    No idea what they have against that guy. Does Tepera have options? After pitching 3 innings they should have sent him down. He's not going to be ready to pitch again for at least a couple of games anyway.

    No C listed in that lineup. Apparently Salty is starting and batting 8th. That's probably the worst lineup I've seen the Jays field in a long time. The Lansing Lugnuts would give that lineup a good game.

    It was bad timing as much as anything. The stadium is a child of 80's excess.

    Well here's the thing, in a vacuum getting the lower pick and tanking for one season only isn't bad. But 50 pretty much means Stroman and Sanchez get hurt and everything goes wrong. When everything goes wrong it doesn't go back to being right next season. So I picked 50 but I only did so because this hypo is in a vacuum. If the question encompasses everything that comes along with winning 50 or winning 81 I'd take 81.

    Gary, what happened? You started off strong and now are devolving in to baseless steroid speculation. It's almost trollish.

    Just saw on the Score app that the Cubs pitching coach is all sorts of salty regarding Eric Thames lighting up the league right now.

    Yeah I suppose he could play his way in to it! He seemingly gets multiple hits each day. I just didn't want people to think that I thought Vlad and Bichette were comparable right now as top notch prospects.

    What did I do? Vlad will probably be a Top 20 prospect someday. Maybe Top 10 or 5. Bichette is well below that now and probably never will become a highly ranked prospect like that.

    Lansing is an awesome farm team to follow right now. It's a mix of legit prospects with pedigree (Vlad and a tier well below him in Bichette) and guys who are raking and could force themselves to become prospects (Jones). Guys like Palacios could fall in to the latter category too.

    Yeah perhaps injury related as well? Is that what you are getting at?

    Pearce could also be facing age-related decline and simply doesn't have it anymore either. You never know when father time is going to hit. Seems like half the team might have hit the wall due to age. We won't know for certain for a while though. It's mid April and 15 games in.

    I don't really care to get in to a dragged out debate about confidence and how it affects a player's performance. It's not really measurable. That's my point. I do see what you're saying and I don't doubt that his confidence is playing a factor in his slump, I just don't know how to evaluate to what degree his confidence will ultimately end his career.

    Truthfully you've just used a bunch of words to say nothing. He's old and maybe he can't play well anymore or he's in a slump. Or maybe it's a bit of both. But I don't think he has some mental issues that will prevent him from playing well ever again. Even if he did you wouldn't be able to tell.
