  1. Yeah I think that's fair and they should look into tweaking that. Vlad was bad by several metrics last year so they are probably using those metrics. He also gets penalized for playing 1B, the lowest position on the defensive spectrum. The penalties are probably almost as much as JD Martinez does for DHing. So a below average 1B is worth about the same as a DH, and to be honest that does make sense. But all fielding metrics should be taken with a grain of salt. I read that Trea Turner's metrics were crap this year and he wondered why. Well he found out that merely playing 4 feet more shallow than he normally does was affecting his numbers. He asked the Dodgers if he could play back a little more, they said yes and his numbers went back to normal. So it's very hard for the numbers to account for positioning it seems. That number has long puzzled me though.
  2. That number heavily penalizes the position a player plays. Even stud 1B will end up with a negative number sometimes.
  3. Vlad just got an extra 15 million thrown into his extension by winning that today
  4. I don't think I'll ever get over it.
  5. Absolutely insane isn't it? Dude hits 2 home runs in an elimination game and the casual fans want to non-tender him
  6. I wouldn't take German and Bryant if they offered them to us for free. Bryant's contract is atrocious.
  7. Seriously, it looks like he’s wearing coke bottles out there. Also, can anyone confirm the rumor that he did in fact fail his driving test and cannot get a driver’s license in this country? I’ve been through his social media and haven’t seen anything involving him driving so I think it might be true.
  8. Lol and right on cue here come the Jansen fanboys. One of you is probably Danny Jansen himself. It wasn’t me that came up with the O’Neil trade but it’s 100x better than anything you Jansen fanboys could come up with. Most of you wouldn’t trade Jansen for Babe Ruth in his prime, that’s how blind you all are.
  9. Nobody is a Jansen fanboy? Lol are you kidding me? Merely point out facts like he has a glass body or the eyesight of your average 80 year old grandmother (I've heard rumors that his prescription glasses are so strong that he's in fact legally blind) and you'll get a dozen simps running out of the woodwork to defend him like they are teenage girls and you just insulted a member of their favorite K-pop boy band. This board is CRAWLING with Jansen fanboys.
  10. I swear Jansen fanboys are the most retarded subsection of fandom in the game. Roger Maris Jr. acolytes have more brains than you racist fatphobic dopes. Hilarious how the Jansen fanboys think he’s Mike Piazza after “breaking out” and putting up 4 WAR combined in 140 games over the past two years. Big deal! Kirk did that in just this season alone, and he did it at age 23 when most catchers are still learning the game in the minors.
  11. Danny Jansen coming to the plate in year 4 of his extension against the Yankees in a do or die Game 7
  12. Wow I've been called a lot of things in my life. An absent father, a horrible husband and I've even been called a drunk. Of course none of that is true my ex-wives are just garbage people and they poisoned our kids against me. But nothing stings more than hearing someone call me a "casual" baseball fan. Unreal.
  13. I get what Jim is saying but I tend to agree with you. Catcher is higher on the defensive spectrum than 2B, 3B or LF. Part of what makes Moreno such a great prospect is his defense at C. The more time he plays at those other positions, the less value he's likely to provide. The flexibility isn't a bad thing, especially when we have 2 other stud catchers (assuming Jansen's glass body and horrific eyesight holds up) but it's not something I'd really want to see a whole lot of unless he's really good defensively at 3B or 2B. I think some people like to look at Varsho as someone who catches and plays elsewhere but his situation is different. He's elite at CF and pretty pedestrian at C. That's not the case with Moreno.
  14. I think Jansen is easily more liquid. It's just a smaller trade that is easier to pull off. Trading Moreno could happen, but it doesn't seem like guys like him get moved for similar talent all that often. Instead, they get packaged up with other prospects and traded for stars, usually at the deadline. I just don't see Atkins doing the latter right now.
  15. I’d take a Tim Horton’s gift card for Jansen when we’ve got two young studs ready to replace him. Dude is made of glass and he’s got 2 years of control left.
  16. Ok I see your line of reasoning but the other two are just so damn cheap and the Jays aren’t exactly flush with cash anymore so I don’t see an extension happening.
  17. Jansen fanboys are some of the most unreasonable people in all of baseball. You just can’t reason with them.
  18. Yes you’ve made it very clear how you feel about Kirk and how Mexicans like him should be shipped down to Miami (which doesn’t even make sense). But if he’s traded, I won’t be mad if the return is fair for our 23 year old All-Star and Silver Slugger finalist. I just find it hard to believe that someone can offer up a package for a player that talented. A third of the league doesn’t even have someone on the roster as good as Kirk is. The always hurt Four Eyes seems like an easier guy to move in a deal and if we f*** it up we’d only have him for 2 years anyway. But what do I know? I’ve only been following the game for 50+ years. And at least 8 of those years were sober too (court mandated but still).
  19. Lol JimCanuck, famous Jays insider who has sources close to Atkins
  20. Cant wait to trade 4 years of Kirk or 6 years of Moreno so we can get 120 games out of Jansen the next two years before he bolts
  21. The Pillsbury Doughboy for Slender Man
  22. LMAO @ when Shea Hillenbrand's name comes up. AA: "I'm not trying to crush anybody but I remember you telling me about Shea Hillenbrand in the offseason..." Gibby: "Uuuuugh"
  23. I just started it and Gibbons let it be known that he interviewed for the Marlins job. Obviously he didn't get it but it would be great to see him back in the game.
  24. I'd do it. The trade tracker thinks it's fair as well. Not sure if the Cards would do it or not.
