  1. I think you could make the case for any of them other than Pearce who is also a good player. Pillar seems like the correct choice at first but he only had 1.9 WAR last season. Wasn't much better the year before that. Tough call IMO.
  2. Kacy Clemens is going to wreck Lansing.
  3. I'll bet you 100 USD that Teoscar out WARs Grichuk this year.
  4. They actually are pretty similar on first glance but I think the swing and miss issues with Grichuk are pretty well evidenced at this point (he would have been fourth in K% last year if he had qualified). His career walk rate isn't even that much better than Pillar's tbh and his career OBP is .293. So yeah, Teoscar won't be Joey Gallo level strikeouts and Kevin Pillar walk rates but Grichuk almost is. He has overcome that to a large degree with his power and defense but his flaws may be catching up with him. He's getting worse each year, not better. It's not going to take a miracle for Teoscar to outproduce him at this point. I think it's probably more likely that Teoscar settles in as a starting MLB OFer and Grichuk steps back to a 4th OF role than it is the other way around. Anyone who disagrees is a racist who is picking Grichuk merely because he is a white male.
  5. I would say all 5 of our current OFers are bunched really close together. Granderson, Pearce (due to his defense he has the lowest ceiling), Pillar, Grichuk and Teoscar. It would not surprise me if Teoscar is the best of that bunch nor would it surprise me if he were to be outplayed by a couple of them. Probably a lot of variance with him, he might have the highest ceiling though.
  6. Ok so it's not so much liking Grichuk as you don't seem to expect much of him, you just really don't like Teoscar. Well Grichuk is nearly a full WAR behind Teoscar already this season. Let's see if he closes the gap over the course of the season.
  7. Oh ok couldn't tell through the text
  8. Yes for all the Teoscar doubters I would love to hear arguments why Grichuk is slam dunk better. The argument against Teoscar is untenable plate discipline yet Grichuk has put up a career 30% K-Rate.
  9. Why would you trade Teoscar for a decent backup C?
  10. Gibby is a genius. Ned Yost is getting wrecked.
  11. Runner had a crazy jump on that ball
  12. I'm sure Stroman is a better hitter.
  13. Well at least Facebook doesn't have commercials between innings.
  14. When you cross the border it magically gets much colder.
  15. Teoscar is good. Hits the ball hard, he's fast, good arm. Really toolsy guy. His plate discipline will be less than ideal and that's no small issue but the guy is a starting MLB OF. Been saying it for months!
  16. He's not bad. The rest of them, including this blonde girl, are worse than their Sportsnet counterparts.
  17. The play by play guy is trash. The Cliff guy (is that Cliff Floyd?) isn't too bad.
  18. If there is anything left in his bat he should do fine as a 1B/3B/LF bench piece. But unless he's getting a lot of PT he might as well hang them up.
  19. Happ vs Kennedy. This series will be easy to sweep.
  20. Maybe we can call up Espinosa and he can give us something and perhaps Tulo makes a mid season appearance to further bolster the infield. I think Gurriel could be an option midseason as well. Once Donaldson is back there won't be much reason to play Gift a whole lot too.
  21. My only complaint is that I wish Gibby would have staggered the lineup with Martin and Travis switching games off instead of taking them at the same time.
  22. There aren't a ton. Gurriel needs regular PT. Urena isn't ready either and needs PT. Espinosa is probably the guy but he sucks too. I'd probably give him a try. Gift is our 3rd SS and most 3rd SS around the league suck. Just be thankful we traded for Diaz otherwise Gift would be the everyday starter like Goins was last year.
  23. Yeah I'd probably make the switch but Espinosa is pretty horrid himself.
