  1. You LOVE it? You love Kikuchi as the #5? Mitch White at #6? The other 40 man options are Zululeta (he's got about 50 professional innings under his belt and his stats don't really paint the picture of someone ready to be in an MLB rotation), Thompson (got rocked last year), Pearson (can't stay healthy) and Thomas Hatch (suxxx). Given the offense, defense, bullpen and the 1-4 it should be good enough to get us through the season but I wouldn't say it's anything special.
  2. Plenty of teams can't even fill out the 1-5 very well. So they've got that. Silseth is pretty good too, at least he projects to be. Then they've got a handfull of AAA guys in the right age group who project right on the edge of being decent big league starters. Zips thinks they'll put up the 9th most WAR among SP which is higher than us. For whatever that is worth.
  3. I'm fairly worried about the starting pitching depth. If one of the Top 4 gets hurt then we'll have 40% of our games being started by Mitch White and Kikuchi.
  4. The rotation depth could be okay. The 1-5 is pretty good. Ohtani Tyler Anderson Patrick Sandoval Jose Suarez Reid Detmers But it will depend on this group of FV 40-45 backend guys and if they can get any of them to pan out. I guess they are the Angels so they will probably all suck. Tucker Davidson Chase Silseth Griffin Canning Ky Bush Sam Bachman The bullpen does suck though.
  5. It should be better for them this year. Rendon is back (for now) and they traded for Renfroe, Urshela and O'Hoppe. And they signed Drury. Those guys should soak up a ton of the non-Trout/Ohtani ABs this year. They also signed Brett Phillips but he probably hurts the situation.
  6. The context is that we are using dog IQ insults and I just nuked Spanky by calling him the dumbest IQ dog there is. But actually I change my mind. I want to call Spanky an Afghan Hound. Jim is the Basset Hound.
  7. Hey Spanky you have the IQ of a Basset Hound! Boom, roasted. https://www.dogster.com/lifestyle/dumbest-dog-breeds
  8. Oh s*** the dog insults are flying all over!
  9. IQ of a Pug dog? Wow!
  10. Some good vibes before the Jays make Vlad an extension offer.
  11. Bichette played in Coors Field in the height of the steroid era. He also made 13 errors in the OF and was terrible out there. Ichiro hit .311 with zero pop whatsoever, never walked and was still an above average hitter all because of his batting average. I think he proves my point.
  12. Tony Gwynn played over half of his career as 30-something year old lardass with no pop and he's a Hall of Famer because he could hit for a high batting average.
  13. It's pretty hard to be a bad player if you hit .300. Luis Arraez has a great hit tool and an average walk rate. He has no pop, is slow and can't run the bases and is a horrendous fielder (even at 1B). But he's still a damn good player all bc he can hit .300.
  14. There's a HUGE difference. The player hitting .250 is already starting off with 50 points less on his OBP (that in itself is a massive deal) and 50 points less in SLG. The .250 hitter is going to need to walk significantly more and also hit for more power to make up the difference.
  15. Well on the other hand the Orioles tried to play games and they got burnt. They should have called him up much sooner.
  16. No idea what his defense is like, but a Steamer projected .327 OBP will play for the 4th or 5th C.
  17. Imagine risking injury for team Italy
  18. This guy is mildly interesting as far as AAA depth Catchers go. Great walk rates in the minors. https://www.fangraphs.com/players/james-ritchie/sa829058/stats?position=C
  19. I say veto it. It materially hurts the competitive spirit of the league. That and collusion are the only two things I'd veto for.
  20. Good job by the Royals to keep this man employed.
  21. So it's like a private box then. That makes sense to me. When I hit it big I'll buy us 50 tickets and take us all. Jim- you're right on the cusp right now. If you want to come I suggest you start being a lot nicer to me. Just saying.
  22. Lol Stroman would have lost his marbles.
  23. Agreed. He could have nuked them both and he would have been in the right but instead he's trying to appease these two overly sensitive idiots with nuance and apologies.
