  1. Pannone will likely see the big leagues some day. Taylor is holding his own as a 19 year old in low A but is probably just a lottery ticket. The org gets some goodwill for dealing a guy going through personal issues to a team closer to his hometown, for whatever little minuscule bit that helps. Not a sexy haul but for an impending FA I'll take it. It's another move where the organization reveals that they have the right process in mind at least.
  2. Huntington's disease is no joke. One of my professors had it. Went from playing basketball with the students to barely being able to talk in 12 years.
  3. I mean I don't care if they are Latino or not but I wouldn't mind some young high upside guys too.
  4. Not a bad idea. I think Happy makes 13 million next season. They could deal him and use 8 mil of that to bring back Estrada on a one year deal. The talent dropoff probably isnt huge and they get 5 more million plus whatever prospect they acquire.
  5. I saw him rubbing his eyes like something was wrong but I didn't see what actually happened.
  6. Well yeah that's true but I assume saving 3 million (or whatever the actual number is) and getting a guy is worth something compared to trotting out a struggling pitcher for a last placed team. If Liriano was actually good it'd be a difference conversation but his salary is going to heavily affect the return we get from him. I'd prefer we cover it all and got something decent but if we don't cover it all or at least a good chunk then we can probably expect a bag of balls.
  7. Angels at home and then the White Sox on the road.
  8. Don't forget to factor in Liriano's salary. Liriano is pretty much a negative asset to us at this point as he's an impending FA and we won't make the playoffs. Let's say the Royals take on 3 million of his remaining contract and give us Sparkman. That's probably worth it.
  9. Would love to see the Jays cover the rest of Liriano's salary to get a half decent prospect for him.
  10. I think signing a multi-position player or two would help a lot when it comes to giving so many ABs to the Ryan Goins's of the world.
  11. I hate to break it to you but he's been a better hitter than everyone other than Smoak this year. :-/
  12. That's a good deal. Cordell could stick.
  13. I'd obviously like better pitching prospects than what we have but I'd much rather be hitter-heavy. TNSTAAPP
  14. At this point I'd prefer watching a ham sandwich get second base plate appearances over the perennial 200+ that go to Ryan Goins every year. So if Profar came for nothing I'd take him.
  15. I don't trust Happ to be very good next year. I know losing yet another SP makes it that much harder to compete next season but with his salary off the books we should be able to use that money to replace him. I'd definitely shop him before the deadline to see what we could get for him. Maybe add Joe Smith to the package and we could actually net something decent.
  16. I like Nunez and Chatwood.
  17. No way. It's Dombrowski. He's showcasing Devers in preparation of a Sonny Gray deal.
  18. Two guys I'd like to see the Jays target in Free Agency are Eduardo Nunez and Tyler Chatwood.
  19. That's exactly it. None of our assets would really return stud prospects but for Stroman, Sanchez and Osuna. Donaldson would as well. Trading any of those guys would probably be punting on 2018 though and all could still get something next deadline. In the case of Sanchez and Donaldson you might not get any less by trading them next year. Could get more.
  20. If Donaldson bounces back next year he probably fetches more at the 2018 deadline than he does this deadline. Trading him now is both selling low and throwing in the towel on 2018.
  21. So who would you trade right now then? This is when the rebuilding argument starts to make less sense.
  22. This is what I've been saying. We won't get s*** for any of our impending FAs. Donaldson would be selling low. Happ and Smoak could be traded but what we they get us? I doubt that much. A true rebuild involves Sanchez, Stroman and Osuna and this team would suck dick moving forward if we did that. We've got a ton of money coming off the books this year. Retool and try again. If it doesn't work then the 2018 deadline we can sell.
