  1. AA seems to think that he can cheap out all the time to build this roster, whether it's years or dollars or both. That won't fly when you need to swing big for valuable free agents.
  2. Betting on the "law of averages" as an excuse to have not made any changes to a roster that finished last in your division is plain dumb logic. And not the kind of thinking a GM of any team should have.
  3. Sign: Jiminez, Santana Acquire: Ackley Trade: Santos Totally random - but my wife and I had a daughter this past Saturday. Thought I'd share lol

  5. I dont follow soccer at all but I keep hearing that these guys are a big deal. Can someone compare their star level to some MLB players?
  6. I remember CBS interviewing Hentgen's Dad during the World Series. So proud of his son... Thats gonna be rough man.
  7. Step 1 - Sign Tanaka. Step 2 - Sign Garza. Step 3 - Trade for Kendrick. Step 4 - World Domination. *Narf*
  8. I don't think Melky is like Delmon Young out there, but I'm hoping for a better offensive game from him. Especially if we end up relying on defensive spots on the diamond (ie Goins) at the sacrifice to offense. We'll need that production to come from elsewhere.
  9. We dont know for sure what AA moves he can make - that doesnt come out till after the fact. I'm looking at a team that went 74 - 88 and is seriously considering not doing any major changes but expecting lets say...a modest increase of wins? Based on a bunch of "what ifs" and "bounce backs"? I find it hilarious that AA has talked about the free agent market or trade market being expensive...late breaking news? Lol You've already committed to win-now.
  10. I was "having dialog" last night with my wife in bed. Much like AA, nothing was accomplished.
  11. It could be AA has gone both. He can't tell us that the trade market is too demanding AND the free agent market is too expensive. Those are built in crutches of why you are never able to upgrade or change your team. If AA is truly committed to making change then he should be doing both.
  12. Our farm system is still good! Now quick let's gut it for aging veterans. #ALLIN
  13. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/compensation/cots/national-league/philadelphia-phillies/ Hefty contracts. And... Cliff Lee - limited no-trade protection (may block trades to 21 clubs each season) Cole Hamels - limited no-trade protection
  14. I don't see how Santos does NOT get traded - pretty much outta the bag now.
  15. It's gonna take more than Cano and King Felix to make them competitive, especially in that AL West.
  16. If Brandow Morrow is frustrated that people criticize his health...stay healthy. Honestly, you want to be a starter? Throw more than 70 innings a year and pitch well, ya chaloopa.
  17. Agreed. Maybe this is a sign that AA is determined to get ahead of things and move quickly.
  18. Lol...ya. I hear that Diddy song "Coming Home" being played again. No more Stadium Love!
  19. That will be the common theme for every 2014 season preview for the Jays.
  20. Ya man, I thought the same when it came to Nelson Cruz. Trade Bautista for a front line starter and sign Cruz. You'll get a drop off in production but if we project that other hitters in the line up bounce back PLUS you add to the rotation, it's win-win.
  21. Agreed, although I do download the latest Baseball Tonight podcast as a quick fix, but I really enjoyed the format last year. Even with Mark Simon and his nasily voice. I still download the ESPN Fantasy Baseball and Football ones cuz I find Berry/Ravitz/Bell (and Pod Vader) pretty entertaining.
  22. I see a payroll boost of at least 20 million. I figure AA knows he's gotta do everything he can to salvage this roster/his job and Rogers will give him that chance. Already suggested but I do see Carlos Ruiz signed on a 2 year deal and JPA traded as part of a bigger package to get a impact piece. I'd imagine to Texas (Kinsler) or Chicago White Sox (Sale).
  23. Looks like the Angels are looking to unload, and we are in need of a 2B. http://t.basketball.realgm.com/realgm/#!/entry/angels-making-kendrick-aybar-available,51f65de5da27f5d9d0010c21
