Good list. Garver is pretty damn good. If they made him solely a DH perhaps he could stay healthy. Candelario is actually a pretty sneaky good player too. Good defensive 3B and is a switch hitter without much of a split. He's put up a ton of WAR the past 4 seasons with one of them being pretty bad. 20: 1.9 WAR in the shortened Covid year 21: 3.8 WAR 22: -0.1 23: 3.3 He might be looking for a multi-year deal though and I think we probably only need a stopgap at 3B.

Of course it's not shocking. A lower seeded team will advance to the LCS almost every single playoffs and I've said as much. But none of you pegged the D-Bags as a "dangerous" lower seeded team but now with the magical forecasting power that is hindsight you are all acting like you predicted this when you didn't. You guys can come up with bs reasons like they are "dangerous" or they have an "exciting young team" (if they lose this one quickly turns in to "they weren't experienced enough to win in the playoffs yet"). But the real reason is that there's just so much randomness to baseball that anyone who gets in can go far. You obviously want to have the best team you can entering the playoffs to better your chances, but once you're in you've got a shot and the D-Backs are proof of that.

I wonder if Atkins is interested in Jorge Soler in free agency. Atkins likes guys who hit the ball hard and Soler fits the bill there. I actually kind of like that he's a DH too. Mainly because he still fills our needs (power) while bringing down his price down significantly. But he also doesn't have any sort of DH penalty when he's hitting like a lot of other guys do. Another guy that would be cheap who provides power is Hunter Renfroe. He's not great in the field but he's passable in a corner OF spot. He's always cheap but given he's coming off a down year he's probably really cheap this year. One problem with them is that they both bat right handed and we are more in need of lefties.

Bo gave his blessing the last time Dante was coaching us but I agree regardless. We have no clue who is a good hitting coach or not. Fans always go for old players because it's who they know but there is no way of knowing if they are actually good at coaching or not.

I wouldn't be surprised if Rodon out WARs one of Berrios or Kikuchi. But it's by no means a lock and that's some very very low expectations for a guy you just gave 27 mill per season to. Berrios makes 18.7 a year and Kikuchi gets 12.

I don't think it's just one season though at this point is it? The 4 seasons from 2017 to 2020 he stunk. I guess that shows he has the ability to bounce back but now he's on the wrong side of 30.

The Vlad and Bo increases as well as Green's option are all good points. But since the Jays are a tax or near tax team, I don't think they are concerned about the increases for Gausman, Berrios and Bassitt. For tax purposes, all contracts use the average annual value. So for example if Gausman signed a 5 year, 125 million dollar deal and it pays out at 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, each year it counts as just 25 million against their tax thresshold every single year.

Well my bad I thought it was jaysblue who was making the Dodger comments and after he triggered me with his Lance Lynn comment I thought he deserved being called an idiot. As for the predictions, I can't be blamed for those as they were all a part of my highly successful and long running parody account called The Sheriff which I have since retired. But if you want to throw those in my face they need to be characterized correctly (it was more anti-Jansen Mr. Magoo jokes than pro-Kirk, somehow me wanting KK turned into a Bellinger hatefest but I'll give you that one, etc.). And you've got to mention the highly successful running gag that was Craig Biggio's son (Max Silver was biting on these until the very end), the Tilapia fan posts (also not to be taken seriously), the Kim Ng bangers, the Orioles getting blown out of the playoffs with their garbage pitching as predicted, and the anti-Yankee and Red Sox stuff (not as memorable because it wasn't an attempt at humor). So while the Sheriff is long gone I do think I've been a little feisty in a different way now but that's because of the playoff exit combined with jaysblue (see the mod post on his recent behavior) and connorp teaming up to becoming the loudest (and dare I say they are even getting some respect from a lot of you?) voices of the board. I'm sure I'll be hearing the strawman arguments until Atkins is fired but it will probably get better as we get into the offseason and start making some moves. I'll do my part to tone things down until then.

I like it as well but it is a problem. Though I'm not sure MLB even considers it a problem. 88-89 wins is one thing, but 84 wins isn't even a good season. It would never happen but having a 90-win cutoff would be a good idea. Take the top 6 teams so long as they have 90 wins. If only 4 teams have 90 wins then only 4 make it. I'm sure there are a million issues with that so please don't attack. Also, I'd also like to see them just go to AL and NL. No need for the divisions anymore with balanced schedules. And then make a bigger deal for the top teams with the winners being crowned the AL Pennant Winner and the NL Pennant Winner and they get to have a little ceremony and hang their banner.

A couple of days ago, Brownie was wondering if Dodger fans complain like Jays fans despite their better results. He was roasted by the board idiots (or at least they tried roasting him) for daring to make a comparison between the Dodgers and Jays but in fact he was right. Apparently Dodger fans do whine like Jays fans. They are probably even worse.

Brownie is climbing on the Poster Power Rankings. He brought receipts in his latest post and of course the intellectual lightweights of the board didn't like it. Sad to say but jaysblue you've dropped near the bottom after a mod reamed you out. I don't think I need to go into it any further than what was contained in that post but it was pretty devastating so if you have any self-respect you'll re-evaluate. Brownie is right, Dean is not off to a strong start (roughly his last 40 posts are whiny fat jokes and he's telling other to touch grass?) but there is still time to turn things around.

Nah I actually think you guys are the ones ignoring trends. The Diamondbacks went 32-39 in the second half of the season. They played better in Sept but they certainly weren't world beaters and they lost their last 4 games in a row heading into the playoffs. All I'm saying is that if you get in you can win it all. Start the right trend at the right time and all you have to do as a WC team is go 13-9. Almost every team in the league has a stretch like that at some point. Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman almost out-WAR the entire D-Bags starting lineup by themselves. Add in Will Smith, James Outman and the rest of them and it isn't even close. Yeah yeah, the Dodgers had some issues but they are still miles better and none of you guys picked the D-Bags to make it this far before the playoffs started. But now that it's happened you try to explain why the Jays suck and why the D-Bags are actually good because you don't want to acknowledge that I'm right in that streaks/trends can start at exactly the right time and that any team that gets in can make it far if they get some good luck. Instead, you'll point to ******** like "oh the Jays offense is bad" (we scored as many runs as the D-Bags and project to be the better offensive team), "oh they have a young exciting core" (what does that even matter lmao) or "they have two good pitchers" (and we don't?).

Hmm he's interesting. Bats lefty. Comparing him to Kim and it doesn't seem like he has nearly as much pop nor does he steal as much. But he does strikeout a lot less and hit for a much higher average. He'd probably be pretty cheap to sign.

You can't say that the Jays had no chance of advancing past the ALDS when the Diamondbacks are on the verge of making the NLCS. If you get in anything can happen. 4 crappy games from our garbage ass team the past two years doesn't change that.
