    What sucks for Canada is that the damn tiebreaker is based on runs allowed and our pitching sucks.

    Scherzer was saying he wanted to play but it was way too early to pitch competitively for him. He wants to move the tournament to midseason which would be a good idea but one that I doubt will ever happen.

    Ok I clicked it and read some of the replies. I'm trying to be a lot nicer these days so I don't want to name any names....but WOW...some of those takes were truly atrocious. Bauer Fanboys, like their hero, just aren't very bright. I think some of you need to apologize to King if I'm being honest.

    Yeah I agree. There's a ton of pitchers who dipped out of participating in the WBC for various teams. Seems like Canada could and Team USA got hit pretty hard by non participants.

    Puig is a great comparison. Obviously good enough to play in MLB but never got the chance again because of off field stuff.

    Would be hilarious to see Team USA grind out a win over GB and then get tossed from the tournament after getting their asses beat by Mexico and Canada in back to back games. Part of me (the Canadian part) wants it to happen.

    Team USA's pitching sucks compared to what it could be. Unfortunately, Canada's is downright awful. Team USA's bats are cold though right now so if Canada can hang a crooked number I think they have a chance.

    The Taiwan crowd was insane too. Yu Chang got an RBI to make it 1-7 versus Cuba and the place went bonkers.

    Zach Edey probably isn’t a great NBA prospect given the state of the game today but he would probably be pretty good for Canada in international play wouldn’t he?

    He’s a slap hitter with bad defense and framing. No need to lock him up he was going to be cheap anyway.

    Yeah I like that for Ruiz. That's a nice chunk of guaranteed change and he's nothing special. It's not terrible AAV for the Nats and he could live up to the deal but I don't think there is a ton of upside for them here. Just basically locking themselves in to average C play for the next 6-8 years.

    Yeah just looking at their team and the roster is 90% Americans with Italian last names. Mike Piazza is even the manager. They aren't that bad. I thought players playing for countries when they have only lose ties was weird at first but now I think it's probably a good thing. I bet players are even encouraged to do it. Romano is a pretty good example even though he dropped out. He could pitch for team Canada if he wanted but he basically already does that by pitching for the Jays. Putting a Top 10 closer on Team Italy probably has more of an impact in a market where MLB is trying to expand.

    The Yankees traded for Montas, Efross and Trivino at the 2022 deadline and then signed Rodon and Kahnle this offseason and all 5 of them are hurt lol

    He's in denial about giving a dude with a glass arm 170 million this past offseason. Right on the heels of trading for a guy with a bum shoulder lol.

    I agree it will be a good game but I'm not sure I'd say that it's one of the most highly anticipated sporting events in all of North America this year lol

    Barger has good hair too. His lettuce flows a lot more naturally than Bo's who looks a little bit too manufactured.
