to connect well with players. Take some of decision making away from him and he might be very a very efficient staff member for some team.
  2. Nah. Some team will give him a chance because his teams have won 90+ games the last 4 seasons. They won't take into account that he had very good teams assembled for him, they'll just look at his winning percentage for those years and get a boner. The Rangers have to get rid of him though. They need to blame someone for the meltdowns the past couple of years and who is the easiest and cheapest to blame? The manager. You can't really fire all the players.
  3. 1) Aim for fences. 2) Swing ???
  4. Let the man play center and close out the (I'm going to assume) win.
  5. I've been incredibly busy with work so I haven't kept up with the postseason race but I believe the Yankee's are out of the hunt, right? If they are I don't see any reason why the guy can't play the whole game in center.
  6. http://screen.yahoo.com/sports-friends/first-030000013.html I came across this and thought it was really funny.
  7. That's completely irrelevant. The 10 year contracts that the Yankee's give out could not be considered even remotely "team friendly." Also, Trout is almost a decade younger than Cano. 10 years of prime production>3 or 4 years of prime production and 6 years of declining production.
  8. Can you imagine the fallout in New York for them not being able to resign their best player after a season where they missed the playoffs? If they don't resign him and fail to make a splash this offseason heads will roll.
  9. DH Kawasaki 4 for 5 with a double. Maybe we can teach him to catch
  10. Ugh, I wish I was capable of having tunnel vision. Being aware that every aspect of life, including work, is multifaceted MAKES MY LIFE SO DAMN HARD!
  11. I would think that is all part of "production." Isn't it?
  12. If you do make a video can I suggest that the first scene is zaun coming into the room with ”pull dat ball+dingers+ribbies=production” or something on the board and say that he is replacing Murphy as teacher or something
  13. Mark Cuban does have a lot of influence, but from reading interviews with him (he actually speaks pretty candidly) he allows his basketball people to do their jobs to find talent and he just says yes and no about spending money. He likes to be hands-on, but he isn't nearly as cray-cray as Loria. I think he's part of the Sith.
  14. It is my dream as a Philly inhabitant to see a team run by someone who has a clue. I'm tired of arguing with my coworkers on how the Phillies are going to crash and burn
  15. Just wondering, but has anyone heard the cause of Justin Miller's death?
  16. The Marlins are in full tear down mode. Not as extreme as the Astros, but the last thing they would want to do is pay millions of dollars to a player when they are trying to lose this year. You're right, they wanted Hech and AA probably said that Escobar had to go with.
  17. I also think that AA said that JP was his guy as a way to keep his trade value up during the off season. If I remember correctly, it originally was JP that was going to the Mets, not d'Arnaud. It wouldn't surprise me if AA has tried to trade JP throughout the year, it just so happens that he has seemingly gotten worse throughout the year.
  18. Exactly. If you're on a boat and your boat suddenly springs a few leaks, you try to fix the leak that's causing the most flooding first because it's causing the most damage. After you fix that it's easier to deal with the remaining leaks.
  19. I'm sure he has read up on it on some medical research sites, but don't expect any links for them.
  20. True, but I kinda viewed that post as the Phillies won't overpay to keep him so they will allow him to see what his market value is.
  21. For what it's worth, Ruiz is incredibly popular here in Philly. It would be hard for the Phillies to let him go just on the PR aspect.
  22. There might be a chance he asked to be dfa if he thought a team would pick him up for a month in the majors instead of going home
  23. He'll need more twitter followers for that to happen
  24. I wouldn't mind Doc as a back of the rotation guy either. He couldn't be worse than some of the guys we've been trotting out there and maybe his presence would add a little bit of accountability to the team
  25. We should have a little game to see if Pillar can get more hits in a month and a half than JPA has walked all year.
