  1. What a game for my first GDT!!! Officially 1-0!!
  2. I'm okay with him resting up for the weekend but at least DH him the way he's been hitting. Catchers don't usually play back to back on a short turn around. Night game/Day game
  3. Jays lineup Bautista DH Donaldson 3B Encarnacion 1B Tulowitzki SS Saunders RF Pillar CF Upton LF Travis 2B Thole C Nice to see both Saunders and Travis back in the lineup. Guess Thole will be catching both games this weekend. Not a bad idea to give Martin a break with a ton of huge games to play in September. Now's the time to do it! Hopefully the Jays can continue with the hot bats. Santana has been lights out lately so let's hope we can cool him off.
  4. Might want to check your facts before posting. They actually compared his numbers during the broadcast last night and they were significantly better with Navarro. He has a sub 3.00 Era and a whip below 1 with Navarro catching.
  5. It doesn't work that way. The better seed gets to pick what designation they want. So they can be either A, B or C, it's their choice. 2nd seed picks next and 3rd seed gets whatever is left. The "C" designation should get homefield though, they shouldn't have to choose between winning only 1 on the road or potentially winning 2 at home. "C" should be hosting the winner of the "A" vs "B" game.
  6. So basically if you had a choice you would choose "C" since you would only need to win one game to get the division, only drawback is you would have to win that game on the road. IMO, designation C should get homefield, cause now you have to choose between trying to win a single game on the road or possibly 2 at home if you choose designation "A". Strange setup.
  7. The team with the best record in only the games involving the tied teams would be ranked accordingly. Currently Jays are 14-12 (7-6 vs both Bos and Bal). Bos and Bal are tied with 12-13 records (they are 6-6 against each other so far). Crazy tight even in common games!
  8. With the race for the AL East title so close I was curious to see how the tiebreaker rules work. Did not realize in a 3 way tie for the division that the top team gets to choose their match up (designation A, B or C), interesting! Jays would get to choose their designation based on us currently having the best record between the potential tied team's (Boston ,Baltimore and Toronto). http://m.mlb.com/news/article/59527184/playoff-tiebreaker-rules/
  9. I would do 3/60 in a heartbeat for JB. I honestly don't see any team offering him any more then that. Doubt he takes a QO at his age. Unless he goes lights out in September and the playoffs he won't get anywhere near the 5/150 he thinks he's worth. I could see Boston giving EE something like 4/100 or 5/110. Don't see the Jays overpaying to keep him. With the Saunders has.been playing lately don't even know if I want him back.
  10. Doubt he takes the QO. Might be able to snag him for 3/60 though. I doubt any team gives him 5 years based on his age. With 2 DL stints this year, even if they are freak accidents, will still cause teams to shy away from any monster deal.
  11. On a side note. Jays break 103 year old record with 61 Ks in a 4 game series, old record was 58. Astros Pitchers now hold the record for Ks in a 3 and 4 game series. Both records set this year, crazy!
  12. I'm the OP. I don't think it's a rediculous idea to entertain the possibility. We know we're not gonna resign him, he's already made it clear he wants a huge contract that the Jays won't offer him. He's a horrible defender and basically a DH at this point. We have the offense to carry us through the playoffs without him, what we need is pitching! If we can get a #3 type starter and a solid bullpen guy, we would be stupid not to pull the trigger. Whether or not they are any possible suitors out there is a different story though.
  13. Just had a thought! We have proven that we can win without JB! Would there be any posibility of unloading him before the deadline? I realize that he has a no trade clause but wonder if he would waive it. We could probably get a decent starter and bullpen help. Thoughts?
  14. Rumours swirling that Jays are interested in Carlos Beltran! I'd be all for this move. Have JB DH and EE @ 1st.
  15. As we slowly approach the deadline at the end of the month who, or what type of player should the Jays target?? I'd be all for going after another top end starter as a rental for the playoff push. With Sanchez heading to the pen, I just don't feel comfortable with Stroman, Estrada, Happ, and Dickey. Who would be possibly available at the deadline? This year is, IMO, our final year to go for it all before things blowup in the offseason. I say we go all in now! Thoughts???
  16. Nice to see the Jays winning back to back 1 run games. The Jays will win their share of blowouts once the offense heats up. Their expected wins was 102 last year and they went 15-28 in 1 run games. Just need a little luck and we will break the franchise record. Also noted they won 2 games in a row without a HR! Wonder when the last time that happened?
  17. This thread reminds me of this. Haha http://youtu.be/hxszN_1k6fQ
  18. I would say 4/90 or 5/100 would be the max I'd give up. If he wants more then that let him walk and take the draft pick! Ideally I'd prefer a 3 year contract by that will never happen. Someone is gonna be paying big dollars for a 40 year old declining slugger and I sure hope it ain't the Jays.
  19. Jays are introducing dynamic ticket prices this year. Thoughts??? http://toronto.bluejays.mlb.com/tor/ticketing/dynamic_pricing_faq.jsp
  20. Izturis is back. Discuss. Decent depth signing I guess. Ho hum. http://www.tsn.ca/jays-sign-if-izturis-to-minor-league-deal-1.430616
  21. Hosmer just Bucknered that ball, wow!
  22. Thank you both, Wang and King! I owe you guys!
