    That would be pretty cool actually. Decent team and since he's in the division we'd get to see him play in TO a lot without having to watch him don a Yankee, Red Sox or Orioles jersey.

    I don't think he was able to verify his claim. Mookie Betts backed him up though, to the detriment of his team. Perhaps Stanton believes it as well.

    Omar Vizquel might have been the worst.

    This is when he was actually at his best and everyone here kind of liked him. He built the farm up and did a great job of manipulating the QO system to acquire more picks and all that. They even changed the rules because of him. He also hit on a lot of small FA signings which helped keep the team afloat. But then his payroll nearly doubled and he pissed all his prospects away to acquire old expensive talent. He set up the team for a two year window to contend and then bolted. He's lucky that the 2015 team went bonkers in the second half and made the playoffs. Making the trades he did with a 6 game deficit was not prudent but it worked. Bolting when he did was really smart. He'll be a TO legend among the casual fanbase but most people who really pay attention to this stuff don't miss him. Unless he picked up some new philosophies from the Dodgers I don't think he was a very good choice by the Braves.

    Carlos Beltran is retiring. It was time. Getting that ring was a nice cap to what should be a HoF career.

    They won't get 17 mil AAV but they can probably get somewhat close to that on 3 year deals. Maybe four if they are lucky.

    Looks like AA to the Braves is official. Lucky f***er landed on his feet quite well with that org.

    I've been tooting his horn for a while but I wouldn't go 5 years. Probably not 4 either. His splits are solid but he hasn't really proven much. I'd give him 3 though.

    His death is bigger than whatever small gripes I have right now, but it is slightly annoying that the media down here in the States is covering him like he was a life long Philly and not a Toronto Blue Jay for 12 seasons. I wish we could have had a better team surrounding him those 12 years and that it never came down to trading him. I am glad that he went on to have a lot of individual and team success once we did trade him though.

    Didn't mean to give the impression that I would care if he got taken. I just think he's bad so no one will.

    That's not a bad strategy but you could say that about every prospective Rule 5 guy but almost none of the teams use their picks on bat only types like this. Maybe a s***** team should try it. I'd rather have Pentecost, personally.
