I agree. Depending on what the payroll will be in 2014 the Jays may have to buy their way out of their problems (ie free agents)

What leverage do the Cubs really have? Sure it's THE top pitcher on the trade market right now but if they don't move him...they'll lose him and get nothing (or close to nothing). Jacking up the asking price if you want to is fine, but if you look around it doesn't sound like there are as many buyers as it's being made out to be - willing to (or can come close to) the demands. s*** man, let's go get Peavy and Weeks be done with it.

I think the playoffs are still unrealistic for this year, but it's imperative we get out of 5th and at least 3rd place, and finish let's say within 6 games or so of first. At least they can chalk up the slow April/May start and argue for better results in 2014 (assuming realistic changes are done ie new bats and pitching)

Not only does it seem like our injuries cripple our team where others survive, teams like the Yankees sign bums lie Wells and Overbay and get production from their replacements! Even if it isnt long term production they still come in and sustain them.

We're Sellers thread...right on cue. I'd be less on board to trade Jansen because of other closer volatility (if he can sucessfully close then hang onto him). I'm all on board for trading Lind. Every day he's creeping back into the guy we all wanted gobe from the git go. Also Oliver and Johnson for sure.

If I were the Jays at this point I'd be trying to position the team to finish 3rd or 2nd and maybe miss the wilcard by about 3 games. Then you'll have SOME grace with the general fans to say "Oh, if it wasn't for a bad April May we would've made it" Then re-tool again in the offseason and come strong(er) for 2014. I'd still try and get a SP or 2B (or 3B if you plan to slot Lawrie at 2B) for this year with the idea of them being useful going forward.

Chase Headley and Jedd Gyorko but Jedd ain't going nowhere. Jason Marquis has a 9-4/3.79 ERA but his WHIP is awful at 1.49 and dude's given up 17 HRS already and walked 63 in those 107.0 IP.

Anyways, Lang says to JP that you have something to say...and JP proceeds to say (in summary - as soon as audio is in I'll post a link) * Nobody in the Jays clubhouse (JP says he's speaking on behalf of the team) have any respect for those guys * JP says that with Zaun that nobody has respect for a guy who was using performance enhancing drugs * JP then goes onto say that Dirk had "below average tools for a major leauge player" and that he essentially tried to help the guy when he was in AAA as his catcher * He also says that the criticism is too harsh and that they make it seem like the game is easy to do * Feels bad that the fans have to listen to them Depending on what time you're reading this Jeff Blair will have Jerry Howarth on soon for 1 hour and they'll be taking calls. And since this just happened you'll also wanna check out Baseball Today and hear from Dirk Hayhurst response.
