    I think Shapiro is probably feeling pretty s***** about the results but at the same time IMO he's somewhat vindicated for not pouring a ton of cash and prospect capital in to trying to prop up this team for another run. Is overpaying Dexter Fowler and giving him a NTC really going to be the difference in this soon to be 1-9 start? Not a chance. We could have outspent everyone this offseason but it wouldn't have matter. Too many core players are sucking right now.

    His arm kind of sucks but he's got a steady glove and pretty good range all across the diamond it seems. At the plate he's got 3 singles in 7 ABs to go along with a walk. I think that qualifies him as our hottest hitter to start the season so he's got that going for him.

    I'd love to lock him up. Jays should see how he feels about an extension this offseason. If he wants to come back then you'd be able to build the next 3 years around him, Sanchez, Stroman and Tulo which is a good core and would keep the team competitive.

    What a disastrous start. I was really excited for the season to start but now I get nothing but frustrated from watching the games. A 3-6 or 4-5 start would be one thing but 1-8 is just brutal.

    If they have to pivot do they tinker and reload or blow it up? Neglecting LF and 1B this offseason only means it's a hole at those two spots for next season too; this on top of the new holes that open up which happens to be 2 of the 5 spots in the rotation. Doesn't seem like a ton of help is on the way either. Perhaps Pompey, Tellez and Gurriel can contribute.

    We should call up Kelly to take Goins spot as well. Put Coughlan in LF and Kelly at 3B against righties. Against lefties put Kelly in LF and Barney at 3B. Super glue Smoak's ass to the bench. I get not wanting to panic if you're the FO and I get that Goins isn't why this team sucks so bad right now but a 1-8 start warrants some tinkering IMO and if you're the 25th man that's where the tinkering will occur.

    I wish Pompey didn't get hurt. Now would be a good time to put him in LF and just let him sink or swim with it.
