  1. Pederson would be solid but I wouldn't want to pay anywhere near what he got last go around. He's a lefty bat that under almost no circumstances should play the field OR get an AB against lefties. That's a very limited player. But if used correctly he is good.
  2. I highly doubt KK is on the radar anyway, even though I think he should be. Atkins talked about all of our FA's like they were already gone.
  3. Sorry connorp but: traveling to Eastern Europe = sex tourism confirmed
  4. Yeah I agree. I think that's why a KK return needs to be considered. And for all you "we need a bat to play LF types" don't fret. KK had a 104 wRC+ this year compared to Gurriel's 106 and Teoscar's 105.
  5. In fact, I wonder if DHing is an underrated skill. Teams these days almost use it as a throwaway position where they cycle guys through to rest them. But that could just be taking whatever your regulars are and applying a 15% production dip to them. So maybe having a guy who thrives as a DH is actually a market deficiency we could exploit?
  6. Was looking at some fangraphs stuff and noticed how much worse Kirk is when he DHs and isn't catching. His stats as a DH are truly awful. It's a SSS but the team might want to stop DHing him. I know a lot of players' numbers dip when DHing but I wonder if it's especially true for Catchers who get the benefit of being right there in the action.
  7. Which LF do you think will be available for about 1 year 10 mil that will be better than KK? FA is rough this year: https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/free-agents/outfield/ Also, are you comfortable with Varsho playing every single day with Springer as the backup CF? Or is the plan to then sign another OF who can play CF to be the 4th OF?
  8. Connorp doesn't necessarily rub me the wrong way as much as he does everyone else but one funny thing I notice about him is that he often brags about all the tail he gets from around the world when the most obvious explanation for it is that he's a classic middle-aged sex tourist lol
  9. This is pretty much true. The offense is what sucked so the natural reaction is to get a LF who can hit. But that will make the run prevention take a step back so the net benefit isn't all that great unless the LF in question is better than KK overall, not just with the bat. And that's no slam dunk to accomplish as KK put up 2.1 fWAR and 3.9 bWAR. The other thing to consider is that FA is garbage right now and there will be 29 teams all going after the limited FA pool. We might need KK back more than people realize as there just isn't going to be a ton of other options. Though I do hope that we do better than that and that we also get a LF who can mash. But there is still 3B and DH to add bats as well.
  10. Yeah these takes are hilarious. "My Offseason Plan: Step 1. Acquire an All-Star." Gee whiz, great plan guys.
  11. Joey Votto has one last hurrah in him I can feel it
  12. Wow just as I predicted I'm getting attacked. It's not 0. There are limited outfielders on the market and we need one. Everyone is bent out of shape about the offense but I think you take the production however you can get it. Signing some turd who is considered more of an offensive player like Tommy Pham isn't going to do us any better than it would just bringing back KK. It's probably like a 10 percent chance which I think is the highest chance of any of our free agents returning.
  13. I'd love to have Chapman back. I suppose there is a chance. I think KK has a chance to come back because he'll likely be cheap again. I'm going to get attacked by many posters for even suggesting it because everybody has us signing solely offensive position players this offseason but I could see it happening.
  14. Yeah he's running on fumes. That was a nifty signing but I wouldn't roll the dice on him.
  15. Yeah I agree but I think it has a chance to be mostly healthy again. And even so I think the rotation is fine anyway. Just run it back with the same 4 at the top and then pencil in Manoah as the #5. Tiedemann, Francis and Mitch White can be the depth. From top to bottom that's a Top 10 rotation and we've got other stuff to worry about. Would I like more depth? Yes of course but it's incredibly hard to add depth starters. Almost impossible to add via free agency because pitching is so sparse that they can find a guaranteed job from someone who will pay them 10 mil. So why come here to be a 5 when you know you are competing with a former star (Manoah) and a top prospect who will be banging down the door (Tiedemann). Our best chance to add more depth will be to trade for a backend SP with options. If Manoah is traded then we could then sign a #5 but what's the point? Just shuffling deck chairs and adding to the payroll.
  16. I assumed Richards and Espinal were keepers but those are interesting points. Clement could replace Espinal and you'd save a couple mil. And dumping Richards could help pay for a little bit of Chad Green's options.
  17. It seems like there is definitely some of that going on after the playoff game. Which is stupid because pulling Berrios isn't why Vlad got picked off of second or why the team couldn't get a big hit.
  18. No way Ed Rogers is keeping the Atkins diet through Thanksgiving. The butter tarts will be too hard to resist. Atkins is out.
  19. ^The attacks are flying. Halp.
  20. The Atkins apologists, once the premier attackers of BJMB, now find themselves under attack. Many posters are saying this.
  21. Shots fired at Dave Hudgens
  22. He's definitely a distressed asset right now so if you could get a haul for him and save 20 mil then you can replace his production with the money saved. On the flipside, I'd also consider offering him some sort of lowball extension. Something that takes him to age 30. That could give him a pile of money but would also allow him to cash in big still.
  23. Let's hire Jose Bautista.
  24. Imagine being a fan of a professional sports team and they look like World Series favorites on paper but then they get swept up by the obesity epidemic of all things and get knocked out in the first round. Welcome to sports hell everyone.
  25. On top of it they had to win Game 3! So why not abandon that plan because Berrios is dealing and then look to deploy it in Game 3?
