  1. Well I forgot what Cowherd said exactly but upon reflection I could see people being legitimately offended. Didn't he say that baseball players are all stupid because a lot of them are Dominican and Dominicans have s***** schools? Lol that's pretty bad. But for a lot of this stuff it is phony- for example putting forth outrage over the "dresses" comment is phony and no one could convince me otherwise.
  2. Jays currently a -130 favorite to win the series vs. the Indians. Fangraphs playoff odds has us at a 59% chance to win the ALCS - not sure if that factors in the Indians injuries or not.
  3. Gary Sheffield was one of the people laughing. Not sure on the others. But yeah those are good points, I can respect that. I will give you kudos for being consistent. He would absolutely be gone if he made insensitive jokes about blacks or gays. My guess is that Pedro being Afro-Caribbean is also a factor in whether he has to go or not. A white guy would have been fired immediately. I just think that this stuff is too often followed by phony outrage when in reality it was a stupid joke. I personally wouldn't have cared if it were a similarly dumb joke about blacks, gays, white people, etc. It reminds me of people actually being upset about Gibbons' "dresses" comment. Who really cares? But again, if people are going to be upset by that stuff they should be upset about Native American jokes as well. I also didn't know that but it doesn't change my position. Just because he's a perpetrator of phony outrage doesn't mean I want the cycle to continue.
  4. Well then they should fire his colleagues too as they found it hilarious. Or better yet...calmer heads should prevail and they should just let him apologize on air and keep his job. He's just joking around, no need to trash him over it.
  5. Is there a link for that anywhere?
  6. Andrus bat flipped on a single in Game 2 as well. They are just butthurt crybabies.
  7. Yeah that's probably the right call. No harm in having a decent OF option down at AAA to come up should we need him.
  8. Would anyone consider an Upton/Pompey platoon for one of our two OF openings?
  9. He's done it on the road the past two seasons as well. I'd go with him Game 1 and Stroman Game 2. I checked the Indians splits just to see if Happ would be a good option for Game 2 and they seem to be pretty balanced. Kipnis weaker vs. lefties but they have enough right handed bats to even that out. Then of course they have all those switch hitters who have very balanced. Game 3 and 4 depends on what they are trying to do with Sanchez. If they are limiting him to one start per series then I think they'll put him Game 4 and Happ Game 3.
  10. You could not have scripted better outcomes so far this postseason. Beating the O's in dramatic fashion and then sweeping the Rangers with Odor committing an error on the final play.
  11. If you think Estrada is our best pitcher right now (and that's fine) saving him for a game 7 that may never happen probably isn't the best decision.
  12. I think they are trying to limit Sanchez' innings so my guess is he's the Game 4 starting pitcher. I'd like to see them make him the Game 3 pitcher so he could pitch Game 7 if needed. Hopefully we'd just win it before 7 then it wouldn't matter. I understand their concerns regarding his arm but Game 7 of the ALCS would be the biggest game this franchise has played in 20+ years so I think it's worth whatever risk he'd be undertaking by pitching twice this series. This is probably what I would do. 1 Estrada 2 Stroman 3 Sanchez 4 Happ 5 Estrada 6 Stroman 7 Sanchez
  13. If Bautista would take a one or two year deal I'd bring him back for sure, I'd even be willing to go pretty high on the AAV. I agree with you on EE as well- 4 or 5 years might be what he gets and that's way too scary to me. I'd rather spend multiple years on a guy like Dexter Fowler who is younger and can play the field.
  14. Couldn't agree more and I'll add Bannister's unhinged incitement of the Rangers crowd when the whole Odor punch went down. His team started it all because they were butthurt over a batflip and they waited until the very last chance that they had to retaliate in order to minimize the chances for the Blue Jays to retaliate. He then runs on the field yelling and clapping his hands like a buffoon while waiving his arms around. The guy is a total clown.
  15. And yeah the fans will be pissed off but if we win they'll get over it, especially if we replace those two with competent pieces. What if we signed Dexter Fowler to play RF and Carlos Beltran to DH? Those two would probably be cheaper and wouldn't be much of a dropoff, if any. If we started winning with those two the fans would still show up.
  16. We have one of the better rotations in baseball and all 5 are back next year. I feel comfortable in saying that we will contend next season. After that it's really hard to judge as a lot is up in the air. Bringing back Bautista and EE is scary. That'd be a lot of money tied up in older players. I don't want to turn in to the Phillies of the last 5 years.
  17. Loving that the sweep ended on his throwing error. He'll have a good 6 months to chew on that one.
  18. I think pretty much everyone but you has plenty of doubts about that.
  19. Look at this guy. That might be the first real signature I've seen on this board.
  20. Yeah that's what I'm thinking. They are formidable, but certainly less so with the injuries to their pitching.
  21. So is the consensus here that we'd rather play the Indians?
  22. What kind of ******** is this?
  23. Yeah I hear ya at 31 mil he's doing a-okay but rich people have feelings too! haha He seems like a cool dude and he's a great pitcher. Just had a handful of bad starts at the wrong time.
  24. With these injuries the Indians aren't that good of a team. Jays would probably be favored if both teams hang on and advance. And wow, poor David Price. That guy is going to get s*** on again all offseason.
  25. Nostradamus checking in after the Indians run off to a 4-0 lead.
