  1. Not really sure. I'm sure some get it while others wouldn't because he's been a big name around here for so long. The new GM seems to have a clue about what he's doing so my guess is that if ownership doesn't interfere he'd value and move Cargo at an appropriate price tag.
  2. There is a lot of buzz in Denver about trading Cargo. Not because they hate him or anything but rather they have some holes to fill and his high salary could prevent them from being filled. Not sure if the FO feels the same way.
  3. All 3 are fairly attractive pieces at those prices.
  4. Yeah it appears he's out of options. His value to the team is pretty limited in that case. I wonder if he could net a backup C or a reliever in a trade. He'd be an alright 5th OF/bench player in the NL.
  5. Who on that list has options? Zeke, Goins and perhaps Loup are the three I'm looking at.
  6. Yeah it could be a good idea to add a qualification component to the award. I remember in '99 when Palmeiro won the GG while playing only 28 games at first base, compared to 128 as a DH.
  7. I like those numbers. But would it be on top of the 1 year he's already signed for, the two years of control, or just right now?
  8. Playoff baseball is so much different than regular season. Kluber, Miller and Allen have thrown something like 60% of the Indians innings. That's tough to beat.
  9. Which big deals have worked out?
  10. Didn't realize it was the 6th largest contract in history at the time. Those are pretty good points. You win. Luckily the Angels saved us and we only ended up paying about 60 million for 6.5 WAR. The Angels paid about 65 mil or so for 0.7 WAR. But it's still incredibly risky IMO. 29-35 is a lot different than 33-40 or whatever it ends up being.
  11. Well yeah Donaldson is better but that also means he'll cost a hell of a lot more. Remember that Wells only got an AAV of 18 mil a year. Donaldson is also older, and perhaps significantly so by the time a possible extension kicks in, than Wells ever was. The risk is perhaps even greater with Donaldson than it was with extending Wells for his age 29-35 seasons at 18 mil a year.
  12. Yeah they aren't that comparable. I was just saying that all the posts seem to be pretty cautious when it seemed like OP's post seemed to be implying the opposite. I don't think age of signing is comparable either. Wells' extension kicked in at age 29. Donaldson will be much older. Wells got a 126+ million dollar deal, Donaldson is looking at 200+. Donaldson is the better player, but that only means he'll be more expensive and since he's older it also means it's a bigger risk in a lot of ways.
  13. I think most every post has been pushing caution so yes we are.
  14. Yeah Hendriks and Smoak were both really bad, if not all that consequential.
  15. Yeah last year was more frustrating from a baseball perspective but there was a lot of bad blood this series and they got their asses kicked.
  16. I'd approach him now and ask him if he'd be interested in an extension. 7/200 or something like that. It'd be an immediate raise for him and he'd lock up a long-term fortune. On the flip side, 31-37 could payoff for the Jays. 33-40 will almost assuredly not.
  17. Last year was way worse. We had a really good team and a special second half of the year and the Royals BABIP'd us to a degree. I don't like the Royals either and they don't like us. This year we sort of backed in to the Playoffs and then bitch slapped the O's and the Rangers. I was pretty well pleased by that point. On top of it the Indians just played well and I have no animosity toward that team at all. I like a lot of their players.
  18. Well he said not top 5 but he said they should be in the next 5 (6-10). Based on 2016 that would put them between 147 million and 167 million.
  19. Lol do you think we keep track of your posts?
  20. Eric Thames has a chance to put up more MLB WAR than the rest combined and he's been in Korea for years now. lol Dark times indeed.
  21. That picture just triggered the PTSD I never knew I had.
  22. That's a good point. Need someone down there in case of injury.
  23. Yeah I think he gets a starting gig next year. A FO who values pitch framing and needs a C will be all over him.
  24. One thing to keep in mind regarding trading Estrada is that he's in the last year of his deal and could very well be a QO player after next season. He seems like he might be the right kind of player to accept a QO as well. Idk that's a long ways away but it's something to consider.
  25. Pagan barely has more power than Aoki. He hit 12 homers this year but 3 out of 5 years that Aoki has been in the league he has outhomered Pagan.
